“I do not choose to be a common man, It is my right to be uncommon … if I can, I seek opportunity … not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen. Humbled and dulled by having the State look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; To dream and to build. To fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole; I prefer the challenges of life To the guaranteed existence; The thrill of fulfillment To the stale calm of Utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence Nor my dignity for a handout I will never cower before any master Nor bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect. Proud and unafraid; To think and act for myself, To enjoy the benefit of my creations And to face the world boldly and say: This, with God’s help, I have done All this is what it means To be an Entrepreneur.”

ALL HANDS ON DECK: “I’ve been studying Texas’ criminal justice system from the time I graduated from college back in 1991. And I can tell you with full assurance that the system isn’t always fair, or color blind. However, it isn’t as much about the color of your skin as some folks would have you believe. In a lot of cases, this system is about whether you have connections, influence, and the means to mount an adequate defense as an accused citizen. Even still, fixing the problems won’t be easy – but we must try! And to this end, we must also make it our business to do our due diligence regarding researching candidates in our effort to find the “BEST QUALIFIED” candidates who value “US” before we go into the voting booth to cast our ballot. And moreover, as we proceed forward, we must begin to use our treasure, time, and talent to implore, inform, and empower more people to get off the sidelines and into the game of life!” — AUBREY R. RUNOFF EXCLUSIVE

THERE’S A SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2018 SHOWDOWN IN THE “SHOW ME CITY”

AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

It’s hard to fathom a Missouri City without the honorable and beloved Mayor Allen Owen at the helm of the Show Me City. After all, he and his wife Jane, have made Missouri City home for more than 40 years. They both love the Show Me City, dearly. “I’ve dedicated my life as a committed husband, father, business leader/builder and civic volunteer to make Missouri City the best city imaginable,” says Mayor Allen Owen. But if he is to remain, mayor, Missouri City voters must turnout, and turnout strong on Saturday, December 8, 2018, to make sure that he's allowed the opportunity to keep this great city moving forward. MAYOR ALLEN OWEN IS A PROVEN LEADER

In case you don’t know, after retiring from banking, Mayor Allen Owen became increasingly more and more involved in improving the quality of life for all citizens of Missouri City, Texas. According to Mayor Allen Owen, he’s done his very best to work with City Council, its economic development team and local businesses to attract hundreds of millions of dollars in new business, including 31 major companies that have moved their headquarters to Missouri City in recent years. His hard work and dedication is undeniably a large

RUNOFF ELECTION DAY PRECINCTS AND POLLING PLACES FOR ELIGIBLE VOTERS RESIDING IN FORT BEND COUNTY

Mayor Allen Owen is facing off against Councilwoman Yolanda Ford on Saturday, December 8, 2018, in the runoff race for Mayor of Missouri City, Texas. part of the reason companies are flocking to Missouri City and bringing muchneeded jobs along with them. This kind of leadership in the Show Me City has time and time again uniquely positioned Missouri City as one of two Texas Cities to consistently rank in the top 50 cities in the United States of America.

MAYOR ALLEN OWEN HAS WORKED HARD TO MAKE MISSOURI CITY ONE OF AMERICA'S SAFEST CITIES

Get this, according to Forbes Magazine, Missouri City is one of America’s safest, most affordable and best quality of life cities to raise a family, build a business, live, and spend your golden years. Did you know this? A recent Rice University study ranked Missouri City as “the most ethnically diverse city in the most ethnically diverse region of America.”

MAYOR ALLEN OWEN NEEDS YOUR VOTE

There’s absolutely no way to sugarcoat what I’m about to say, “MAYOR ALLEN OWEN NEEDS YOUR VOTE TO KEEP MISSOURI CITY MOVING FORWARD!” It’s just that simple! Moving the Missouri City Mayoral Election to November, rather than continuing to have it take place in May election cycles has posted a "BIG PROBLEM" for Mayor Allen Owen. In case you don’t know, Mayor Allen Owen was challenged by not one, but two African Americans candidates back on Tuesday,

November 6, 2018, in his bid for re-election. And at the end of election night, he found himself trailing in an election for the very first time – if my recollection is right. And in a year that has boded well for women, on the local and national stage, Council Member Yolanda Ford has emerged as the “PROJECTED FRONTRUNNER” over your beloved Mayor Allen Owen in the upcoming Saturday, December 8, 2018 runoff election. The 8,600 votes for 35.68 percent of the vote Councilwoman Ford received places Mayor Allen Owen in a serious predicament. Especially since there was not one, but two African American candidates on the ballot. The third-place finisher, Fred G. Taylor garnered 7,075 votes for 29.35 percent of the vote – which was a very respectable showing for him. And your beloved Mayor Allen Owen finished second behind Councilwoman Ford with 8,428 votes for 34.97 percent of the vote!

EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS AND HOURS

Mayor Allen Owen and Susan Soto are both asking for the vote of every eligible Missouri City, Texas voter! Early voting will begin on Monday, November 26, 2018, and end on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. THERE’S A SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2018 SHOWDOWN IN THE “SHOW ME CITY”

didates can convince their supporters to return to the polls a second time to cast ballots. As for Mayor Owen, he is asking for the vote, prayers, and support of every single Missouri City voter in his bid for reelection -- and Susan Soto is doing the same. So, again, please don’t forget that early voting will begin on Monday, November 26, 2018, and end on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, for the runoffs.

Susan Soto is encouraging all registered Missouri City, Texas voters to vote for her during the early voting period which begins on Monday, November 26, 2018, and ends on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, in the runoff race for Missouri City Council At-Large Position #2.

Mayor Allen Owen and his wife Jane have been married for more than 50 years. And they've spent over 40 of those years serving the people of Missouri City, Texas. Former Missouri City Council Member Eunice Reiter served the Missouri City community for more than two decades as the District A Councilwoman. And she’s been a Missouri City resident for more than four decades. In case you don’t know, Reiter is endorsing Susan Soto in the Saturday, December 8, 2018, Runoff Election for the At-Large Position #2 seat over current Council Member Chris Preston.

SUSAN SOTO FACES A TOUGH BATTLE

In case you don’t know, Susan Soto by most accounts is a serious underdog in the upcoming Saturday, December 8, 2018 runoff election between her, and Councilman Chris Preston who is the "PROHIBITIVE FAVORITE" coming off his stellar performance back on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the general election. Get this; Councilman Preston garnered 10,093 votes for 47.40 percent of the vote in the race for Missouri City Council AtLarge Position #2. Holmes played most of his professional career with the San Francisco 49ers as a wide receiver. He was drafted in the first round of the 1973 NFL draft with the 18th pick. He also played for the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins. Holmes is also a proud graduate of Texas Southern University and Galveston Ball High School.

ALL ABOUT THE RUNOFF ELECTION TURNOUT

While both, Mayor Allen Owen, and Susan Soto find themselves trailing their counterparts heading into the Saturday, December 8, 2018 runoffs; before you count them out, you must remember that runoffs are about which candidate or can-

MAYOR OWEN IS PROUD OF HIS SUCCESSES

The honorable Mayor Allen Owen is proud of his accomplishments. “I’m particularly proud of our continuing push by City Council to improve public safety. We recently have opened firehouses, and approved pay raises for Police and Fire Forces and all city workers. We’ve hired Missouri City Motorcycle Police Officers.” In spite of struggling economic conditions in other areas, “Missouri City home values have jumped many times and are one of the best buys in the area, because of our proximity to Houston, the Texas Medical Center, Energy Corridor and the Port of Houston.” Owen serves on many boards, committees, and civic organizations throughout Missouri City. “Engagement is critical to me. I served the City as a Planning & Zoning Commissioner for five years, served on City Council for eight years, and have served as Mayor the past 24 years. We’re excited about HCC at Texas Parkway adjacent to City Hall with a $35 million investment to boost redevelopment there as a striking welcome to our City. Our library is growing, and we’re proud of our new civic center. Work continues for Metro getting commuter rail to our City along 90 and soon a bus network to move our citizens to and from work and school,” he said. Allen and Jane are active at First United Methodist Church where they raised their children including a daughter who works as an FBISD teacher and are grateful Missouri City still is where their children and grandchildren visit. Owen earned degrees at Stephen F. Austin and SMU – Graduate School of Finance and Banking.

