Defining the Problems GE Juice Extractor 16901 Food Preparation Drinking and Pouring

Disassembly and Cleaning

High rpm just throws the wet pulp around with little production.

Seven total pieces to assemble each time

Juicing

Entire sink filled for wash and dry.

Assembly Drying and Storage

Doesn’t allow for multiple cup sizes, causing messes

Initial Form Ideation Vertical & Horizontal

Horizontal Form Study

In storage.

Pull out auger.

Motor configuration won’t allow for the use of a thermos or vertical container.

Remove feed chute from storage container.

Storage of additional parts is incorporated to reduce space.

Attach feed chute and juice as normal.

Two containers needed for horizontal auger.

Vertical Form Study

Insert sports bottle.

Elevated form allows for collapsible design and pulp container incorporation.

Insert fruit or vegetables.

A rear motor setting would give room to a better interface and more attractive profile form.

Invert feed chute for storage.

Inversion of feed chute greatly increases the storability.

Initial Model

6 2

Initial Solidworks/Cad model presented for critique. Model built strictly on function without styling.

Initial Model User Feedback Maximize Space Empty interior space can be maximized for optimal storage and lowered production cost.

Visual Feedback The blank face of the front of the juicer offers no user integrated experience and isn’t physically or mentally stimulating.

Questionable Stability A thermoplastic elastomer legs and base could cause the product to be unstable during the juicing process.

Must have a marketable, cohesive and appealing design.

Final Design Height Adjustment

Adjustable height allows the user to customize the product for their needs and streamlines the drinking and cleaning process.

Versatility

Blank plate incorporation allows for the transition from a juicer to a grinder and a revolutionary healthy lifestyle product.

Storage

Compacts down from 18 to a fully manageable 9.5, smaller than any juicer on the market.

Durability

A silicone wiping blade prevents pulp build up during juicing.

6 2

Extend legs to functional mode.

Insert cup and lock in feed chute.

Personalize height and plug in.

Extend legs and remove drink.

Dispose of pulp created from juicing.

Remove and wash parts as needed.

Remove from storage. Vertical auger juicing process.
