As usual I would like to welcome the officials, staff, management, coaches, players and supporters of Corinthian-Casuals today.

Thursday night the owners got to speak regarding the scenario they feel we are in with the current costs of the Main Stand repair and what they feel they will need to do based on the fact the new stadium development is currently on ice.

I’m writing these notes beforehand so it’s very tough for me to write how I’m feeling.

Hastings United Football Club has a long, sometimes rocky history in our town, under different ownerships, names etc, however I am very proud

in 3 years we have finally turned this club into a community asset in what we do for youth football, our local events and our outreach that I know the council are understanding and appreciative of but have their own views on why a stadium cannot be built at Tilekiln.

Leaving Hastings should never ever be something considered but the owners have their reasoning.

I will always do what I believe is right for Hastings United Football Club to the best of my ability in my capacity up to what I am allowed to do.

Afternoon everyone.

Welcome to today’s match against Corinthian-Casuals, who we entertained here not long ago in the Velocity Cup.

They find themselves near the bottom, but looking at their recent performances I feel they’ve turned a corner and we must show them the upmost respect.

Unfortunately we say goodbye to Joe Gbode once again, as he returns to the Gills, he will obviously be missed but we must now show that we can crack on without him and members of the squad come to the fore. We haven’t been far away in recent weeks, but I’m just hoping we can go up a gear and show intensity from the first to the last whistle.

As part of the bizzare FA shuffle of the semi-pro game - Casual's play off final defeat by Walton Casuals the following season didn't matter a bit as their points per game tally compared to other step 4 play off finalists was good enough for them to grab a step 3 slot and they've stayed there ever since. More bizzare machinations by the FA saw Walton Casuals end up in the new Southern League South Premier where they surely never expected to be. Trips to Dorsetshire, Devon and South Wales as opposed to the more compact Isthmian Premier. Surely all linked with Walton Casuals folding in the recent close season.

TROPHY NO MORE

So it's Chippenham Town who move onto the 3rd Round of the FA Trophy after the Wiltshire outfit finally put one over United at the 4th attempt. 2-1 it finished here a week ago. Sounds like the U's gave a decent account of themselves against National South opposition and made a few quid out of their 3 ties in this season's competition£6450. Time to move on.

Points at stake this afternoon and a rather different side no doubt after the recent Velocity Trophy encounter here. Casuals have endured a torrid season with things hopefully looking up for them lately with them able to play games at their home ground which was inaccessible due to a large tree toppling off the adjacent railway embankment right onto the football club's main building. For one reason or another it's taken a while to resolve the problem, they must be pleased to be back at home and wanting to deal with their parlous league placing.

Casuals - going back to 2016-17, lost out on penalties in the promotion play offs final to Dorking Wanderers who had beaten us (penalties again) in the semi final. I will never be a fan of play offs but that U's performance that evening saw us 4 minutes away from playing Casualshuge disappointment. Look where Dorking W are now!!!

As is the case with the Velocity Trophy. Gary fielded the young uns for the Tuesday night game at Whitehawk who are going well in Isthmian SE an d it finished 3-1 to the Hawks. First time we've lost to them since we resumed contact a few seasons back when they dropped down two levels from National South.

It's a tribute to the Academy set up that Gary's able to give so many of the young uns a crack at competitions like the Velocity and the Sussex Senior Cups with - as the standards get higherthe likes of Fielding, Lovatt and Rodari getting into the 1st team for the competitions that matter. Let's see who steps up for the challenge of Isthmian Premier football and gets a regular 1st team place. It gets harder now with the 1st team playing at a higher standard.

The scorer of United's goal at Middlesbrough in that famous FA Cup 3rd Round tie 10 seasons ago is playing Isthmian SE football for league newcomers Beckenham Town who have settled in nicely at step 4. We, of course, played an FA Cup tie at Beckenham Town last season. Bradley had spells at Bromley and Welling. Welcome back to the Isthmian League, fella.

