Welcome to the TGS Pilot Field

Club CEO/Chairman

Billy Wood Welcome all to The TGS Pilot Field for another cup game as we take on Ashford United in the FA Trophy. It seems like forever and a day since our last league game however winning is momentum and today, we go into the fixture winning seven games on the bounce. Last weekend was a fantastic occasion as we went off to Chippenham Town and got a welldeserved win in the Emirates FA Cup Third Qualifying Round. The team worked so hard and were a credit to our large travelling support. It was nice to be standing behind the goal in the second-half alongside Peter Sherlock and Pat McCrossan in amongst our lively support. Peter even got involved in a few songs! It’s moments that feel me with huge pride but also a slight level of annoyance, seeing us in tight games against every National League South side we have faced in the last three seasons shows we can compete at that level, we have to continue to push and hope pandemics don’t stop us going forward in our search for National League football. I would like to take a moment to welcome Ashford United, their directors, staff, manager, coaches, and players today. A major debate sparked regarding the fuel crisis and if the league should be cancelling games, I was quite vocal in my feeling that if you want to play a

fixture you would try all you could leading up to the day to make it work. The reality is all fixtures got postponed on that evening, therefore if my theory is wrong, I am happy to be proven wrong. The strangest part of that week was watching teams travel across the counties to play FA Youth Cup games. I guess the Mums and Dads of the players didn’t have work the following morning? I travelled to Worthing to watch our U18s play, I felt we was really unlucky in the 2-1 defeat but special mention goes to Jack Bates for his rocket finish. In the FA Cup we now travel to National League side Maidenhead United. A tough but winnable fixture for this football club and I expect a large travelling support as you have done so far this season. Thank you to you all for being the best supporters around, you drive us all on to work hard for this club and deliver moments we will never forget. Back to today, let’s be loud and proud for OUR TEAM. BANG THE DRUM AND WE ROLL ON!

From the dugout

The Gaffer Good afternoon everyone. A warm welcome to Tommy, OB and their excellent Ashford Utd side. Tommy has done a fantastic job at Ashford Utd and is someone who I personally look up to in terms of what he’s achieved during his managerial career to date. Always competitive and always at the business end of the table ….. Tommy and his teams always present the toughest of tests and I’m sure today will be no different. We’re in a good place, working hard and making sure that we’re in every minute of every match - we are still a way off what I believe is our best however if we continue to put the hard miles in I’m sure we’ll carry on picking up points and moving in the right direction. As always I look forward to a packed TGS Pilot Field that is lead brilliantly by the ‘behind the goal’ support, inspired by George, Rob, Adam and co. COYU’s ...

FA TROPHY

MATCH REPORT By Bob Quinn @BobJQuinn

United brush aside 10-man Dunstable ...

3 0 Saturday 25 September 2021

FA Trophy

1st Round Qualifying Attendance: 823 Three second-half goals saw Hastings United sweep aside AFC Dunstable who had goalkeeper Jamie Head dismissed on the stroke of half-time following an altercation with United winger Dave Martin. The home side, who had dominated possession without creating a clear-cut opportunity, broke the deadlock seven minutes into the second-half courtesy of a Ben Pope penalty awarded for a foul on Tom Chalmers. A decision which further incensed the visitors. Pope doubled the lead on 68 minutes sweeping home from eight yards. Moments later Sam Hasler smashed a third from 18 yards after a swift breakaway to end Dunstable’s chances and put United into the hat for the next round.

Saturday 25th September, a 3pm kick-off in warm sunshine, players shadows on the pitch and the lightest of breezes. Pretty much perfect conditions. The ‘U’s are in their home kit of claret shirts with white shorts and socks while our visitors, the OD’s, are kitted out top to bottom in royal blue. Dunstable do the honours, but it is United who are swiftly into their stride maintaining possession before twice Craig Stone sets Lloyd Dawes away down the right. On six minutes United win a corner, the cross bounces around before landing at Stone’s feet and his shot on the turn from 12 yards is tipped over the bar by Head. Not sure how much he knew about it, but either way the ball hit his glove and flew over. United are so much in control they seamlessly switch to three at the back with full-back Marcus Goldsmith making himself the extra man in midfield. Time with the ball though doesn’t equate to chances with Dunstable holding their own at the back. United only have Hasler’s shot, deflected narrowly wide with Head rooted to the spot, to show for their positive start. Indeed Dunstable conjure their own opportunity when they break down the right and a cross falls for Jervon Campbell who shoots on the turn but over. A decent chance then does arrive for Pope. Hasler’s brilliant pass inside the full-back releases Martin down the left wing and his cross is headed wide by Pope. To be fair, United’s centre forward had to check his run slightly which put him off balance. Dawes is proving to be a thorn in the visitor’s side. He superbly controls a ball dropping out of the sky before he turns and drives at the defence where he is upended, earning a caution for Sam McClelland. Hasler’s

