MOOD ARTIST RESIDENCY OBJECTIVE
CA
MOOD is an independent project from idea to site to design. The residency will offer an opportunity for artists to live and work outside of their usual environments, providing them with time to reflect, research, and produce work.
CONCEPT
WELLNESS BASED FOCUSES
MOOD provides a moment. A place for limitless exploration, fruitful collaboration, and unbashful curiosity.
SOLUTION Develop a multi-building complex that encourages movement and cross-pollination between artists. Offer a variety of working conditions to fit the needs of any user, allowing the artist to hone in on existing skills or experiment with new mediums. All while working to exceed the WELL Building Standard.

FOSTER AND ADOPTION CENTER FIT OUT
FOSTER & ADOPTION CENTER OBJECTIVE Work with a local non-profit organization, FAC, to design a fit out for their new headquarters. Through meetings and visioning sessions, develop a design that will transform their space into an experience for FAC employees, foster parents, and children.
CONCEPT My design concept abstracts the idea of a child’s artwork by embracing imperfections and radiating positivity. Zones of experience will be established through organic nooks and color blocking.
SOLUTION Use playful pathways, colors, and furniture to incorporate joy into each space for an inspiring, uplifting, and kid-friendly environment.

MATERIALS AND FURNISHINGS NEAT DINING CHAIR: BLU DOT
ACCENT SIDE TABLE: MATER
Blu dot’s neat collection offers rounded edges and playful color options that support the concept perfectly.
The natural wood helps ground the design’s colorful palette; The organic curves of mater’s tables compliment the flowing walls of the office.
ACOUSTIC FELT: BUZZI
BLUE SPOTTED CARPET TILE: FORBO FLOORING
This adhesive felt is placed throughout the office to add texture, depth, and to limit the mid and high tones in the surrounding areas.
Carpet tiles were the smartest flooring option because they help absorb the sound of a busy office and they are easy and cheap to replace.
RIPPLE LOUNGE BENCH: COALESSE The ripple bench was chosen as a playful and practical seating option.
CONFERENCE AREA THIS COLLABORATION ZONE IS OPEN TO THE HALL SO THAT EMPLOYEES TRAVELING TO/FROM THEIR DESK, A MEETING, OR THE BREAK ROOM CAN INTERACT WITH IDEAS AS THEY PASS BY. A CUSTOM CONFERENCE TABLE WAS DESIGNED TO DRAW IN CURIOUS MINDS BY PEEKING THE END INTO THE HALL, JUST ENOUGH TO PIQUE CURIOUSITY.
ORGANIC PATHS THE SCATTERED NOOKS OFFER OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE EMPLOYEES TO STEP AWAY FROM THEIR DESK. THEY ADD TO THE ORGANIC FLOW OF THE HALLS, GUIDING THE USER THROUGH THE CAREFREE COLORFUL ENVIRONMENT. THOUGHTFULLY PLACED MURALS PULL USERS AROUND CORNERS TO KEEP ENJOYING THE JOURNEY.
ALZHEIMER’S VILLAGE EVIDENCE-BASED DESIGN
ALZHEIMER’S VILLAGE OBJECTIVE
CA
Design a commercial village for an existing memory care facility for seniors who have mild to moderate Alzheimers disease.
LA JOLLA
CONCEPT Every corner has been thoughtfully designed to provide users with a sense of normalcy. The design offers awareness by incorporating the familiar comfort of native flora. The community is connected and supported through uninterrupted views.
RESEARCH DRIVEN GOALS
SOLUTION Soft edges and looping pathways guide users and link interior and exterior spaces. This provides an engaging environment that allows for connection and discovery.