Congratulations to Judge Maria T. Jackson for running a solid race against Judge Sharon Keller, and William Brian Strange, III in the race for Presiding Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals. While Judge Jackson came up short in her quest to become the first Democrat to win a statewide race in Texas since the 1994 Gubernatorial election, she did accomplish a few things I would like to point out. In case you don't know, she handily beat Judge Sharon Keller in every measurable category in Harris County, Texas. ABSENTEE BALLOTS: Maria T. JUDGE-ELECT DASEAN JONES UNSEATED JUDGE CATHERINE EVANS IN THE RACE FOR JUDGE, 180TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT IN HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

In case you don’t know, Judge-Elect DaSean Jones, he’s a decorated U.S. Army combat veteran, who wants to institute alternative sentencing initiatives that are not solely punitive, but rehabilitative in nature. And by unseating Judge Catherine Evans in the race for District Judge, 180th Judicial District Court back on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, he will more than likely earn the opportunity to do just that. Although he’s a quiet and reserved professional, Judge-Elect Jones has an incredibly interesting set of life experiences that’s shaped his unique perspective. According to him, he believes that the people who make the life decisions for so many of Harris County's citizens have either lacked relevant life experience, or don’t share in the same, or similar life experiences as the men and women who they’ve been punishing. While straight-ticket voting was indeed a contributing factor in his victory over Judge Evans, he and other African American men running for county-wide offices in Harris County may find themselves facing an uphill battle in future elections. Why? Judge-Elect Jones may not have won his race without the 104,698 straight-ticket voting cushion he received from Democratic voters in Harris County, Texas back on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the midterm election. Here’s why: DaSean Jones received 636,029 overall votes. When you subtract the 514,758 straight-ticket votes, you come up with 121,271 votes. Comparatively speaking, if you subtract the 410,060 straightticket votes, Judge Catherine Evans received from her overall vote total of 545,889 you

come up with 135,829 votes. Now, please keep in mind that this analysis is not meant to take away from, or diminish the victory achieved by Judge-Elect DaSean Jones, but rather to illustrate how straight-ticket voting will impact local races in upcoming elections in the 2020 Presidential Election Cycle and beyond. How can I say this, well, we stripped away the straight-ticket votes garnered by both candidates in this race, the bottom-line numbers reveal that Judge Catherine Evans would have perhaps defeated Judge-Elect DaSean Jones by an approximate margin of 14,558 votes – hypothetically speaking. Again, this formula is not an exact science, but rather a formula that can be used to measure the strength of candidacies going forward. And more directly, it shows that African American males may need a little assistance if they are to remain relevant in future Harris County, Texas elections when straight-ticket voting becomes a thing of the past.

COUNTY CLERK-ELECT DIANE TRAUTMAN DEFEATED UNSEATED COUNTY CLERK STAN STANART; STRAIGHT-TICKET VOTING WAS NOT A FACTOR IN TRAUTMAN’S VICTORY AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

In case you don’t know, County Clerk-Elect Diane Trautman would have still defeated County Clerk Stan Stanart in the race for Harris County Clerk– even without the 104,698 straight-ticket voting cushion she received from Democratic voters in Harris County, Texas back on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the midterm election. But this race was all about Diane Trautman who received 648,647 votes, for 54.59% of the vote. Stan Stanart only received 509,299 votes, for 42.86% of the vote. And Abel Chirino Gomez received 30,288 votes, for 2.55% of the vote. So, when you subtract the 514,758 straight-ticket votes, away from Diane Trautman’s overall vote total, you come up with 133,889 votes. Comparatively speaking, if you subtract the 410,060 straight-ticket votes, Stan Stanart received from his overall vote total of 509,299 you come up with 99,239 votes. So, in essence, even if you stripped away the straight-ticket votes received by County Clerk-Elect Diane Trautman and County Clerk Stan Stanart, she would have still defeated him by approximately 34,650 votes back on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the midterm election in my opinion.

JUDGE-ELECT William “Bill” McLEOD DEFEATED ATTORNEY SOPHIA MAFRIGE STRAIGHT-TICKET VOTING WAS NOT A FACTOR IN McLEOD’S VICTORY AUBREY R. TAYLOR REPORTS©

In case you don’t know, Judge-Elect William “Bill” McLeod would have still defeated Attorney Sophia Mafrige in the race for Judge, County Civil Court No.4 – even without the 104,698 straight-ticket voting cushion he received from Democratic voters in Harris County, Texas back on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the midterm election. Here’s why: William “Bill” McLeod received 646,153 overall votes. When you subtract the 514,758 straight-ticket votes, you come up with 131,395 votes. Comparatively speaking, if you subtract the 410,060 straight-ticket votes, Attorney Sophia Mafrige received from her overall vote total of 531,969 you come up with 121,909 votes. So, in essence, even if you stripped away the straight-ticket votes received by Judge-Elect William “Bill” McLeod and Attorney Sophia Mafrige, he would have still defeated her by approximately 9,486 votes back on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the midterm election in my opinion.
