Consisting of 4 volumes these conference proceedings are the final output of the European Science Foundation Research Project COST Action C17 "Fire Loss to Historic Buildings". The action involved participants from over 20 countries with the objective of quantifying the scale of fire loss in historic buildings throughout Europe and the exploration and promotion of methods of fire prevention.During the course of this action a number of conferences were held throughout Europe where fire loss and fire prevention methodologies both in terms of management strategies and new technology were discussed. These 4 volumes comprise the proceedings from those conferences with and contain a great deal of information vital to anyone with an interest in or responsibility for fire protection in the historic environment.
