5 Facts about Landfills You Don't Know

Landfills are not clean and they are eye soars within a community. However, society needs these places to deposit millions of tons of garbage. So they are necessary and important to the health and well being of many people. The following information will explain some relatively unknown facts about landfills.

1. Water bottles are the number one waste product of all time. More than 60 million water bottles are thrown away in landfills each year. This type of trash product is hard to recycle. People should only use water bottles for a short amount of time because they trap bacteria after repeated use. Whenever rubbish removal takes place within your community think about all of the water bottles that are contained within that trash. 2. If you are trying to use a rubbish removal service to get rid of some old items; you should make sure you take the toys out of the pile. People in the UK purchase 30% of all the toys on the planets and throw many of them away. If people would fix the toys up or keep them in good shape; they can pass them down to the next generation and keep them out of landfills. 3. More money is spent on waste removal than any other community service. People spend billions on getting rid of trash and local communities pay more for this benefit than they do for emergency service, libraries or parks. Honestly, there is not a lot that people can do about this fact since trash has be removed from communities. 4. Americans waste about 4.5 million tons of office paper each year. This is an astounding amount of paper and many businesses are trying to avoid this problem by establishing paperless rules. Residential homes that are in need of house clearance can also get rid of extra paper waste by opting out of junk mail and getting rid of old magazines. 5. Every year Englishmen get rid of close to 2 million tons of carpeting. When people are remodeling their homes or performing property clearance activities, they should try and recycle their old carpet instead of just throwing it out. At the end of the day, the less things are thrown in the landfill, the better off you are. Use it only as a last resort and focus your waste disposal efforts on more recyclable materials and actual recycling. Separate your rubbish and use clearance companies that use recycling centres – you want your waste to stay away as farther as possible from the nasty landfills.
