These are personal ratings offered by our people from their own experience and should therefore be used as a guide only. These ratings may alter throughout the year due to a change of circumstances. Norfolk Island ratings however are based on the official Australian AAA Star Rating Scheme. Basic accommodation often with shared facilities and based more around an authentic local experience. Properties in this category have a limited range of facilities and services. Standard rooms, clean and comfortable usually with basic furnishings and private en suites. Typically most properties would include a restaurant and bar but have a limited range of other guest facilities and services. Moderate accommodation with a reasonable range of room facilities and comfortable standard, usually with a wide range of recreational and leisure activities available for guest enjoyment. Superior accommodation offering a high level of comfort in rooms with quality furnishings and fixtures. 1 / HIDDEN TREASURES IN SAMOA The treasured islands of Samoa offer a land where unspoilt beauty, customs, cultures and courtesies still exist. The friendliness of the locals will ensure you enjoy a very special holiday experience. Some people simply can’t relax on the beach or by the pool for too long without going stir crazy. Others like to mix up their holiday indulgence with a little activity between siestas. Fortunately, Samoa can offer the best of both worlds, from relaxation and pampering to adventure and excitement. The pace is slow and an adventurous spirit about life exists. The beautiful islands are dotted with natural harbours, secluded coves and countless isolated beaches. So how about you let go of the remote, and GO somewhere remote! For those who like to explore we recommend experiencing these islands by sailboat or kayak.

5 / BREATHTAKINGLY UNIQUE NIUE Imagine a coral atoll where the year-round daytime temperature varies from 25°C to 29°C, where people are friendly, adventure activities are amazing, there’s no air pollution, phone numbers have only four digits and the New Zealand dollar is the official currency. Welcome to Niue the largest raised coral atoll in the world and one of the smallest countries on earth. We recommend travelling to Niue from July-October because that’s when the Humpback whales arrive to nurse their young. Niue is one of only a handful of places in the world where you are allowed to swim with whales – and let’s be honest whales trump everything!

4 / BOUNTIFUL NORFOLK ISLAND Nice and close Norfolk Island is easily accessible and only a two and a half hour flight from Auckland. At only 8 kilometres by 5 kilometres Norfolk Island might be small in size, but it packs a huge amount of attractions. Outstanding sunsets exist by night and by day, nature-lovers make a beeline for One Hundred Acres Reserve, replete in tall ferns, frigate birds and magnificent fig trees while bush walkers are rewarded with stunning costal views. We recommend Emily Bay as a sublime beach spot - a beautiful mix of gold sand and emerald sea, with the added bonus of giant turtles that often visit.

6 / TASTE OF FRANCE IN NEW CALEDONIA Vive la difference with New Caledonia! A land of contrast, splendour and excitement, you’ll find it all here. Unspoilt beaches, the bright lights of nightclubs, casinos and the magnificent cuisine will ensure you enjoy your ‘French’ experience. New Caledonia is only a two and half hour flight from New Zealand so it’s the perfect excuse for a long weekend away. If you would rather explore at your own pace we recommend hitting the road as one of the best ways to really experience New Caledonia’s beautiful and diverse ‘Grand Terre’. It’s easy to pick up a rental car at the International airport and the islands well-maintained roads and signage make road tripping a breeze. It takes about eight hours to drive from end to end – just be sure to remember to drive on the right-hand side of the road.

