Like a human ER, we see patients as walkins and therefore do not take appointments or pre-scheduled visits at Animal ER. Patients are seen in order of "life threatening issues" first, so owners are asked to be patient as our team feels that all patients are a priority though poisonings, inability to breath, seizures, etc. may be seen before a patient that can rest while the critical ones are being stabilized - our goal is to have ALL be supported, comforted, and stable as soon as possible. Owners will find less stress if they call our hospital in advance of arrival, bring a phone charger, and provide any records and previous medical history details for their check-in to help our team understand the most about their pet.

Yes, we are open 24/7 with a veterinarian and patient care team on duty all hours.

What capabilities does Animal ER have for pet emergencies?

Animal ER of Northwest Houston offers 24hour critical care and medical support for minor and major illnesses. Our hospital offers an in-house diagnostic laboratory and digital radiology (X-ray), IV therapy including transfusion and anti-venom therapies, and offers surgical care for soft tissue/skin procedures as well as emergency abdominal surgery. On a scheduled basis, we can coordinate for on-site orthopedic and speciality care.

Do you offer services for animals other than dogs and cats?

The majority of our services cater to dogs and cats; with occasional ability to help support small exotics depending on the preferences of our clinician on duty.

Animal ER of NW Houston houses a physical rehabilitation department, called Wonder Pet Rehabilitation, providing advanced pain management services, treatment for mobility or post-surgical disorders. Wonder Pet provides patients with physiotherapy and focused strengthening exercises, underwater treadmill therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, acupuncture therapy and more.
