Tory Burch was born June 17, 1966 in Valley Forge, PA

1988 Attending The University of Pennsylvania, Burch obtained a degree in Art History in 1988. Although this degree was not her primary focus postcollege, Burch references inspiration obtained from artist influences.



After graduating from college, Burch succeeded in the fashion industry working in Public Relations for Harper’s Bazaar, Vera Wang, Ralph Lauren, and Narcisco Rodriguez.

In 2004 Burch created TRB by Tory Burch, a lifestyle brand. She uses her apartment as headquarters. Her brand is later picked up by Bergdorf-Goodman and she also opens a flagship store in New York City.

Burch previewed her collection of tunics and preppy, elegant wear on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2005 and overnight her company drastically expanded.

Modern Design Inspiration

Burch consistently shows her influences through her blog and social media. It allows the consumer to stay informed and enjoy the direction the company is taking with fashion. Burch usually has a cultural icon, tropical or nature inspired component, along with lots of pattern.

Today




Burch maintains a personal style that is inspirational and classy. This style could possibly be derived from her New England / Hamptons lifestyle.

These woman like luxury but they probably also enjoy a unique look that does not work for everyone. There is a nod to vintage and the Hollywood glamour from decades past that speaks to the elements that Tory Burch projects. These women not only look good, they do good! Tory Burch is a philanthropist who invests in women, especially mother entrepreneurs.



Tory Burch captures the “zeitgeist” or the “spirit of the times” by pairing youthful silhouettes that are currently popular with patterns that were innovative during a previous era. Her pairings create a whimsical and youthful spirit that are elegant and rich at the same time. Capturing the “spirit of the times” seems to be a fleeting idea when many designers want to push the envelope or think outside the box. Tory Burch speaks to the history of what drives great style and classic design.