Didn't they just. And three goals disallowed. Truly sorry to see decisions go against them - and yes, I can't let '86 go when a big decision went their way. Check this out.......

Nauseating. Right time to share it with the world my backside - pocketing a huge sum of money more like. Rubs salt in the wound of 86 - you can tolerate a mistake (eventually) but seeing the person responsible for the error m ake loadsa money out of it after years of Maradona laughing at our expense - nah, not for me .

England certainly hit the ground running in Qatar. I can't have been the only one expecting them to scrape a 1-0 against Iran. We've seen the T20 cricket and Wheelchair Rugby League World Cups won by England with the Women's Rugby Union side, a player short for over an hour, getting within 3 points of winners New Zealand. 56 years of coming up short in football - that's a good start.

HASTINGS TOWN REVIVAL?

I'm a United mk1 follower and still recall with great sadness the demise of the U's way back in the close season of 1985. Stayed up in the Southern Premier by the skin of their teeth only for financial affairs to have the final word. That, of course, saw Hastings Town taking over here and - I recall it was some U's players signing for Town that sparked off my interest - that saw good crowds at The Pilot Field as Town had a more than decent crack at Beazer Homes Southern League (South) football.

Still very sketchy - info about Hastings Town mk2. Had a look on Fa cebook, not much there. I recall back in 2002-3 being saddened to see the end of Town with that countered by the revival of the United name.

It's all about your town being well represented by your local football team. Whatever the name. Let's see what happens.

Round up of last Tuesday

Potters Bar Town last night opened up a four point gap at the top of the Pitching In Isthmian Premier - but we’ve really no idea how they managed it. As the clock ticked around to eightyone minutes at the Lantern Stadium last Tuesday night it was visitors Lewes who were ahead, and indeed had a two goal cushion - and even as it reached the very last minute the Rooks were still ah ead, and yet, somehow, it was the Scholars who took the points. We suspect that if there was ever a time for Scholars boss Sammy Moore to buy a lottery ticket, it’s now!

Joe Taylor opened the scoring for the visitors after just seven minutes, putting away a cross from Ayo Olukoga, and two minutes before the break the same player doubled the Rooks advantage, the ball laid to him from an indirect free kick to blast home. At this point the Scholars rallied, and Kasim Aidoo, who scored both goals in the victory at Haringey Borough at the weekend, added another to reduce the arrears - but only six minutes after the break TQ Addy restored the Rooks two goal cushion and with ten minutes to go the visitors were sitting comfortably. Sadly for the travelling faithful, the Scholars then set fire to their seats.

Miles -Mitchell Nelson pulled a goal back with nine minutes left, his deflected shot beating Lewis Carey in the Lewes goal, and suddenly it was all hands to the pumps for the visitors- but the pumps were defective. Just before the end Mo Kamara forced the ball home to level, and it looked as if the Rooks would have to settle for a point- but they didn’t even get that. Somehow, Rudy Allen found the time and space to volley home a fourth, and the Scholars had produced a comeback that even Lazarus would have found unlikely, ending the visitors seven match unbeaten run and ensuring that Town were sitting pretty at the summit.

HISTORY

THE CLUB'S ORIGINS

Corinthian-Casuals Football Club was formed in 1939 following the merger of the two great amateur sides bearing those names.

The Corinthians were founded in 1882. N.L. “Pa” Jackson, who was then Assistant Honorary Secretary of the Football Association, aimed to develop a club side capable of bolstering England's national team and challenging Scotland at international level. A meeting was held at Jackson’s offices in London’s Paternoster Row and thus was the club born. The name 'Corinthian' came from a suggestion by England international, H.A. Swepstone, which was accepted unanimously. In the recently published history of the club, “Play Up Corinth,” author Rob Cavallini explains “the most likely explanation for this choice … is the word’s long forgotten meaning – ‘man of fashion and pleasure,’ which captures the whole essence of the playing membership and their sporting ideology.”

