About Heartland Spiritual Alliance Heartland Spiritual Alliance is an allvolunteer, nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote alternative spirituality through participation in educational activities that focus on similarities within all religions and the respectful, free exchange of spiritual beliefs. Heartland Spiritual Alliance has sought to fulfill its mission in numerous ways such as: Spirit Circle, a networking and educational group that meets in Kansas City; publishing The Heartland Spirit newsletter; and, of course, presenting the Heartland Pagan Festival. Heartland Spiritual Alliance meets monthly on the second Sunday of each month from 2:00p to 5:00p at Aquarius in Kansas City. All meetings are open to the public. Membership is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. To become a member of Heartland Spiritual Alliance: Applications are available online or you can write and ask for a hard copy to be mailed to you. With your completed application, send $20.00 by January 31st, for your annual membership (from July to June each year) to our P.O. Box. You must be 18 years of age or older. You must perform a minimum of 20 hours of H.S.A. volunteer time (usually at the festival and/or working with a committee).

HPF: WHERE WE CAME FROM In 1985, there were no Pagan festivals anywhere near the Kansas City area. Interested folks meeting at The Rune picnic formed a group, The Council of the South Winds (C.S.W.). Their first meeting mustered only three people, but the next assembled the first core group of eight, joined by a dozen or so later. These intrepid pioneers put together the first Heartland Pagan Fest, held June 27-29th, 1986. C.S.W. repeated the Festival in 1987, with greater attendance and more expense. It was decided that incorporation was needed to effectively manage the financial and liability aspects of the event. The Heartland Spiritual Alliance (H.S.A.) was incorporated September 19, 1988. 1991 we were at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation near Osceola, MO. Stewart & Janet Farrar were guest there on their first US tour. In 1992, we came ―home‖ to Gaea Retreat Center near Tonganoxie, KS, owned by Earth Rising, Inc. H.S.A. membership was instrumental in the rehabilitation of the camp, which had been neglected for many years with considerable donated funds and hundreds of hours of labor to repair and upgrade the camp‘s infrastructure. We continue that support to this day. This is our 30th H.P.F., and we are proud of what we have accomplished over the years.

We would also encourage all guests to pick up scattered MOOP (Matter Out Of Place). It is everyone‘s responsibility to help keep our camp clean. Special MOOP bags available at the Gaea Youth Tent, Jr. Pirate Doubloon Shoppe, or from Pirates while on runs. Remember Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and ―Leave No Trace‖!

Few of our cultural elders in America ever reach the status of ―Living Legend‖ but 85 year old Grandmother Elspeth, "the Crone on the Road," may just be one.. Author of the poem, The Challenge, and creator of the spoken word CD sets Out of the Forest, and Gylantra's Legacy, Elspeth Odbert has been conducting workshops on spiritual growth and enrichment since 1991. She is a inspirational teacher and storyteller. leading her listeners on an ecospiritual path of personal and planetary transformation. She is a Certified Shamanic Practitioner and a Master Gardener. With the able assistance of Nybor, Elspeth has created a storybook, Gylantra's Journey. This fully illustrated "fable for a possible future" presents their dream of what can be. Another place where Nybor and Elspeth (and John) are working together is GreenSong, a non-profit organization working toward sustainability and preparedness. Presently, John is researching the political, social and technical effects of the decline of petroleum as primary energy source. He is working with Grandmother Elspeth in speaking of the complex challenges of the future.
REV. AISLINN AWATAKE FIREHAWK
Aislinn has been walking her path for several decades. She loves to share her limited knowledge, not as a blueprint on how others walk their path, but as an idea that creating your own spiritual path and walking it is not so difficult as one may think. She studies all manner of subjects from an intuitive perspective, rather than ―learn from books‖, because this works for her.

He has had the privilege to learn and play with some of the most talented drummers in the world. He‘s played along side musicians such as Nighthawk, Ginger Doss, Linda Millard, Spoonfed Tribe (at Heartland), Bekah Kelso, as well as several African masters. He understands the inner workings of the drum, physically, mentally, spiritually and energetically. His energy and love for the drum circle and the community led him to start putting on workshops, not just for the adults but for the children as well (they are the future of our community) and he considers it an honor to share what he has learned on his journey with the drum.

HONORED GUEST BANDS GI N GE R D O S S & L Y N D A M I L L A R D
The music of award-winning singer/songwriter, Ginger Doss, has been well known in the pagan and spiritual centers of the country for many years. Her eclectic musical style awakens the spirit to journey on a tribal groove, dance with the elemental flow and transform with the power of divine song. This musical shaman has been slamin‘ down her chakra rock in spiritual centers and communities across the US and Canada as a solo artist for the past 5 years. Lynda Millard is an accomplished singer/songwriter who‘s career spans many successful original band projects in which she contributed her dynamic song writing, signature bass playing, vocal prowess and breathtaking command of the flute. Together Ginger and Lynda helped form the award-winning band Velvet Hammer, which toured the rock clubs and festivals across the US and later evolved into Dreamtrybe. Together they have a harmonic grace and command of their instruments that can only come from years of playing and singing together. Drum, dance and journey on sparkling waves of musical bliss as they weave their melodic magic with rocking grooves and spine-tingling harmonies that have earned them international acclaim.

