Remembering Hull Truck Theatre in your Will
“The bargain of real, proper theatre is when a group of human beings on stage get together with a group of human beings in the audience to fearlessly celebrate their human being-ness. Pass it on.” Mike Bradwell Founder, Hull Truck Theatre
Securing the future of your theatre Thank you for finding out more about leaving a gift to Hull Truck Theatre. Over the years, I know that this cultural institution has come to hold special memories for so many people – from the incredible shows performed on our stage to the amazing talent that has helped shape our work. Our founder, Mike Bradwell, believed that theatre could change the world. We still do. We make unashamedly uncompromising theatre… and we take our work into the heart of our local communities so that everyone can share in the wonder of magical, live theatre experiences. During recent times our future has been under threat. It reaffirmed to us how big a part theatre plays in bringing us together and the power of human connection.

Though we’re immensely grateful for our generous public funding, this makes up just over half of our income. We have to raise the rest of any funding ourselves – from both ticket sales and charitable gifts and grants. Your generosity in making a donation via your Will could make a huge difference to our future. Could you consider leaving a lasting legacy to the theatre you love? Every gift, large or small, will make a great contribution to our future. Just 1% of the remainder of your estate could make a lasting difference right at the heart of our work both onstage and in the community. There are so many ways you could support Hull Truck Theatre. Your donation could help:
Choose the way that feels right for you Any gift, large or small will make a lasting difference. You can choose to leave your gift to a particular area of our work, or if unrestricted we will make sure we target the area of greatest need.
Residuary gift With a residuary gift you can leave the theatre a percentage of what’s left over once all the gifts in your Will (such as fixed sums of money or specific items) have been made. Because this option is about the residue of your estate, you don’t have to worry about affording a specific amount, or the value of your estate declining if you need care later on – a gift of 10% would always be calculated on the value of what’s left over. For example: “I give …..% of my residuary estate to Hull Truck Theatre Company Ltd, 50 Ferensway, Hull, HU2 8LB (Registered charity no 269245)”.
Pecuniary gift If you would prefer to leave a fixed sum of money, for example: “I give to Hull Truck Theatre Company Ltd, 50 Ferensway, Hull, HU2 8LB (Registered charity no 269245) the sum of £…..”.
Specific gift If you want to leave a specific item for Hull Truck Theatre i.e. A property or shares. “I give ….(describe what’s to be given) to Hull Truck Theatre Company Ltd, 50 Ferensway, Hull, HU2 8LB (Registered charity no 269245)”.
Talk to your solicitor Whether you are writing or amending a Will, we would strongly recommend that you seek professional advice from a qualified solicitor before finalising any decisions.
