Now in its fifth year, the Festival continues to grow and offer new experiences to a wide audience. Architecture on Show: architect talks Australian Institute of Architects Architecture on Show is a series of talks on local architecture presented by members of the Australian Institute of Architects as part of the 2013 Sydney Architecture Festival.

What would my Architect know?

Architects are Artists too!

Interested in architecture and building? Join local architects for an informal and fun, fact-filled talk that will provide a better understanding as to why an architect does what an architect does.

Join award-winning Thornleigh architect, Robin Edmiston to learn about the art of architecture. Robin is a recipient of the prestigious Wilkinson Award for Residential Architecture and his plywood home will be one of the projects illustrated in this inspirational talk.

Wallarobba – making the most of Hornsby’s heritage

Book Launch – Turner. A Cat’s Story.

The recently restored Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre is a beautiful building that reflects the history of housing in Hornsby. This once grand homestead has been repurposed many times over in its 100 year history; from family home to flats, community centre to arts hub. Join architect, Rolfe Chrystal from Architects of Arcadia, who was the lead architect on the restoration project for a talk on the building, its history, and the challenges involved in re-design.

Turner. A Cat’s Story, recounts the fantastic journey of a cat who leaps from life to life, past to present, whilst revealing the secret mysteries of all felines. Join local author Keili Shillington as she discusses her first novel and the experience of self publishing.

Northern Sydney Health District Carers Support Group

Join local printmaker and mentor, John Crawford for the Friday print studio. Bring your work, access Council’s printing press and create alongside other like minded artists in Wallarobba’s bright community art studio. Printmaking experience necessary.

This exhibition celebrates the important role of carers in the community. The artworks displayed are from Carers in the Northern Sydney region who balance caring for a family member and looking after their own health and wellbeing.
