Please Cast Your Ballot for Judge Mike Engelhart on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 Dear Harris County:
On the eve of the November 4, 2008 election, I was not sure I would win. I wanted very badly to serve as Judge. I had campaigned hard for almost two years since I had decided to run for district court judge, but I was running against a three-term incumbent who was related to former U.S. Secretary of State James Baker. But the people of Harris County thought better of it and, amazingly, elected me to the first of what has now been three terms as your Judge of the 151st Civil District Court. Thank you to the people of this County for giving me the greatest honor of my life. At the end of next year, I will have served for twelve years as a countywide elected judge. I still look forward to going to work every day and serving my constituents. I have had the same staff for my entire tenure, and we have a terrific team of dedicated public servants. In these three terms, I have repeatedly received top marks in every poll of lawyers who work in the

Harris County courts. I have received the Public Sector Achievement Award from the University of Houston Law Center’s Alumni Association, the Trial Judge of the Year Award, and the Franklin Jones Award from the State Bar of Texas for writing the best legal education article in 2017. But more than all of that, one of my greatest honors is to receive nice notes from everyday county residents who have served as jurors in our Court. I will stand for re-election in a primary in March 2020, and then in the general election in November 2020. I would be grateful for the continued support of my friends in Harris County to allow me to serve them as Judge. Thank you so much, and God bless you. Sincerely,
Mike Engelhart, Judge, 151st Civil District Court 201 Caroline, 11th Floor I Houston, Texas 77002
