Introduction

About I am very enthusiastic about my work and am a passionate and persistent designer. I enjoy working as a team and am comfortable being the leader of the team as well as a contributing member. I have worked on design exhibitions and have won several awards for my design. As a designer, it is my vision to always be bringing new possibilities to daily life. I do this by working to understand users and their behaviors as well as their needs, physically and phsychologically. I believe function and ethics can, and should be, intergrated into the design of any product. I enthusiastically search for ways to continuously improve myself in order to become a more sophisticated designer. Page III


Awards “Information Communication Technology Toy Design Award” Designed a toy for daily workers, allowing them to relieve pressures from daily routine. “International History Museum Creative Product Design Award” Designed a souvenir that includes educational and commercial value for the history museum “Display Design Award” in Young Designers’ Exhibition Used pure white cubes as a theme to show our final design projects “I Lin Craft Award” held by Miaoly county government Designed a product for the local government that includes new commercial values based on chinese traditional craft skills. “Shi Li Sin Product Design Award” Designed lights that can be put together like toy bricks to form any shape the user needs.

Assistant designer worked with senior designers for several projects related to product design. I was responsible for graphic and 3D Modeling. I was responsible for arranging and organizing all information on events related to our service each day, and reported to the general. I was responsible for checking boats that crossed the coast to ensure no smuggling was taking place. Participated in annual exhibition. Lead my group and was responsible for the display. Planned and organized the display of every student’s final project resulting in winning the display design award.

Assisted designer with several projects. In the two months I participated in 5 projects: computer case, Swarovski earphones, Web cam, door phone design and a web site design. I contributed my ideas and discussed the projects with senior designers. Learned how to prototype leather products and contributed design ideas through sketches and dicussions with designers.

Cloud Nine

Portable Restroom Design


Problems After enjoying an exciting outdoor concert ,the crowded portable restrooms are always frustrating.Imagine you just finished using a portable restroom and open the door. Facing you are plenty of people waiting to use it-embarrassing!

Team Work This design aims to provide an efficient solution to those sometimes embarrassing moments.

Function Route We designed a revolving door to provide an efficient route for users. Shape When these restrooms are side by side, their cambered surface maintains proper spacing between each restrooms for air circulation. Solar board The solar board saby day and provides light for restroom by night.

Research

Through researching common portable restrooms on the recent market and interviewing dozens of users, our team aimed to solve the embarrasing problem without losing the efficiency of transportation and function of portable restrooms.

Revolving Door&Route The revolving L-shaped door on this pentagonal restroom provides some orderly entering and exiting with less embarrassment and saves user’s time as well.

Team work was an important part of this project. I was resposible for the exterior design and 3D rendering of this project. Communication among team members was particularly important in this project.

Our team presented our project in the “Young Desingers’ Exhibition,” which is an annual design exhibition in Taiwan. By interacting with different visitors, we learned a lot from various points of view about our work.

Stress Modern and Urban life brings us stress. We need a simple way to release our stress without influencing our daily jobs.

Shadow We probably had the same experience in our childhood. When our mothers turned off the lights at bedtime, we hid under our bedquilt and used flash lights to continue our adventure. We used to have many imaginations about shadows. I think the pure happiness behind these memories still can bring smiles to adults.

Turn on the “Fun shadow” and a pet’s shadow will be projected on a wall.

You can use the shadow of your hands to interact with the pet.

If you make a fast movement, you can hit the pet.

Use your hands to create various kinds of shadows.This pet will have different reactions to the shadows of your gesture.

Market Fun Shadow is designed for 16~30 year old people. They have routine jobs and are passionate about on their work. When they become too tired to focus, they can just take a break and play with the pet project Fun Shadow. It doesn’t take too much time. They can interact with the Pet; then go back to work with a relaxing smile.

EarPhone + Pendant 2011SWAROVSKI Design Contest


Two concepts for SWAROVSKI Design Contest Problem

We all like to have music around us so we are used to wearing earphones everwhere; however, when we have to take them off, the long wire seems to be really annoying.

Pendant My concept is simple. Users can elegantly let earphones be a beautiful pendant hanging on the neck when users need to focus on other things rather than the music from the earphones. I created two concepts based on this idea.

Magnet When users don’t need the earphones, they can be attatched together by magnet placed in the bottom of the earphones. Then, users just let the earphones hang around their necks as a pendant. Earphones It is also an elegant earphone which looks like ear pendants.

