Earlier this year he made his American debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York, and he brings to Dewsbury a wonderful programme including Chopin’s Revolutionary study, Gershwin’s Three Preludes and Liszt’s massive Mephisto Waltz No. 1. He is also well-known as a composer and improviser so the programme will include his own improvisation on Gershwin’s I got rhythm. The ever popular Festival of Light returns to Huddersfield this winter with trapeze artists and musicians suspended high above the crowds.
Unlike last year, when the show was a procession through the town centre, this year’s entertainment will all be in the newly renovated St George’s Square. Audiences can look forward to a great view of the performance, as a lot of it will be performed from high up in the air.

The real ice-rink returns to Huddersfield for the fourth year running. The rink opens on Thursday 3 December and runs until Sunday 3 January in the centre of Huddersfield. And as an added bonus, prices have been frozen this year with adults paying £6 and children (aged 16 and under) and Kirklees passport holders skating for just £3.50. Whether you are an experienced skater or a beginner you will find a session that suits. Friday nights give skaters a chance to show off with the freestyle and speed skating sessions and Saturday and Sunday mornings offer beginners a chance to learn with a group instructor.
