REMINDER: “Judge Dedra Davis is giving away Barbie ®Dolls.”
Yes, Judge Dedra Davis, presiding judge for the 270th Civil District Court will begin giving away the new Barbie® “CAREER OF THE YEAR” dolls to students. However, according to her Facebook post she has designated the dolls for groups who schedule visits to her courtroom. From what I understand, Judge Davis will be giving out one doll per group, as one of the many prizes she will be handing out in the coming months. I want to thank the voters of Harris County, Texas for entrusting me with the honor of serving as your judge of the 270th Civil District Court. Since taking the bench, I have held to the promises I made while campaigning to be your public servant back in 2018. “Making Law and Order Equal Justice” isn’t just a slogan I made up – it’s a commitment I’ve made to you! I believe every citizen should have a voice and receive a fair day in court. I don’t know about other courtrooms, but in the 270th Civil District Court we treat everyone who enters this courtroom with all of the dignity and respect they deserve by putting “JUSTness” into justice as I rule with a firm, yet
compassionate hand. I love our young people and believe they are our future. One of the ways we help our young people who are a part of civil cases is to allow them to come up onto the bench so they can see themselves from a position of power and strength. I believe how we see ourselves is extremely important. That’s why, since taking the bench, I’ve allowed over 450 students from various public schools in our area to sit in the judge’s seat in the 270th Civil District Court. I also love our young adults. One of the ways I am helping to shape the lives of young adults is to have them serve as interns in the 270th Civil District Court. Since taking the bench, I’ve hired over fifteen interns from the Houston area. Before becoming your judge, for the 270th Civil District Court, I served as a lawyer for 21-years, with almost ten years as a civil litigation paralegal, and 23 years as a Certified Mediator. I’m Dedra Davis, and I’m “Making Law and Order EQUAL Justice,” in Harris County’s 270th Civil District Court.
