The Metro reported on a Debrief story that graduates in China are looking to plastic surgery to help them succeed in job interviews. According to the report, the number of Chinese student graduates reached a record high of 7.26 million in August - 7 times more than 15 years ago, resulting in high unemployment rates. In this competitive job market, these young people are having cosmetic procedures such as liposuction, nose surgery and facelifts to enhance the appearance, which they believe could help them land their dream job. In the U.S., similar trends were reported in 2008 by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Two-thirds of the academy’s members said that men and women requested cosmetic surgical procedure to stay competitive in the workplace. This belief hold true even today. According to a recent businessinsider report, the huge boom is men's aesthetic surgery over the last three to five years can be attributed to the desire to look good and stay competitive in the job market.