freekick though hits the wall. Minutes later another freekick is struck sweetly by Dawes and literally whistles a foot over the bar. With ten minutes to half-time the game is yet to be set alight, let’s say it is smouldering. The ‘U’s are forcing the pace while Dunstable are biding their time, soaking up pressure and looking to hit United on the break. That may be their tactic or perhaps it’s the game plan they are being forced to adopt. Ollie Black, who has scored in consecutive games, goes on an unexpected barnstorming run. From inside his own half he travels 50 yards before unleashing a 25-yard shot, it’s on target but straight at Head who saves. That would have been some goal. A third in succession and the club may have had to erect a statue of United’s marauding left-back. The half ends in dramatic circumstances. A long ball bounces into the Dunstable area and the ball is there to be contested. Martin and Head come together, the goalkeeper catches the ball and if there’s contact it looks to be minimal. Head reacts like a hibernating bear being woken with a poke from a sharp stick, and red mist descends in the September sunshine. A hand on Martin’s throat, a fistful of shirt with pushing and shoving narrow the referee’s options when it comes to meting out punishment. Martin sees yellow while Head’s card is the colour of an early bath. There’s five minutes of shenanigans while Dunstable argue the decision and work out who is going to take over in goal. It appears they do not have a replacement goalkeeper on the bench and in the end the gloves are handed to their biggest substitute, Ryan Frater. Half-time: Hastings United 0 – 0 AFC Dunstable

United get us underway for the second-half. The visitors will be playing 45+ minutes with ten men so they’ll be hoping to keep it tight, defend for the lives and take the game to penalties. A ploy which goes awry after four minutes. Hasler’s pass into Chalmers’ feet allows him to twist and turn in the penalty area before he’s hauled down. The referee immediately points to the spot leaving Dunstable incensed. They surround the referee and his assistant and almost three minutes have passed before Pope puts the ball on the spot then scores in the bottom corner. The ‘U’s in front. There’s a brief lull while United enjoy the lead and Dunstable get themselves under control. Dawes is still proving to be a handful, he has a shot blocked and then a header saved as United look for a second. Which arrives via a stunning 50-yard ping from Stone toward Kenny Pogue. The defender does well to stretch but his header back toward Fraser isn’t quite strong enough. Pogue is able to challenge and the ball falls to Pope who sweeps home from 10 yards.

rising drive over the bar. Credit to Dunstable, they have kept plugging away even though it hasn’t been their day, and they no doubt feel aggrieved by some of the decisions which have gone against them. Even so, when the final whistle blows Louis Rogers in United’s goal hasn’t had to make a save. United have won six on the bounce and scored at least three goals in each of the last five games. Form they will hope to take into Tuesday nights much anticipated league game against Ashford United. Full-time: Hastings United 3 – 0 AFC Dunstable

Hastings Utd : Rogers, Black, Elphick (75’ Penn), Stone, Chalmers, Dawes (66’ Bates), Dixon, Pope, Hasler, Goldsmith, Martin (67’ Pogue) United goals: Pope 52’ Pen, 68’, Hasler 70’ AFC Dunstable : Head, Collins, Okito, McClelland, Ferrell, Carney, Campbell (45’ Frater), Ann (71’ Hamilton), Christie, Farrell (73’ Lauder), Harvey Man of the match: Ben Pope for his two goals and (as always) a tireless display leading the line. His presentation on P17.

Ben Pope struck his second goal of the match on 68 minutes.

Two minutes later and the game is out of sight. United break with pace from their penalty area through Jack Bates who frees Hasler on the right. He has one thing on his mind, cuts inside onto his left foot and slams a strike into the bottom corner from 18 yards. Stunning goal from a man in form. The final period is attack versus defence. Fraser makes a good full length save from Bates and though Pope looks favourite to seal a hattrick following up, he’s on the stretch and pokes wide. Chalmers almost caps his own terrific performance with a 60-yard jaunt through the heart of the pitch, à la Ollie Black! Chalmers gliding over the turf like a thoroughbred before thumping a

Gut Feeling Simon Stoddart My waffle and opinions, I don't speak for Hastings United. Personal observations on the world of semi-pro football and sport in general.

WHAT? Away again? The luck of the draw sees the U's on the road for the 5th time in this season's FA Cup. It all inevitably gets tougher as the run builds up momentum and we now face opposition 3 steps higher at Maidenhead United who do their thing in the top tier of the National League. Knock out football as opposed to the league. Widely accepted the two are frequently very different. Play offs, Ryman South division – summed up some years ago – Bognor finished 31 points above Leatherhead, 96 points to 65. Huge difference. Leatherhead went to Nyewood Lane for their semi-final and beat Bognor 3-1. The FA Cup is renowned for upsets, Saturday's great win at Chippenham was an upset. Looked at the Ben Pope dismissal time and again and just cannot see how that warranted a straight red. Nothing will rival the eight men heroics at Leiston three seasons ago, but the ten hung on for a memorable win last Saturday.