Transparent & Flexible Plastic The base is made of flexible plastic which can firmly hold the earphones and gems, yet earphones still can be removed easily when users need them.

Nokia Gesture Nokia conceptual design contest


Gesture There is no buttons for dialing. The most intuitive methods are used. A simple gesture can call a friend.

Usage Users can gesture differently to control this cell phone. I hope this is able to give users a warm experience while using technology.

GESTURE Gesture is the most simple and natural method of communicating. If we gesture to control a cell phone, the experience of using technology can contain more humanity and emotion. A cell phone can be more than a cold machine.

My styling Application Online clothes shopping is a daily routine for some people. With online shopping it is hard to imagine what the clothes will look like when the shopper actually wears them. Shoppers often buy from many different brands and it takes a lot of time and effort to eventually find everything a shopper wants. This online clothes shopping applicatioin integrates different brands, combining items and simulating the look the user is trying to achieve. Users can save the images and share online for feedback from friends before making the final purchases.

P.O.S. Design for impaired drivers A 3-level system that detects, prevents and protects drivers from traffic accidents caused during bad physical conditions.

GREEN STATUS/NORMAL MODE


Under Normal Mode (GREEN STATUS) Three components of the system are running: 1. An eye tracking camera is used to follow the movements of the driver’s eyes. 2. Pressure sensors around the steering wheel records the tension changes in driver’s hands. 3. Alcohol sensors inside the steering wheel detects driver’s BAC level. According to the data collected by these components, the system will decide if the other mode needs to be activated. By researching the different situations of impaired drivers, we find that when they are in troublethey are more likely to close their eyes or take their hands off the steering wheel. Both these actions can be detected by the system and processed properly. Even if their illness is not detected by the system, they can always use the mode-switch button on the steering wheel to ask the vehicle for help.

ACTIVE conditions leading to mode change If the system mistakes normal conditions for a secure status, the driver can utilize the ITS system to return to normal mode.

Under Secure Mode (YELLOW STATUS) Under Secure Mode (YELLOW STATUS) First of all, a notification window will show up on the screen with a continuous alarm to remind driver the mode is changed, also works as a wake up call to the sleepy or passed-out driver. Besides the already-running components, more modules start to function: 1. Electronic speed limit brakes gently to maintain current speed limits, also prevented unnecessary sudden braking. 2. An external camera is back online to monitor both the driving lane and traffic signals. It helps the driver keep on the proper lane with out breaking traffic rules. 3. Anti-collision radars around the vehicle updates the real-time envi ronment status to the driving computer to avoid potential accidents. 4. Navigation system will search nearby POI and provide suggestions for rest or medical care by voice. 5. Three seconds before red mode is launched, an alert is sounded to inform the driver the car is going to start emergency mode(Red Status).

RED STATUS/EMERGENCY MODE

After a long drive, Sam feels worse than before. He suddenly experiences a terrible headache before he loses his consciouness. The system detects emergency condition and converts to red status. the car automatically pull over graduatly and safely.The system calls 911.


Under Emergency Mode (RED STATUS) With the system being fully functional, the driving computer will take over the control of the car and performs a safe road side stop by following these steps: 1. Thanks to the advanced camera and sensors, the car will try to pull over. 2. After step 1, the car will turn on the AC or heater for maintaining temperature. The system will shut clown the engine and open the window a bit to creare a relatively safe and comfortable environment. 3. Though unconscious, the system will still inform the dricer of all procedures to try and assist him.

My team was selected for the design and construction of the Senior Industrial Design show, YOUNG DESIGNERS’ EXHIBITION. The title of the show was #FFFFFF , which is the computer code for white, reflecting our design concept of purity and simplicity. These images are planned for the exhibition.

CONSTUCTION

POLYSTYRENE

We used POLYSTYRENE cubes as platforms to display our work and built the wooden wall to support cubes and to surround our site.

Recycling

When this exhibition was finished, we paid a recycling company to recycle all Polystyrene.

Detail The sizes of Polystyrene cubes were accurately measured before they were cut in the factory; then we delivered all cubes to the exhibition. Thousands of cubes were individually assembled according to the blueprint we designed.

The words of the sign below were segmented by the machine based on the blueprint drawn by AutoCAD before the words were connected to each other.
