Hi, could you start by telling us a bit about yourself? My name is Ilona, but those closest to me call me ILY. Also by chance is an acronym for I LOVE YOU. I am 27 years old, from Ukraine, and I grew up in the small village of Babanka. From the age of 14 I lived in Uman where I studied and worked. Medicine is my everything. I have worked as a nurse, a massage therapist and at the same time studied to be a doctor, after a while I opened my very first massage therapy practice. Exactly 4 years ago I made the bold decision to come to Qatar, it was for my birthday and here begins the story of my modeling career and not only. You will read about this further. Other than that I am a sunny, positive, goal driven, person with strong values at my core. Those closest to me describe me as an incredible person who had to go through a lot in order to get where I am today and I can say the same with pride.

Tell us about your journey so far? It is a long journey so I will just focus on the past 4 year since I arrived to Qatar. At that time, my English is not at the level it is today. Even during my early photoshoots I sometimes has to guess what a designer or photographer wanted from me. It was very exciting because I wanted to bring the top of my head in the best possible way (this is the main task of the model) And you know I roke it. How would you describe your style? I am of the belief that one should look good for any occasion. In Ukraine we have a saying: “People are greeted according to their clothes, they are escorted according to their minds.” Therefore, I try to use clothes as an element to emphasize my dignity and at the same time express my character. Tell me about your experience as a model. Oh it’s wonderful!

Almost 4 years and going strong. 5 magazine covers and next one 6th will be this one so I am really happy about the opportunity. I was the Brand Face @shinecollectionqa for 1 year. Did more than 200 projects including but not limited to Fashion shows, makeup photoshoot, jewelry shooting, fashion photoshoot, extra in movies, modeling in event, etc. It’s cool and I love it.

2020 has been the strangest of years, how did you find lockdown? Any lessons or discoveries? As for everyone 2020 has been a challenging year. But it also presented opportunities for growth which I am grateful to have had. As everything went online, I had to focus on development and a lot of attention to social networks. In general the fashion environment in Qatar was in turmoil during this stressful period. Many brands could not manage this period, events and projects

were cancelled or were left in a cycle of perpetual delays.

What are your hopes for the future of the fashion industry? I think that this is a way of selfexpression and I would like fashion to make it clear that the clothes that you wear adorn you and show you from the inside, but not so much does not show how much money you have in your pocket. I am not a person who lives by brands, but social life dictates the rules at the present time and people who do not have their own understanding of why they buy this or that thing simply follow the wave of marketing, forgetting their essence in this world. Who have been some of your favorite collaborators so far in the industry? I cannot say I have a favorite. I am grateful and thankful for all the collaborations that I have done and the people I have worked with. Every collaboration/project has

something special. For example collaborating with local upcoming designers and being part of their growth is an amazing experience. At the same time my one year as the Brand Face for Shine clothing was definitely one of the biggest experience and it gave me a lot of exposure in the industry.

What first piqued your interest in fashion and modeling? Beauty, an opportunity opened up in this business in a new way. I used to say in childhood that I wanted to become a model, and then the opportunity fell out and I discovered this talent in a beautiful country Qatar What is fun and rewarding about modeling? And what is not? Fun : It is a great opportunity to meet interesting and talented people. The chaos of fashion shows especially the opening or closing. Forming strong friendships with other models and people in the industry. Doing a cover for a magazine. Of course the most rewarding part is the

wonderful emotions all this brings. Not fun : Unfortunately it is not the most stable of businesses and still a lot of room for development but it has come a long way especially.

What is the biggest highlight of your career so far? I can say that this is one of my last projects. Then a team the designer Layla.line and 12 people worked with me. This filming took all day. We changed 4 images, makeup, hair, dresses. The photographs and videos have been published in the New York Times and in many local magazines in Qatar. There was also the cover of Bloom magazine Do you have a favorite designer or high street brand? Due to the fact that I am a model and I am given the opportunity to wear clothes of different designers, I cannot single out any of them. Why? Every brand has its own soul which the designers aspired to put into their creations.


How has your style changed over the years? To be honest, he has changed very well over the past three years. And I can say that I still prefer the classic style, and also dilute it with different colors. Smart casual is one of my favorites, and without cocktail dresses my wardrobe would be completely empty. What is your greatest strength? As model I think creative fashion photography is my forte, it matches my creative personality the most. As a personality Fortitude I never give up and I'm just moving forward. What are your goals as a model? I wouldMy goals as a model after New York Times, I want to get into Vogue magazine and probably it can be in Vogue Arabiya or other international publishing houses

Anita Dongre's latest collection, ‘Crafts of India – An Ode to Bhuj’


Anita Dongre’s newest collection, Crafts of India – An Ode to Bhuj, seeks to marry heirloom Indian crafts with contemporary and classic silhouettes. The designer, whose commitment to sustainability and slow living has been made apparent in her two-decade long career, turned to Gujarat and its many crafts for her latest collection. This year, the couturier has delved into craft techniques from Kutch—secrets that have been kept for over a millennium—to create heirloom pieces that can be passed down through generations. Expect vibrant handwoven fabrics, rich embroideries and intricate patterns in the traditional Kutchi hues of reds and blues. The resist dyeing techniques of bandhini and ajrakh are also heavily featured in the collection.