I’m sure they have Diesel here ...

Nothing whatsover to do with football, but check it out!

DEROGATORY Hmmmm. This “Qualifying” tag the FA sticks on the initial rounds of the FA Cup. Why? Surely the qualifying is when you are accepted into the competition before the season starts? That's when you qualify. United, along with AFC Sudbury and Chertsey, have battled their way through 4 ties each and are now one win away from the 1st round proper as it used to be called. To describe the competition that way almost belittles the efforts of those clubs that get to the stage where EFL clubs come in. So why not reflect a club's great achievements to get through to a 5th FA Cup tie appropriately by having Round 1 in August – not this nonsensical extra preliminary round. We are away to Maidenhead United next weekend in the SIXTH Round of the FA Cup! Having ranted and raved about this, yes, yes, the 1st Round of the FA Cup is that hallowed territory where EFL clubs come in and we all know the significance of the 3rd Round. It's all very traditional, but things do change and we've certainly seen that with the FA Cup in the last 20 years or so. Incidentally, AFC Sudbury are at home to Dartford next weekend and Chertsey travel to Southend.

A certain Sam Hasler helped to ruin my evening and all being well, he'll put that one right today. We didn't play Ashford last season, all 7 games of it. And, er, we didn't play them on Tuesday either. I have mixed feelings on that. If the league hadn't given clubs the option to postpone, then the game would surely have gone ahead? Re the fuel situation, yes it's been difficult for many of us, but most of us have got round it and our players who have to do the miles to get here for home games were all presumably going to be here? But on the other hand, we need our cars to get to work, blah, blah – you can argue the toss on this one for ever.

COVID REGS HERE, COVID REGS THERE ... Spot the ball is easy enough but who's that behind it? Popey knocks one in at Harefield.

FA TROPHY Fairly straightforward win at home to AFC Dunstable a fortnight ago, United always the better side but once the Dunstable keeper was red carded there was only going to be one result. Couldn't for the life of me understand why the keeper reacted the way he did to what looked a pretty innocuous challenge from Dave Martin. And having said that, how either “offence” warranted red and yellow cards was beyond me. But 3-0 it was and an excellent 823 attendance. So, Ashford United are here this afternoon with a decent sequence of results in this fixture recently, three wins and a draw in the last four meetings. The games here have attracted excellent attendances of 909, 1123 and 1189 so it will be interesting to see how many we get today. The game that sticks out for me is the 2018-19 play off semi final which Ashford won 3-2 with a 119th minute penalty. That after we had led twice, just as we had done in the league game a few days earlier.I was in my favourite watering hole in Angeles City far far away in the Philippines following the league game here the season after.

Our old SE division sparring partners, Guernsey are now in the Isthmian South Central Division but have yet to play a game. The league has given them dispensation to get going next month. It's all down to Covid restrictions. Meanwhile in Jersey, just round the corner, another Channel Island – step 5 Jersey Bulls are able to play home games and very respectable gates they get too. A recent FA Cup tie at home to step 4 VCD Athletic of our division saw 1126 through the turnstiles with The Bulls hammering VCD 5-1. And a tremendous attendance last Sunday, 1611 in to see them exit the FA Cup at the hands of Isthmian Central, Chertsey Town. 1-0 the score. All a bit weird eh? Guernsey haven't kicked a ball in anger yet while Jersey Bulls are doing exactly the opposite with unrestricted attendances. This Covid business has created a whole new level of bureaucracy eh!

KP I was well chuffed when Kenny Pogue came back to The Pilot Field. He has been a real team man throughout and would surely get starting slots at plenty of other places. He will presumably get starts following Ben's red card at Chippenham? Whatever, what a superb goal to win that game at Hardenhuish Park! An outstanding finish. I had to follow the game from work and was there the next day showing one and all his goal when it appeared on Twitter. Nice one, KP.

AB1 GOLDEN GLOVES AWARDS - SEPTEMBER 2021 Winner: Sam Mott The highlight of VCD Athletic’s September was undoubtedly their five-nil win over Sevenoaks Town, but given they went through the entire month in the Pitching In Isthmian South East Division without defeat, that could be a highlight in itself! We suspect that during his illustrious career Sam Mott has won rather a lot of these awards, but he’s got another to come- congrats to Sam and his defence. Sam has previously played between the sticks and captained today’s visitors Ashford United as well as playing previously for Ebbsfleet United, Thamesmead Town, Welling United and AFC Hornchurch where he made over 200 appearances and set a new club clean sheet record. He also represented England C.