The Casuals were formed in 1883 by a group of old boys from England's prominent public schools and rapidly became a strong force in the amateur game, providing Corinthians with many of their first team players. In 1905 they became founding members of the Isthmian League, won the AFA Senior Cup in 1907 and the FA Amateur Cup in 1936.

CORINTHIAN-CASUALS

The newly amalgamated Corinthian-Casuals Football Club had played only one game before World War II broke out and the league was suspended. Remarkably, the team made the decision to tour France in the spring of 1940 as part of a Red Cross party, however they

were forced to return home in haste when the German offensive was launched on May 10th. Come the recommencement of football in 1945, the new club proudly took Casuals' old place in the Isthmian League, where it would remain for another 39 years. It was decided that they would wear the famous chocolate and pink colours of the Casuals for their home matches, and Corinthian white away.

In 1954, the club beat Epsom 2-0 to win the Surrey Senior Cup. Two years later in 1956, they reached the FA Amateur Cup Final, drawing 1-1 with Bishop Auckland at a packed Wembley Stadium. However the legendary northeastern club won the replay at Middlesbrough 4-1. A year later, another good run in the FA Amateur Cup saw CorinthianCasuals reach the semi-final where they eventually succumbed to Wycombe Wanderers at Highbury. After this high point, the club slipped into a long decline, a rare moment of success seeing them reach the FA Cup 1st Round in 1965/66, where Watford won 5-1.

The 1973/74 season was a historic milestone; heralding the FA's decision to abolish official 'Amateur' status. As if in empathy with the end of the amateur era, Corinthian-Casuals steadfastly refused to accept the new 'semi-professionalism' and were relegated, for the first time in their history, into Isthmian League Division 2. Further relegation followed after a third bottom finish in four years. Then, in 1984, new ground-sharing rules summarily introduced by the Isthmian League saw

the club unceremoniously thrown out of the league after 65 years of continuous membership (and in spite of a 5th place finish!) simply because the club’s long nomadic history meant it shared a ground and thus did not have one of its own (imagine that today!!). Ironically, the year this occurred was the club's best in quite a while. Casuals reached the 1st Round of the FA Cup, holding Bristol City to a goalless draw at Champion Hill, before losing 4-0 in the replay. The club also made it to the 5th Round of the FA Vase, the replacement competition for the FA Amateur Cup.

SOCRATES AND CORINTHIANS

In 1988, Corinthian-Casuals were invited to Brazil by Sao Paulo Athletic Club (SPAC) to help celebrate their centenary. SPAC had been the club of former Corinthian Charles Miller, the man credited with introducing football to Brazil. It was Corinthian's visit to Sao Paulo for a game against SPAC during their Brazilian tour in 1910 that had led to the formation of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista.

To celebrate the club's first tour of Brazil since the First World War, CorinthianCasuals also played a Corinthians Paulista XI in a match at the majestic Pacembeu Stadium, which was billed as "a father and son reunion" which the sons duly won 1-0. The goal was scored by none other than Brazilian legend Socrates (above), who played much of the second half for the visitors in the famous Chocolate and Pink.

It is a tribute to the historic significance of this event that Corinthians Paulista and Brazil legends Rivelino and Wladimir also played in the match.

THE SPARTAN LEAGUE YEARS

1988 was a truly historic year as the club, in addition to touring Brazil, finally secured its first ever home ground, taking over the lease at King George's Field from the crippled Tolworth FC. A colossal effort from the club's members helped to transform

the ground - installing turnstiles, terracing and seating, as well as completing the construction of the clubhouse. A runners-up berth in 1993 and winning the League Cup in 1995 were the highlights of the Spartan League era, before the club switched to the Combined Counties League in 1996. This was a greatly improved experience. In the first season, a runners-up spot was achieved to at last win back our place in the Isthmian League.

In 2000/01, a 5th place finish - the team’s best finish for many years - saw them miss promotion by a meagre three points, whilst the Reserves won the Suburban League South and London Intermediate Cup. In May, the club toured Brazil again, winning the Sao Paulo Athletic Invitation Cup. Victories were achieved over Paulistano and Sao Paulo AC, though SC Corinthians Paulista’s U21’s inflicted a 2-0 defeat.