EXPLORE HIDDEN GEMS IN SAMOA Self-Drive Samoa has so many hidden treasures to discover and hiring a rental car is the perfect way to explore at your leisure. Upolu, the most popular island has loads of sightseeing options. Spots that we recommended are: To Sua Trench, located down on the South Coast it’s an iconic swimming hole that is reached by a long ladder, it can be deep and is tidal so best for confident swimmers. Also in this area is Lalomanu Beach, one of the best in Samoa. Togitogiga Waterfall, in the village of Saleilua is a popular swimming and picnic spot. Closer to town you will find the Piula Cave Pool, a fresh water pool that runs under an old Methodist Church or Papase’ea Sliding Rocks for a bit of a natural water slide experience. Head to Apia for the markets and a good range of restaurants to try. Drivers are required to get an endorsement on their full license before driving in Samoa. Driving is on the left-hand side and is relatively safe and easy with a speed limit around 56km/h with slower speed restrictions in villages. Keep an eye out for wandering dogs and pigs. GET OFF THE BEATEN TRACK Norfolk Island for nature lovers Discover the amazing National Park and botanical gardens of Norfolk Island. The National Park covers over five square kilometres and offers incredibly picturesque walking trails, stunning scenery and rich diversity of bird and plant life. Tracks wind through lush palm forests, stands of Norfolk Island pine and along the coastal fringe. Many endemic and endangered species can be spotted. You can even walk beneath the tallest tree ferns on earth. Tracks are well marked by signs and have a range of grades and lengths to suit all fitness levels. Take in the incredible island views from Mt Pitt and Mt Bates, the two highest points on the island. Visit the Captain Cook monument and lookout platform for spectacular coastline views. SOFT ADVENTURE IN TONGA Swim with whales The best thing about Tonga is the authentic, unspoilt and genuine feeling you get while experiencing a real taste of Polynesian life. From July to October large schools of southern humpback whales take shelter in the tropical-reef protected waters of Tonga to give birth to their young. These shallow and warm waters provide the perfect viewing platform with excellent visibility from which to admire these beautiful creatures. You may hear the occasional singing of courting male humpbacks, a natural symphony that can carry up to 100 kilometres through the open ocean and for those lucky enough to swim alongside these gentle giants it is an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. OUR FAVOURITE THINGS TO SEE AND DO Sleep in a fale on the beach – If you are after a true taste of Samoa we suggest you live like a local and stay in one of the many beach fales dotted around the coastline. They are mostly family-operated on village land and enjoy some of Samoa’s most scenic vistas and million-dollar scenery.

Catch a local bus – Riding one of Samoa’s brightly coloured buses is a must-do experience and a great insight into the local way of life.

Experience Alofaaga Blowholes – Located in Taga on Savai’i, powered by waves, these roaring jets of water defy gravity and shoot skyward at an incredible speed. For extra entertainment locals like to throw coconuts into them and watch them fly high into the air.

Enjoy a Fiafia night – Many resorts and hotels host weekly Fiafia nights, with entertaining traditional Samoan dancing and food.

Discover the Falealupo Canopy Walkway – Located in the Falealupo Rainforest Preserve, Savai’i, the walkway is 40 metres off the ground and passes spectacular huge banyan trees.

Sample the local food – There are many foods to try while in Samoa, we highly recommend these: Paulsami – a dish consisting of coconut milk, taro leaves and corn beef, Oka- raw fish and Umu – similar to a Hangi, food is wrapped in banana leaves and cooked in the above the ground oven of hot volcanic stones.

Relax at picture-perfect Lalomanu Beach – Hands down one of Samoa’s best looking beaches, this is the paradise we all dream about.

Espiritu Santo is also a dream destination for diving enthusiasts, the main attraction being the wreck of the luxury liner SS President Coolidge, which sank just off Santo in 1942 after striking a mine. Still almost intact, the liner is considered one of the best and most accessible wreck dives in the world, you can still see guns, cannons and personal supplies left by some of the soldiers. If you want to see the whole wreck it takes around 10-15 dives due to its sheer size. A bonus for divers is that close by is the aptly named Million Dollar Point, where the American forces dumped all their surplus equipment at the end of the war. In addition to these there are many other sites to explore in this underwater playground.

The ancient caves in Tanna are also something not to be missed, and people travel from all over the world to explore them. Some blue water caves have snorkel access only and some caves come with their own skeletons. Best to have an experienced guide with you to explain the history and local legends of the caves. Apart from being one of the productive islands in Vanuatu, Tanna is also one of the most traditional as custom and culture remain extremely important. In fact the island of Tanna is populated almost entirely by Melanesians. Many villages have shunned modern life, preferring to live as their ancestors have for centuries, you will see the locals in sheathes and grass skirts and they live in little thatched huts. The main island, Tongatapu, is home to the capital, Nuku’alofa, and to most of the kingdom’s resorts. SUPPLY OF TRAVEL, ENTERTAINMENT AND ACCOMMODATION SERVICES AND FACILITIES

If a vehicle is returned prior to the end of the reserved rental period or if the vehicle is picked up later than the reserved date, NO REFUND will be made for unused rental days.

