HUNTER’S PARADISE LODGE #85

June 2016 From the East: Worshipful Master, Mark Brown

A View from the East… Worship Master, Mark Brown

Greetings from the East. Brethren, the hot summer months of Arizona are once again upon us. Just a reminder, as a Lodge, we go dark in July of a Stated Meeting. We are planning a few special meetings for degree conferral so watch for those announcements. While our Lodge activities slow during this time, here are a few other Masonic activities to consider. In July, I will be heading to the Shriners International Imperial Session in Tampa, FL. This is always a great time to re-establish friendships with fellow Brethren and Nobles and start new ones. While there is business to conduct, there is plenty of time for the prin-

ciples of that fraternity; Fun and Fellowship, and the charity it supports, Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Sickness and Distress

On Saturday, July 16th , there will be a CHIPS event in Mesa hosted by Camelback Daylight #29 which I plan to support. CHIPS is a great Masonic program that reaches out to the community to provide parents with identification for their children in the unfortunate event it would be needed.

Bro. Ken Jones: The HP 85 brothers continue to visit him. His is having a tough time, and it is a real test of his determination, Brother Ken is in the Arizona Veterans Home. Bro. Tom Johnston: is at home recovering from his medical issues. Please keep these Brothers in your prayers.

Oriental #20 will be hosting a Junior Warden Night on Tuesday, July 26th to confer a 1st degree. This is another opportunity to meet up with fellow sitting Masters and meet their Lodge officers and members.

7/16 - CHIPS, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM 1415 E Southern, Mesa, AZ 7/18 - Special Meeting, 6:30 p.m.* 7/25 - Special Meeting, 6:30 p.m.* 7/26 - Junior Warden Night, Oriental #20 NO Stated Meeting in JULY

On the Level…

James “JJ” Jennings, Senior Warden Brethren, Summer is quickly approaching and many of us will be out and about doing activities and meeting new people. This is a perfect opportunity to prospect for new members. Make it a point to bring up Freemasonry in your daily con-

versations. Doing so can uncover desires to pursue Freemasonry from those you converse with or can also uncover opportunities to meet with people they know who may be considering joining our great fraternity.

your personal friendships and gain best practices of other lodges that we can apply to Hunter’s Paradise.

I would encourage any and all to pursue fellowship with other lodges as a way to expand

Jonathan Beffel, Junior Warden Greetings Brethren, My usual summer plans involve traveling with my family, my circumstances being what they are means I might not be able to make travel plans this summer. Regardless, if I do get the chance to travel, I plan to visit other lodges to see how they look and perform their rituals; I would encourage all of you to do the same when traveling anywhere. Try to take mental notes on the differences (good and bad) that you notice and ask yourself why they might have decided to do it that way. In my limited travels as a Ma(Continued WM Brown from page 1)

As a desert dweller, I will be looking for ANY activities in the cool mountains to escape the heat of the valley. I will pass them along as I find them. Whatever your plans are for the summer, travel safe and I look forward to seeing you again in August. Fraternally yours, Mark Brown Worshipful Master

son thus far, I have come across vastly different rituals and procedures, some were just awkwardly different, but others were insightful. Sadly some of the good changes I have observed so far would require a rather large shift in our procedures at the Grand Lodge level, which makes it a bit difficult to strive for. That being said, I hope to one day help implement some of these changes for the good of Arizona Masonry and I can thank my visits to external lodges for the inspiration! more details on all these events. If you are not yet a Shriner you can still sign up to get the web blasts sent out from the Shrine. Of course the Z Secretary will be busy keeping all proper things written and completing necessary tasks as assigned. Have a great summer and think cool thoughts. Fraternally, George Z Secretary 3
