He said: “Chadwick Lawrence is delighted to sponsor the Examiner Business Awards for the seventh year running. “Chadwick Lawrence is a key player in bringing local businesses together. As an active member of the Yorkshire business community, the company attributes much of its success to the local profile it has worked hard to build. “This constant interaction with the region’s businesses means Chadwick Lawrence understands the issues facing companies based in Yorkshire and are ideally placed to help. “Having had a major presence in Huddersfield
town centre over a number of years, the law firm has recently invested in a Leeds city centre office, giving the company true coverage of the West Yorkshire region and affirming its position as Yorkshire’s Legal People.” Examiner editor Roy Wright said: “In these troubled economic times there's more reason than ever to celebrate business success. “Companies of all sizes across a wide range of sectors have overcome serious challenges to boost exports, create jobs, bring new products and services to market and invest in their staff and equipment. “The Examiner Business Awards 2012 provide a chance to recognise that hard work. Playing a major part in town’s business sector LAW firm Chadwick Lawrence – “Yorkshire’s Legal People” – is delighted to announce its seventh annual sponsorship of the Examiner Business Awards.
Having sponsored the awards from the beginning, Chadwick Lawrence is a prominent member of the regional business community. And the firm believes in celebrating the success of local organisations – to recognise their achievements, encourage further economic growth and attract more investment to the Yorkshire area. Chadwick Lawrence has offices throughout the region including a new central Leeds location and a major, long-standing base in Huddersfield. The company takes the opportunity to actively support regional initiatives. It stages regular free seminars and training for local business and is a keen supporter of the Huddersfield Town Centre Partnership, taking a keen interest in promoting efforts to foster economic growth. The law firm is also heavily involved with other business groups working to highlight current issues affecting the business community. Jeremy Garside, managing partner of Chadwick Lawrence, said: “Working in partnership with our many commercial clients we quickly identify trends and issues affecting the region’s businesses – and as a result we work proactively with customers to address these.” It is this approach that has led to Chadwick
Lawrence having many long-term relationships with its commercial clients. The team works predominantly with small to medium-sized businesses with up to a £40m turnover and is able to handle almost all aspects of business law. The Chadwick Lawrence commercial services team is made up of three departments – corporate and commercial property, commercial litigation (including regulatory law) and employment law. The growth and expansion of the team resulted in the move into central Leeds earlier this year. Accessing the right advice at the right time is crucial for business owners who are faced with making important decisions about the future of their business or indeed in handling any other problems, challenges or dilemmas they may encounter. The recent economic climate has brought new questions and challenges for property-based businesses. The launch of a specialist legal team to assist businesses with commercial property advice and risk management has proved invaluable in helping the owners of commercial property and landlords – or indeed tenants. Specialist solicitors regularly handle cases in areas such as employment law, commercial contracts, commercial property work, employee compliance and training, disputes, licensing and planning, health and safety and much more. With several offices throughout the region, Chadwick Lawrence covers the whole of West Yorkshire.

Company goes from strength to strength A MANUFACTURING firm has enjoyed signal success after lifting one of the major trophies at last year’s Examiner Business Awards. Dual Seal Glass was the
worthy winner of the category for Business of the Year at the 2011 awards last November. The company was formed in 1995 by father and son David and Nigel Meredith to make double glazing units for houses – before switching to the commercial sector. Dual Seal moved from 12,000sq ft premises at Milnsbridge to a bigger site on Leeds Road and invested £1m in state-of-the-art cutting equipment. Dual Seal has supplied glass to contracts across the UK and mainland Europe. Most of those projects are for offices, hospitals, hotels and sporting venues – including Doncaster racecourse, Edgbaston Cricket Ground and numerous football grounds. The company has also worked on Huddersfield University’s creative arts building and Kirklees College’s Waterfront development. However, since winning the award last year, the firm has gone from strength to strength. Its most recent development has been to install a new toughening furnace to increase capacity
and improve energy efficiency. Nigel Meredith, commercial director, said: “Since winning the Business of the Year award, Dual Seal Glass has gone on to register a record turnover for the company of £11m with increased profits. “Despite a major downturn in the construction industry, we have continued to buck the trend. “Our recent £1m investment in a new state-of-the-art energy-saving toughening furnace – the first of its kind in the UK – has increased our size capability and meant a large influx of new enquiries and subsequently orders.” Mr Meredith said: “The prestige of winning the Examiner Business Awards has definitely led to an increased awareness about our company and increased exposure in the glass and construction publications throughout the UK. “It has also put a ‘spring in the step’ of everybody throughout our organisation to know that our company has been recognised locally for its achievements.”