The next season saw the reorganization of the Isthmian League, with a top 6 finish guaranteeing a place in the new Division 1 South. Despite being in the running for much of the season, a late slump saw the CorinthianCasuals slip to finish in 10th place. However, thanks to some astute thinking, the ground had been improved anyway, gaining a “Grade B” award. Thus, due to circumstances elsewhere, the promotion places sank to as low as 11th and the club got to play its highest level of football since 1978.

RETURN TO THE ISTHMIAN LEAGUE

Season 2006/07 saw regime change, Brian Adamson was appointed as new manager and hopes were lifted towards an improvement in fortunes. The season was certainly a tale of two halves, with the club eventually finishing second from bottom with more points than they had achieved since 2004/05, a somewhat pleasing 34. The team were very young, the majority without Isthmian level experience, and needed to gain that experience quickly. Up until December, it looked like the team would never get above 10 points. Luck did not seem to be on their side, frequently losing by a single goal. But they played exciting football, all with a speed and passion that had not been seen for several years at the Tolworth ground. With the arrival of the New Year, fortunes changed and the team produced a run of seven games without defeat. They continued with mixed fortunes, right up to the final game of the season. Here they needed to beat Leatherhead to get off the bottom of the table to be in with any hope of

avoiding relegation. The 3-1 victory achieved just that, thanks also to the late merger of Hayes & Yeading.

While the 1st XI were finding Lady Luck a little fickle with her favours, the Reserves were steadily working their way up the Suburban Premier table. They showed strong nerves when beating Sutton United in the Champions Cup semi-final 2nd Leg, coming from behind to win 2-1 on aggregate. And then in the final, when they beat Waltham Forest 4-2 on penalties, following two hours of football and as many goals apiece. Their second trophy came from a rematch of the previous season's London FA Intermediate Cup final. This time the Reserves held their nerve to beat Metrogas 5-4 on penalties.

In 2008 the club enjoyed the momentous honour of celebrating 125 years of football with a commemorative match at Wembley Stadium. After staying up on merit for four consecutive seasons it is clear that the hard work, vision and dedication of management team, Brian Adamson, Kim Harris and Keith Holloway, was beginning to pay dividends.

The 2010/11 season was the most memorable for many years as the club lifted the Surrey Senior Cup for the first time in 57 years when Leatherhead were defeated 2-0 in the final at Gander Green Lane. This triumph was a fitting tribute to Brian Adamson who stood down as manager at the end of the season to be replaced by Matt Howard.

In 2015 Corinthian-Casuals returned to Brazil to take on SC Corinthians Paulista's First XI for the first time in an historic match organised to celebrate the the opening of the Brazilian club's brand new stadium Arena Corinthians. Predictably, the Sao Paulo team came out on top, winning 3-0, but Casuals were welcomed as heroes by the locals in a truly memorable tour which was superbly documented in the BT Sports film 'Brothers In Football’.

A NEW ERA

James Bracken's arrival as Manager at the start of the 2015/16 season heralded the start of an exciting new era at Corinthian Casuals and the club only missed out on a spot in the play-offs due to a controversial points deduction. However, the following season saw the club reach the play-off Final, drawing 0-0 at Dorking Wanderers only to be cruelly denied promotion following a penalty shoot-out.

Despite the disappointment, James led Corinth to their second consecutive play-off Final in 2017/18. Sadly, once more the team were to fall at the last hurdle, losing the Final in yet another penalty shoot-out. However, due to Thurrock's resignation from the League, Corinthian-Casuals earned promotion to Step 3 as the losing Finalist with the best points-per-game average over the season.

