COMEDY MUSIC FAMILY DRAMA FILM EVENTS
WELCOME
Play your part
We’re delighted to announce our summer season. We hope you were able to join us earlier in the year to celebrate our 50th anniversary so far, but if not then there’s still plenty to be excited about in our home produced work and vibrant, varied visiting programme.
Theatre connects us together. We believe in the power of great theatre. Do you?
It was wonderful to see the theatre full of audiences enjoying 71 Coltman Street, as we looked back at the origins of the company. We can’t wait to follow this with John Godber bringing his hit 1984 play about the education system up to date. Teechers Leavers ’22 is physical, funny and bursting with youthful enthusiasm. Core to Hull Truck Theatre’s work is supporting artists and developing local talent at all ages and career stages; it was very important to us to be able to switch elements of this support online during the pandemic. However, we can’t wait to make a welcome live return to our Grow Season which has a packed programme of performances, sharings, workshops and networking opportunities, delivered in partnership with Freedom Festival. We love this time of year when the theatre is buzzing with new work, ideas and inspiring artists. In July we’re putting local communities centre stage as residents from Hull and East Yorkshire join members of Act III (our over 55s theatre makers group) and youth theatre alumni to present A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Don’t miss Shakespeare’s romantic comedy masterpiece being brought to life by a cast of 50 creative local performers.
Mark Babych Artistic Director
Janthi Mills-Ward Executive Director
Our income remains under pressure following the pandemic and with the rising costs that affect us all, we’re relying on your generosity and support more than ever to ensure the theatre thrives for the Next 50 years. Here are some ways that you could play your part:
Supporting Cast Pledge a regular gift and help us to plan securely for the future.
Dedicate a Seat Mark your connection at this special time.
Give The Gift of Theatre Open the door to share the magic of theatre with someone else.
Remember us in Your Will Make a transformational difference to our future with a legacy gift.
Thank you for EVERYTHING you make possible. To find out more about how you can support the next 50 years, visit www.hulltruck.co.uk/support-us or contact us on 01482 323638 / development@hulltruck.co.uk.

Post Show Q&A WED 1 JUNE, After 7.30pm show DRAMA DEAL
In 1987 the teaching of drama in Comprehensive education was being marginalised in a system under pressure. In the same year Hull Truck Theatre produced Teechers which was to become the go-to play to attract young people to the theatre. Thirty-five years later, exam chaos, tech poverty, isolation, absenteeism and lost school hours have put the state system under more pressure than ever before. Highly physical, hugely funny, deceptively radical, mixing dance and spoken word, Teechers Leavers ’22 is alive and in your face; back in Hull where it all started.

ACCESS
through the signs of an interpreter, who is on stage during the performance.
Look out for these access symbols on the show pages for performance dates and times.
Relaxed Performances are specifically designed to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed environment. They include additional lighting, a friendly attitude to noise and movement in the theatre and we can also offer additional space if requested.
Audio Description provides information about the visual elements of a show, for those who are blind or visually impaired. The Box Office can provide an infra-red headset, upon request, and audio description is delivered live, in between dialogue. Touch Tours are available 90 mins prior to the audio described show and last approx. 30 mins. Touch Tours allow blind and visually impaired patrons the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the set, costumes and props, ahead of the show. Places must be booked with the Box Office, 48hrs in advance. Theatre captions are similar to television subtitles and convert spoken word in to visible text that provides those who are Deaf, deafened or hard of hearing with access to live performances. British Sign Language (BSL) performances enable Deaf BSL users to understand the performance
Booking Access Tickets Online
If you regularly require a wheelchair space or best view of captions screens/ BSL interpreter seats, we would love to show you how to book them online yourself. You can visit the Access page on our website and find instructions under ’Accessible Guides & Info’, or contact the Box Office and we’ll be happy to go through the process with you. Assistance dogs are welcome in the theatre and performance spaces. If you are going to be accompanied by an assistance dog please contact the Box Office, in advance of booking, so that we can make arrangements to either seat you together during the show or dog sit for you.
COVID-19: KEEPING OUR AUDIENCES SAFE We are continuing to take your safety seriously and the following Covid 19 safety measures will remain in place during the season: hand sanitisation stations, enhanced ventilation, regular cleaning and the use of digital tickets.
