elcome to the fall edition of Hudson Reporter Family, our friendly user’s guide to all things family in Hoboken, Jersey City and a few beyond. In these pages you will find lots of information and resources, including plenty of updates from our last edition. Now that fall is approaching, the time has come to start looking for seasonal activities, perhaps do a little holiday shopping, and, of course, find some things to do with the kiddos that will keep them busy (and keep you sane) during the colder months. This guide was put together by parents, for parents to help make your job a little easier. There’s plenty for moms and dads to do without having to track down every single place that offers dance classes in the area. And when the time comes to take your little one to story time, it would be nice to just get up and go, right? Our goal is to provide you with a fun, useful guide that is easy to navigate when you’re in a pinch. So put down that massive list you’ve been creating, pick up this guide and peruse all of the activities and services available here in our community. And hey, if you have a few minutes of peace and quiet, why not grab a cup of coffee while you’re at it?

Everything you’re looking for, in one place

City living can get a little claustrophobic in the winter months, especially when you’ve got little ones just itching to get outside. Living in Hoboken and Jersey City, we have access to some of the most incredible resources right in our “backyard.” In the summer there’s the bevy of parks and pools, but what about when the weather gets colder? There’s still plenty to do in Hudson County once the temperature drops past comfortable playground weather. Museums abound, dance classes heat up, and

Where to start

This guide is organized into two main categories: “Activities” and “Services.” “Activities” will provide you with just that – activities that you and your kids might want to do and places you might want to go to have some fun. Under “Services” you’ll find listings for all the necessities, such as a comprehensive list of schools (including public, charter, and private), as well as after school programs. There’s something to fit every situation, whether your child wants to learn how to swim, ice skate or frolic in a local play. And there’s stuff for you too, including parenting education services and resources.

Growing resources

Once you’ve gone through the guide once to familiarize yourself with everything that is available, be sure to keep it around as a resource guide – at least until our next edition comes out in spring. And the next time you’re looking for an activity or service, remember – the searching has already been done for you! The information provided here in Hudson Reporter Family is updated with each edition, so if you notice one of your favorites is missing or if you have any other suggestions, please email tishk@hudsonreporter.com and put HR FAMILY in the subject line. We are striving to make Hudson Reporter Family the ultimate resource guide for the families of Hudson County!

Already thinking about the options for your preschooler next year? Take a look in our education section. While you’re at it, be sure to check out some of the parenting groups in our area.