Casuals entered the Isthmian Premier Division 2018/19 season with excitement and anticipation and successfully retained their position in the League . In the summer of 2019, The club made its first foray into Europe for many years, participating in the inaugural Egri Erbstein Tournament in Hungary. The occasion was celebrated by the UK Ambassador to Hungary, Iain Lindsay, OBE, who hosted a reception at the Embassy in the club's honour. After beating Budapest Atletikai Klub (BAK) in the semi-final, Casuals triumphed 1-0 over Testveriseg SE with a last minute winner in the final to lift the trophy in Budapest.

The 2021-22 season would be James' last as he moved on to challenges new. Tony Reid took over at the helm for a period to be replaced recently by Justin Fevrier.

Corinthian-Casuals Football Club continues to take great pride in its rich and glorious history, as well as in its present day standing as the highest ranked amateur club in England.

Has also been on the books at Northwood, Hayes & Yeading and Walton Casuals. Looking to make a play for the number one jersey this campaign after an impressive pre-season.

EDDIE ALLAN

Pushing for the Number One shirt is Eddie Allan, an imposing keeper with fine reflexes and great shot-stopping prowess. The 20 year old Mallorcan-born Eddie has played for Carshalton Athletic and Barking before joining the Casuals over the summer. Has spent time with West Ham United and earned a sports scholarship to Ardingly College.

ZAC CHISLETT

Zac comes from a strong South African footballing family and we’re delighted to welcome him to King George’s this season. The defender has plenty of experience at this level and higher having played for Hampton & Richmond, Met Police and Walton Casuals.

ERALD DESA

A centre-forward who joined in the Summer, the former Albanian youth international comes to the Casuals having played for Merstham and Cray Wanderers.

JACK KNIGHT

A striker with unbelievable intensity, Jack will never let a defence have an easy game. He joined us in the second half of last season and made an immediate impact. Jack counts Met Police as his most recent former club.

JACK TUCKER

Now in his fifth season with the Casuals, popular full-back Jack joined the Casuals from Eastbourne Town where he received Manger’s and Player’s player of the season plaudits before joining Corinth. Was a firm fan favourite at the Saffrons and is certainly the same here at King George’s. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more determined and hard-working player.

A fan favourite since joining the Casuals back in 2015 as one of James Bracken’s Sutton United originals. This tough tackling midfielder takes some beating to get off the ball. Kev is approaching 200 appearances for Corinth but arguably should’ve been more had it not been for injuries. Spent the end of last season with Sevenoaks Town.

RICARDO THOMPSON

Corinthian-Casuals Manager and Players’ player of the season, Ricardo joined us in 2021 from Whyteleafe where he also picked up similar honours. Highly praised by both former bosses, Harry Hudson and James Bracken for performances beyond his years, the midfielder has great leadership qualities that’ll hold him in good stead.

LUKE STOKOE

One half of footballing twins, Luke impressed during pre-season and looks to be a fine addition to the squad. Formerly with Oxford City and Kidlington, the 20 year old is a promising attacking midfielder.

CHARLIE EDWARDS

Very committed midfielder who joined us from titlewinning Walthamstow last season. Spurs fan. Arguably the best hair in the squad.

HAKEEM ADELAKUN

A former Crystal Palace youngster, Hakeem is a powerhouse midfielder who signed from Horsham in 2018. Hakeem has had spells at Margate, Whitehawk, Carshalton Athletic, Lewes and Havant & Waterlooville amongst others. Once scored from the halfway line at Brightlingsea Regent. Despite his imposing size, ‘Hak’ is alarmingly quick.

JAEDON REYNOLDS

Elevated to the first team squad last season after impressing for Casuals / Kinetic Academy, JR once again makes the step up this time under Tony Reid. Has also played in Bromley’s youth system. One to watch.

BEN CHEKLIT

‘Cheks’ is fast approaching 200 appearances for the club and has recently taken the Captain’s armband. Starting life with Anderlecht and playing for several recognisable Belgium clubs, the pacey winger was with James Bracken at Sutton United before moving back to Belgium. Not only talented on the pitch but also with a mic in hand – a lyrical master.

