About Hring eftir hring In Icelandic, Hring eftir hring means “what goes around, comes around”, referring to things that have a tendency of repeating themselves. This common Icelandic saying became the working title for Steinunn’s first jewellery collection. Later on, the collection was named Fairy Tale and the working title became the name of the brand. The Fairy Tale collection has grown since it first came on the market and is now available in various stores in Iceland, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands. In 2011 the company created its second collection named Tea Party.

About Steinunn Steinunn studied civil engineering and worked for Batteríið Architects until 2008. Whilst studying she took classes in oil painting and drawing at the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts. In 2008 she quit her job and found the urge to nurture her creative side and follow her real passion. She began a diploma program called Prisma at the Iceland Academy of the Arts where the main courses were arts and philosophy. During her studies the first jewellery collection, Fairy Tale, was born. After finishing Prisma, Steinunn founded her company Hring eftir hring. 2

Fairy Tale collection

About the Fairy Tale collection The Fairy Tale Collection is inspired by Icelandic nature and it’s extreme and beautiful colours. The idea came to Steinunn one day when looking out her kitchen window, she noticed the first leaves of spring. She translated the form she saw into what is now known as the Ring of Leaves. “I look at each ring as a bouquet of leaves. That’s why each ring is unique and to me more like a small piece of art, rather than a replication of the same form. About the Tea Party collection “If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn’t. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn’t be, and what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see?” - Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll -

The Tea Party Collection is inspired by the wonderful and timeless story of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. In particular the illustrations and drawings by John Tenniel from the original edition (1865). The Mad Tea Party became the basis for the collection. When the unbirthday of the Mad Hatter is celebrated and the scene is full of tea cups and pots made of white porcelain, contrasts, bowties and weirdness. The Do Do Dove ring was created in collaboration with Dental technicians. The Bow tie ring and necklace were created in collaboration with Muggi, a furniture maker who six years ago started making wooden bow ties for men to wear instead of the traditional bow tie. Together Steinunn and Muggi created a new use for the wooden bow by shrinking it in size to fit the finger. 12