$25 fee per amendment prior to final payment and the issuing of the travel documents, and a $50 fee per amendment after travel documents have been issued. These fees are to cover administration and communication costs. You may also be required to pay any Supplier imposed fees. 10. INSURANCE We strongly recommend that you insure yourself fully against cancellation, loss of luggage and personal property, and medical expenses. Your travel agent will be able to provide you with further information. 11. ITEMS NOT COVERED Unless otherwise specified, the cost of airfares, meals, drinks, laundry, insurance, sightseeing, transfers, local taxes, airport departure taxes, Airline imposed insurance levies, passenger service charges and Passport or Visa application fees are not included. 12. VISAS/PASSPORTS For all holidays in this brochure you will require a valid passport. You are responsible for arranging your own passport, visa and health requirements including inoculation. You should check with your travel agent who will be able to provide you with the necessary information.

13. NON-USE OF SERVICES OR FACILITIES

5.1 The prices provided are a guide only based on low season, per adult share twin and are correct at the time of printing. The actual price may differ to that indicated due to currency fluctuations, special events, trade shows or peak periods.

If, of your own choice, you decide not to use part or parts of the arranged services or facilities, you will not be entitled to a refund from us (provided we have carried out our service with reasonable skill and care and to your requirements) and you may not be entitled to a refund from any Supplier.

5.2 We will guarantee the price of the portion of the booking as processed by us, against currency fluctuation for a period of seven (7) days from the time of confirmation of the booking; note: special conditions apply for cruise bookings. It is the responsibility of your travel agent to advise you of the date of confirmation. If your booking remains unpaid after the seven (7) day guarantee period it will be subject to currency fluctuation, up to the time full payment is received by us. 5.3 Events beyond our control, such as changes to the prices of aviation fuel or changes to the cost of services or facilities may result in the prices charged to you being different from those shown in the brochure. You should check all prices with your travel agent before making reservations, and before ticketing.

14. HEALTH OR DISABILITY Some Suppliers may reserve the right to refuse to carry or accommodate people who because of a health condition or disability may require services or facilities to be provided in a special manner. You should check this with your travel agent. 15. SERVICE SATISFACTION

We have no control over the facilities or services themselves, or the manner in which they are provided by the Suppliers. Therefore you should be aware of the following conditions:

During your holiday, if you encounter any situation where the service supplied to you does not meet your satisfaction, please take the matter up with the Supplier immediately. Your contract for each service is with the Supplier. If this is not possible immediately, or if you are still dissatisfied, please contact your travel agent. Both we and your travel agent will endeavour to investigate on your behalf and to negotiate with the Supplier to resolve the matter as soon as possible, so that you continue to enjoy your journey.

• We will not be liable for any loss or damage of any kind which may arise from your use or consumption of, or inability to use or consume those facilities or services.

Any claims or legal action in connection with the provision of our services to you will be governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any claim or legal action against the Suppliers is likely to be subject to the terms of your contract with them, and may be governed by the laws of other countries.

7. PAYMENT

BUSINESS PURPOSES You agree that where our services are acquired for business purposes, or where you hold yourself out as acquiring our services for business purposes, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 will not apply to any supply of goods or services made under these conditions, and we will not be liable or responsible for any loss or damage of any kind to you, including any consequential loss or damage however it may be caused. 4. INFORMATION IN THIS BROCHURE 4.1 While we attempt to ensure that the contents of this brochure are correct, accurate, and up to date at the time of printing, the contents of this brochure are drawn from information supplied to us by Suppliers. We do not have, and cannot be reasonably expected to have, personal knowledge about all of the facilities or services provided by each Supplier. 4.2 Facilities or services may change after the date of printing. We endeavour to keep travel agents informed of any changes to information in this brochure which are brought to our attention. CANCELLATION 8.1 If you wish to cancel your booking for any reason, you must advise us in writing through your travel agent as soon as possible. 8.2 If you cancel your booking or any part of your booking, we will impose a cancellation fee in respect of each person travelling under that booking. These cancellation fees are required to offset booking, communication, and administrative charges which have already been incurred by us, Suppliers and your travel agent. Cancellation fees imposed by Suppliers and travel agents are beyond our control and you should check with your travel agent regarding what cancellation fees may be applicable. 8.3 We strongly recommend that you insure yourself fully against cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances.