SEIDOU SANOGO

Another new face to the UBG Stadium over the summer, Seidou spent the majority of last season with East Grinstead Town having made 19 appearances and scoring three times for the Wasps. He’s also played for Westfield amongst other clubs.

Joined the Casuals in 2022 from Leatherhead. This leftfooted defensive/wide player was a welcome addition to the squad at the back-end of last season. A thorough gem, Mish is an accomplished fencer no-less (the sport, that is).

ELIJAH SIMPSON

Eli is a new addition to the Casuals this summer and brings an exciting edge to the attack. The former Tooting and Mitcham, Westfield and Farnborough striker was most recently signed to Cinch League One side Montrose after impressing in trial matches north of the border.

TROY CHIABI

A young, hungry striker who’s come through the AFC Wimbledon youth system where he spent six years. Most recently been working with ex-Casual favourite Mahrez Bettache with his ‘Rising Ballers’ project. This Zambian teenager has a bright future ahead of him.

OLUWABUNMI BABAJIDE

Young centre-forward with bags of promise. ‘Bunmi’ was previously with QPR Under-18s and also under the tutelage of former player Mahrez Bettache when playing for Rising Ballers, who recommended him for the step up to Casuals. Scored on his debut in pre-season.

TYLER CATON

Represented Fulham in their impressive academy up until joining the Casuals in summer 2022. The Scottish midfielder began his playing career with Queens Park in Glasgow, making Tyler one of a select group of players to have historically played for the two great sides, ever connected in history.

NEW MANAGER - JUSTIN FEVRIER

Corinthian-Casuals have appointed Justin Fevrier as new first team manager.

Justin was second in command to Martin Dynan at both South Park and Haywards Heath Town, leaving the Sparks alongside his now former boss in January to assume a similar role at Hanbury Park. A UEFA B licenced coach, he was formerly the boss at Lewisham Borough, and Player/Assistan Coach at Banstead Athletic.

As a player, he also turned out for Welling United, Croydon Athletic, Waltham Forest, Kingstonian, Dulwich Hamlet and Staines Town.

NEW PLAYER NEWS

Corinthian-Casuals had two new names in their squad as they defeated Herne Bay on Saturday, 5th November, with a third who started against Hastings United in the Velocity Cup.

Goalkeeper Taylor Seymour moves over on a dual registration deal with Eastbourne Borough. Taylor turned out for Worthing, Lewes and Lancing before joining Portsmouth, and, last season, on his release from Pompey spent some time with Burgess Hill Town, making twenty-six appearances before heading back to the Football League with Crawley Town.

Gucci Soulja-Osekanongo comes in on loan from Sutton United, where he has been part of the youth squad. The midfielder has already spent some time in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier this season, appearing twice for Enfield Town whilst spending August and September on Donkey Lane.

Also arriving from Gander Green Lane is Kai Tanner. Forward Kai spent time with Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion when very young but spent most of his youth career with Farnham Town, where he played U18’s, U23’s and first team football before being whisked off to Sutton in the summer of 2021.

SOME AMAZING FACTS

Some Amazing Facts About Corinthian-Casuals:

•  Corinthians were founded in 1882 by the Football Association to develop a club capable of defeating Scotland. In essence, Corinthians were the first England team.

•  Between 1883 and 1890, 52 of the 88 caps awarded against Scotland went to Corinthian players. In fact, in 1894 and 1895, Corinthians fielded the full England side twice… the only club to ever manage this feat.

•  It’s acknowledged that England wear white in homage to the Corinthian strip. It’s also a fact that Real Madrid, inspired by Corinthians, adopted their white strip.

•  It was on a tour to Brazil in 1910 which inspired locals to found their own team in Corinthian’s honour… that club has since gone on to be the largest in South America and the only team to win the FIFA World Club Championship twice (defeating Chelsea in 2011).

•  Corinthians were the English club to field the first ever Black International player.