Santorini Flying Dress Travel and Fashion are my two biggest passions in life. Like all great travellers, I have seen more than I remember and remember more than I have seen. Being the Saturnalis travel company owner and having visited 54 countries over the past 10 years, I started seeing myself wanting to return to the same places that have landed a love story deep in my heart….. I keep coming back to Greek islands as I simply can’t resist the beauty, heritage and the unique vibe. So, Mykonos or Santorini? I love both, but I am afraid that Santorini is still the winner for me.

Santorini is the supermodel of the Greek islands, a head-turner whose face is instantly recognisable around the world. Out-of-this-world sunsets? Tick. Stunning sea views? Tick. Pretty whitewashed towns? Tick. Filled with chic bars, swanky restaurants and swish fashion boutiques, photogenic Santorini will sweep you straight off your feet. I would also call it the Island of fashion, as many celebrities, top models and luxury business owners love this island no less than I do. You can see many famous faces walking around you all the time, they clearly feel “at home” there.


There are two different sides to this superb island. Over to the west, iconic villages like Oia, Fira and Imerovigli overlook an enchanting caldera and the twinkling Aegean. While in the east, in resorts like Kamari and Perissa, it’s all about volcanic shores with beautiful black-sand beaches. I have been coming here 7 years in a row, 2-3 times a year for modelling work and leisure.

Each time was different and created unforgettable memories. Looking back at some photos from this fairy-tale island frequently makes you feel almost surreal about the whole experience. The company I worked for this time is called Flying Dress- Instagram @flyingdress.photo. The cleanliness of Tokyo, the diversity of New York and the social services of Stockholm: Billionaire Marc Lore has outlined his vision for a 5-millionperson "new city in America" and appointed a world-famous architect to design it. Now, he just needs somewhere to build it -- and $400 billion in funding. The former Walmart executive last week unveiled plans for Telosa, a sustainable metropolis that he hopes to create, from scratch, in the American desert. The ambitious 150,000-acre proposal promises ecofriendly architecture, sustainable energy production and a purportedly drought-resistant water system. A so-called "15-minute city design" will allow residents to access their workplaces, schools and amenities within a quarter-hour commute of their homes. Although planners are still scouting for locations, possible targets include Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Arizona, Texas and the Appalachian region, according to the project's official website. The announcement was accompanied by a series of digital renderings by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), the architecture firm hired to bring Lore's utopian dream to life. The images show residential buildings covered with greenery and imagined residents enjoying abundant open space. With fossil-fuel-powered vehicles banned in the city, autonomous vehicles are pictured traveling down sun-lit streets alongside scooters and pedestrians. Another image depicts a proposed skyscraper, dubbed Equitism Tower, which is described as "a beacon for the city." The building features elevated water storage, aeroponic farms and an energy-producing photovoltaic roof that allow it to "share and distribute all it produces." The first phase of construction, which would accommodate 50,000 residents across 1,500 acres, comes with an estimated cost of $25 billion. The whole project would be expected to exceed $400 billion, with the city reaching its target population of 5 million within 40 years.

Funding will come from "various sources," project organizers said, including private investors, philanthropists, federal and state grants, and economic development subsidies. Planners hope to approach state officials "very soon," with a view to welcoming the first residents by 2030. In addition to innovative urban design, the project also promises transparent governance and what it calls a "new model for society." Taking its name from the ancient Greek word "telos" (a term used by the philosopher Aristotle to describe an inherent or higher purpose), the city would allow residents to "participate in the decision-making and budgeting process." A community endowment will meanwhile offer residents shared ownership of the land. In a promotional video, Lore described his proposal as the "most open, most fair and most inclusive city in the world." Lore founded jet.com before selling it to Walmart and joining the retail giant as head of US e-commerce in 2016. He left the company earlier this year, saying that his retirement plans included working on a reality TV show, advising startups and building a "city of the future." BIG's founder, Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, is meanwhile quoted as saying that Telosa "embodies the social and environmental care of Scandinavian culture, and the freedom and opportunity of a more American culture." It is not the first new city being planned by Ingels' firm, which famously installed a ski slope on top of a Copenhagen power plant and has codesigned Google's new headquarters in London and California. In January 2020, Japanese carmaker Toyota revealed that it had commissioned BIG to create a master plan for a new 2,000-person city in the foothills of Mount Fuji. Although significantly smaller than Telosa, the project, dubbed Woven City, promises autonomous vehicle testing, smart technology and robotassisted living.

It sounds almost too good to be true. What if better skin was as simple as swallowing a small capsule each morning? And what if that daily ritual could relieve a specific skin concern—say breakouts or redness—with the same amount of effort it takes to down a gulp of water. Those are the questions Anna Lahey, founder of homegrown beauty supplement company Vida Glow, set out to answer. “We identify a concern, like uneven skin tone, and then we start asking: ‘What are the actives that can help the body with these concerns?
