Texas Governor Greg Abbott has appointed seven student regents to their respective universities, including Texas Southern University, for terms set to expire on May 31, 2024.
Dylan Getwood of Port Arthur, who is pursuing a bachelor’s in health information management, was appointed by Gov. Abbott. Getwood has served as an active student leader at TSU through the Student Government Association, Residential Life & Housing, the Royal Court, Campus P.A.L.S, and the Student Life Advisory Council. In addition, he is the immediate past president of the TSU chapter of the NAACP.
He is also employed at MD Anderson Cancer Center as a Patient Services Coordinator. Getwood officially took office on Thursday, June 1, 2023, and will attend his first Board of Regents meeting on Thursday, June 15.