•  The Corinthians were so good they regularly defeated league and FA Cup winning opponents. In fact, in 1904they defeated Manchester United 11-3 – their heaviest defeat to this day. The centenary of that match was played in 2004 with United claiming a 3-1 victory.

•  Corinthian-Casuals are the only club to be honoured with a Royal Coat of Arms.

•  Corinthian-Casuals are the highest ranked fully amateur team in Senior football. We maintain our original ethos of fair play and good sportsmanship across all levels of football.

We’d a match between eighth v ninth as Horsham played host to Cray Wanderers. The sides came into the match level on points and level on goal difference, the Hornets ahead only on goals scored - and that remained the same at the end, too, after Wands produced a second half comeback to take a point. The Hornets had only beaten Wands once in their previous sixteen attempts, but it looked like they were well on the way to victory at half time, as early goals from Lee Harding and Jack Mazzone left them comfortable- but that comfort was fleeting, as Anthony Cook reduced the arrears six minutes into the second half and Nyren Clunis levelled with seventeen minutes to go.

Bognor Regis Town are up to eleventh after victory over Bowers & Pitsea. Bowers, buoyed by the weekend’s win over title-chasing Aveleytheir first league win in nearly three months, went behind six minutes before the break, and it was a familiar name on the scoresheet, Nathan Odokonyero with his sixteenth of the campaign. It took until fourteen minutes from time for a second goal to arrive, and that also went to the Rocks, Sam De St Croix making it two. Billy Crook quickly got one back from the spot and the visitors had eight minutes to level, but they couldn’t find a second goal and remain fourth from bottom.

In the blue corner of North London, Wingate & Finchley welcomed Corinthian-Casuals. The hosts were far too welcoming early on, giving away a spot kick which Elijah Simpson converted to give Casuals the lead. They held that lead until three minutes from time, and by then had ten men, Trey Masikini seeing red. It took only a minute for the ten men to crumble, Ben Siggers with the equaliser.

A number of our Premier Division sides were in action in the Velocity Cup.

In the Third Round Herne Bay welcomed Sevenoaks Town, a first match for new manager Kevin Watson - and his side did him proud, Laurence Harvey and two from Kymani Thomas putting them three up at the break. Rian Bray got one back for the visitors after the break, but Bay march on.

Kingstonian were on the road to Leatherhead, and made the journey home unhappy, after the Tanners triumphed. An own goal gave the hosts a half-time lead, Corey Parchment equalised for the K’s on fifty six minutes, but Lewis Pearch delivered a winner for Leatherhead soon afterwards.

The Fourth Round had a North London derby between Haringey Borough and Enfield Town, a match which saw four goals and a penalty shootout. Marcus Wyllie gave the Towners an early lead, with Anthony Mendy levelling seven minutes before the break. Kaylen Hinds put the home side in front on sixty seven minutes, whilst Lewis Knight levelled soon afterwards to send the match to a shootout. Borough triumphed, four-three.

We also had a Kent seaside derby between Margate and Folkestone Invicta, which was won by James Bessey-Sald anha’s goal in the twenty-seventh minute. Both sides later saw red, Ade Cole departing for the hosts, Robbie Dolan for the visitors.

To complete a trio of derby matches, we had a Sussex seaside derby between Whitehawk and Hastings United - and the Hawks got back to winning ways and slayed that giant. Rob O’Toole put them ahead on twenty-six minutes, but United were level by the break as James Hull scored from the spot. After the break Joe Shelley made it two-one to the hosts, and a very late goal from Hamish Morrison made it three-one at full time.

Dreams can come true in football. On 26th November 2011

Jamie Vardy scored a goal for nonleaguers Fleetwood Town in front of a crowd of 768 in a Conference match at Gateshead. Four years later - almost to the day - on November 28th 2015 he scored for Leicester City against Manchester United. He had scored in 11 consecutive Premier League matches breaking the record of 10 set by Manchester United 's Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2003. Vardy increased the record to 12 in helping Leicester City's Premier League title challenge - surely another unlikely dream come true in itself!.
