Newark is a city that is once again becoming a place with a diverse population and industrial base. As a commercial hub in the early 20th century, Newark possesses an infrastructure that yearns to be exhumed and re-awakened. A new approach of sustainability, community and open-source fellowship is needed more than ever before. There is a need to redefine Newark as a great city. With a dearth of community centers in a city severely wounded by neglect since the mid 60's, an opportunity for Newark's people to share with one another through culture and community activities is at hand. Local farming, markets and open activities are a way for us to learn from one another, and cultivate common interests and priorities. Combining outdoor space with architecture and landscaping or 'Advertecture', this system can be implemented in many configurations while remaining with core design principles, materials and details.

What is often overlooked about Newark as a major urban center is the majesty of its architectural treasures and landmark sites.

Echoing adjacent industrial factories, lift bridges and other landmarks along the Passaic River; new observation towers and parks can once again uncover and celebrate these important sites. With a nod to their hardened surroundings, they help bare Newark's hidden pastoral soul to nourish its people.
