PROBLEM
In one year of regular paper towel use...
CO2 A tree is destroyed
23 pounds of waste is created
The first step to a sustainable household.
250 gallons of water are wasted
34 pounds of carbon emissions are produced
OPPORTUNITY
There are an infinite number of products on the market that enhance the convenience of paper towels. There are very few products that effectively enhance the convenience of cloth towel usage, zero do it in a user friendly way. Environmental issues are being brought into the household more and more frequently as the first step in a sustainable society. A product would be able to effectively penetrate the market by both harnessing the potential of environmentally friendly products and enhancing the convenience of cloth towel usage. Paper towels are one of the most detrimental household items, environmentally speaking. If Bin can reduce the usage of paper towels in the household by one roll, it can save nearly one million trees.

User Needs • Apartment Storage • Versatility • Durability • Simplicity
The target user group for the UJuice is a health conscious apartment dweller. The age range of early twenties to mid thirties accommodates a group of early adapters that are the first to embrace the new trend of juicing at home. The design must address the factors of simplicity and versatility to overcome the growing trend of juice bars. By addressing issues of simplicity and storage UJuice will separate itself from the current market and become an entire system for a new healthy lifestyle.

Form Studies
In storage.
Insert sports bottle.
Elevated form allows for collapsible design and pulp container incorporation.
Two containers needed for horizontal auger.
Storage of additional parts is incorporated to reduce space.
Motor configuration won’t allow for the use of a thermos or vertical container.
Pull out auger.
Remove feed chute from storage container.
Insert fruit or vegetables.
A rear motor setting would give room to a better interface and more attractive profile form.
Attach feed chute and juice as normal.
Invert feed chute for storage.
Inversion of feed chute greatly increases the storability.
Initial Model User Feedback Maximize Space Empty interior space can be maximized for optimal storage and lowered production cost.
Visual Feedback The blank face of the front of the juicer offers no user integrated experience and isn’t physically or mentally stimulating.
Questionable Stability A thermoplastic elastomer legs and base could cause the product to be unstable during the juicing process.