SEXTHIRSTYLOVEHUNGER, his second and most anticipated album documentation of sexual/romantic nature, is due to be released in Spring 2015. www.sexthirstylovehunger.com
S. J. TUCKER & BETSY TINNEY
S.J. Tucker came flying out of her community in Memphis, Tennessee a decade ago, guitar in hand, and her feet have hardly hit the ground since. Folk, Pagan, Blues, Rock, Celtic, Gospel, Geek, Jazz, Punk, Opera, Goth-industrial: all of these types of music share space in her impressive discography, and their varied elements are bound together by her masterful lyrical storytelling and embellished perfectly by the brilliant cello of Betsy Tinney! No two of their concerts are the sam, but S.J. and Betsy‘s skill, presence and desire for connection with their audience consistently shine from every stage they cross. Beloved of the Pagan community and even named ―the face of NeoTribal Paganism‖ by Witches & Pagans Magazine, Tucker is proud to contribute to the vibrant soundtrack of festival life. New for 2015 is Stolen Season, a jazz-induced record featuring guest performances by the aforementioned Betsy Tinney, Heather Dale, Ben Deschamps and Renee Janski. In the works for this year are both a mythic song collection entitled, Stormchaser, and a long-awaited follow-up to her Blessings album called Rootless. In their second release, Lake of Dreams, the three songwriters bring it on strong with soulful lyrics about love, life, and living our dreams; especially good for the after-dinner hours. BBG‘s 3rd CD, Shine Your Light, features tributes to iconic women songwriters such as Ferron, Teresa Trull, and an invincible roaring reference to Helen Reddy. From haunting love ballad with soaring violin, to rockin‘ shining samba, or from bluesy cosmic piano, to a bass and drum veggie rap, Big Bad Gina brings multiple genres to life.
ABNEY PARK
Abney Park comes from an era that never was, but one that we wish had been. An era where airships waged war in the skies, and corsets and cumberbuns were proper adventuring attire. They‘ve picked up their bad musical habits, scoundrelous musicians, and anachronistically hybridized instruments from dozens of locations and eras that they have visited in their travels, and thrown them into one riotous dervish of a performance. Expect clockwork guitars, belly dancers, flintlock bassists, middle eastern percussion, violent violin, and Tesla powered keyboards blazing in a post-apocalyptic, swashbuckling, Steampunk musical mayhem. www.abneypark.com

Music and Magick S.J. Tucker Sunday Main Hall 12:15p-1:15p ―We can do ‗Row, Row, Row Your Boat‘ and move mountains.‖ –Ubaka Hill Music, as we know, has the power to heal or to conjure; to stoke the fire of revolution; to ease the passing of those in pain. But how do we find the magick of music within ourselves, and how can we tap into it for our own benefit? What makes music tick, and why does it have such an impact on us and on our surroundings: Join S.J. as she teaches her own ―default settings‖ for working with music as a form of energy, power, change and communication. No previous singing experience or musical training is necessary-only an open mind and heart. Please wear comfortable clothing to allow movement, and bring a notebook to jot down thoughts and impressions. On Leadership: Assessing Community Commitments T Thorn Coyle Saturday Merchants Circle 2:45p-3:45p Effective leadership requires taking responsibility for our commitments. Have you ever seen community leaders just stop showing up? Or start throwing disrupting the works through various means? Have we noticed that sometimes we take on too much and begin to feel overwhelmed? Do we have trouble taking breaks? This workshop helps us to assess our commitments by using the Pentacle of Autonomy: Commitment, Honor, Truth, Strength, and Compassion. We will also learn to recognize whether our energy is being eaten, drained or fed, whether we are just in a temporary slump, or whether it is really time to honorably cut our ties and move on. Practical Magic: To Manifest Desire T Thorn Coyle Friday Pavilion 1:30p-2:30p Whether you call yourself a Witch, Magician, Magic Worker or Priest…claiming the power to manifest unlocks many doorways. Too many people give away their power, allowing systems, large tides, or even individuals to manifest the world around them. By invoking Desire and moving with it through the Four Powers–To Know, To Will, To Dare, To Keep Silence–we bring the sacred idea, the holy longing, into action and the material. We claim our power and responsibility, enabling us to be of greater service to this planet, the cosmos, and our Gods.

Sacred Experience Main Ritual Arch Over the course of this year‘s three rituals we will cleanse ourselves of the preoccupations which prevent us from fully participating in the festival, reclaim our Promethean light, and launch ourselves back into our lives with power, passion, and purpose.
Opening Ritual—Thursday, 6:30p In this wordless ritual we are each killed and resurrected in order to cleanse ourselves of the baggage which prevents us from seeing clearly. The first priestess appears and obtains the tools of magic.
Main Ritual—Saturday, 7:00p challenge is to step outside of the efforts to reform intransigence and seek the goal, the objective, and the path into tomorrow. Our civilization is the most complex and diverse in history. Within it and our knowledge of history we can define and work towards a just, competent, functional world for tomorrow that also reflects our pride and enjoyment. Technology, the social sciences and the ethical belief paths can hold the answer. This is conversation worthy of the consideration and contribution of everyone.
