Before you slide up into the saddle, take the time to get to know horse basics. Soak in knowledge like reading a horse’s body language, catching, haltering, hand-walking a horse, getting to know brushes and tools, and learning how to tack up and untack a horse. This 1.5-hour class is required for any beginner who wants to move into riding lessons. This class is groundwork only, no riding.

Silver Saddles Horsemanship (Ages 55+)

Silver Saddles Horsemanship Program is a great way to learn new horse skills, spend time outdoors, and interact with new friends. This drop-in program is groundwork only (no riding). Every class will start with a horse safety lesson, and then participants may work on horsemanship skills of their choosing. *Please note that the ground at the Horse Corrals is a natural surface and may be uneven.

This low-distraction environment paired with individual attention will propel your horsemanship and riding skills at a more rapid pace during this one-hour lesson. Riders (ages 5 to 99) can choose between Western and English depending on your interest. Mini Manes (Ages 3-4)

Introduce your little one to the world of horses without the pressure to hop right up in the saddle right away. This outdoor program of two, half-hour classes, teaches your tot safety and horse care through fun hands-on activities. Once they learn the basics and feel comfortable around the ponies, they’ll get the opportunity to go for a ride. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Pony Tails (Ages 5-6)

Saddle up, little cowpoke! After learning the fundamentals of horse behavior, grooming, and using a saddle and bridle, kids will ride our ponies. When the kids aren’t riding at these two, hour-long classes, they’ll be playing equine-focused games. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Horse Homeschool Programs (Ages 7-13)

Get to know the horse beyond the hooves. This equestrian class—geared toward homeschool students— will introduce all things horses from basics to riding. Students will learn about grooming, tacking, horse safety, and riding. The theme will change with each session, but there will be a horse basics lesson during lunch for new attendees and a review for returners. All attendees need to bring a lunch, water bottle, long pants, and close-toed shoes. This is a youth-only, drop-off program.

Summer Horse Club

Spend your Monday evenings with our four-legged friends! We’ll advance our Western and English riding, go over equitation, Rodeo and English disciplines, and trail riding essentials. Prerequisite of Summer Horse Club or Saddle Club within the last 6 months. This is a youth-only, drop-off program.

Scout Horseback Riding Badge (Ages 7-18)

Our professional riding instructors will teach the scouts about basic horse safety, care, and health in a fun and hands-on learning environment. This will be followed by a ride in the arena to learn introductory horseback riding skills. We tailor our lesson plans to make sure that all scouts meet the requirements for BSA Horsemanship Merit Badge or the Girls Scout Horseback Riding Badge. *Please note the 12-scout maximum for this program.