ASHFORD UNITED PLAYER PORTRAITS

VISITORS HISTORY

Initially their home ground was at the back of the Victoria Hotel. About 700 people yielding gate receipts of £5 were present for United’s first match on 19 September 1891, a defeat to Highland Light Infantry 1–5. The club were founder members of the Kent Premier League in 1894–95 with a reserve side playing in Kent League 2. The club relocated to an enclosed ground with a timber built stand at Godinton Road where the 1899 KCFA Cup Final was staged. Team colours at the time were black and white striped shirts. The team appeared in the Kent Cup Final for two successive years, 1902 and 1903 but were unsuccessful on both occasions: losing a replay 1–4 to Sittingbourne (a last minute penalty equaliser against Ashford causing the replay) and to Maidstone respectively. In 1907 owing to a lack of support at their Godinton Road ground (which being beyond the railway bridge was a fair distance from the town and their previous base in the Newtown area), the club suffering from heavy debts was unable to fulfill its fixtures and ceased playing mid-season. Shortly afterwards however a new club was formed, playing as the Ashford Railway Works. The club’s home ground was relocated back to Newtown on land believed to have been provided rent-free by the South Eastern & Chatham Railway. Playing in the Eastern Section of the Kent League and wearing red and green quartered colours, the team enjoyed considerable success winning the League in four successive seasons, 1912, 1913, 1914 & 1920 (The latter after the break caused by the Great War). The club became more commonly known as ‘Ashford’ upon the post-war resumption of the Kent League competition. However once more fate took a hand and in 1928 the club folded leaving the Town with no senior club. The decision to found Ashford Town was taken at a meeting in April 1930 chaired by Sir Charles Iggledon, who was the editor of the Kentish Express. Ashford Town were elected to the Kent League, and played their first match on August 30 of the same year at the railway works ground with Canterbury Waverley the visitors. The result was a 4–2 victory. The following year, the club moved to Essella Park. It was the sale of this ground in the mid 1980’s that enabled the purchase and development of the present ground at The Homelands, named after the farm that originally occupied the site, 4 miles south of the town centre and with easy access to the M20.

Despite being Champions of the Kent League in the 194849 season, it was cup football that was to provide the greatest success. Town reached the first round proper of the FA Cup as a Kent League side in 1959-59, losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace in front of a ground record crowd of 6,525. In the 1960’s, Town reached the first round of the FA Cup on 4 occasions, falling to league opposition each time. Further honours arrived with success in the Kent Senior Cup in 1959 and 1963. In 1972-73, Town reached the semi finals of the FA Trophy, losing to Scarborough by a penalty goal. The following year they finished third in the League when Alan Morton set the club scoring record of 46 goals from 69 games. The club earned promotion to the Premier Division of the Southern League in the 1986-87 season, at a time when the new ground at The Homelands was being constructed. The final game played at Essella Park was a draw with Dorchester, which ensured that both teams were promoted. The next season saw ground sharing at Folkestone whilst the new Homelands ground was being constructed. Sadly, the first season at The Homelands ended in disappointment when the club was relegated. During the 1990’s, manager Neil Cugley produced an entertaining and successful side which gained promotion back to the Premier Division in 1995-96 and, as a highlight, drew a first round FA Cup match with Fulham captained by Micky Adams. A capacity crowd of 3,300 packed into The Homelands and Sky TV showed highlights of the game. The result was a creditable 2-2 draw, with a replay at Craven Cottage. Again they impressed their league host and took the game into extra time, eventually losing 5-3. The following year, Ashford defeated Dagenham & Redbridge in the first round and then drew Watford away in the second round, losing 5-0. The season ended poorly with a finishing position of 18th, with the club only saved from relegation by the resignation of Sudbury.

Several managers then came and went, with varying degrees of success until Don Crosbie and Tony Betteridge took over as owners. Their first appointment as manager was Clive Walker, who was replaced during the season by Steve Lovell. Following a major falling out at Boardroom level, the club’s future was in the balance in the 2009-10 season. This resulted in several players departing, and manager Steve Lovell was just able to put together a side to keep the club from relegation. This valiant effort was to be in vain, since the Boardroom conflict had reached the courts with Tony Betteridge forcing the winding up of Ashford Town FC. Tony Betteridge succeeded in purchasing the club assets from the Administrator despite enormous protests from Chairman Don Crosbie who managed to receive assurances in the court for Football at the highest possible level to be maintained at least till the legal battle

was settled through the courts. Under the new name of Ashford United, the club continued with a Board comprising of local football enthusiasts. In 2013, Following the lengthy legal battle, Tony Betteridge conceded and formally announced that he would no longer be involved with the Club, handing ownership over to ATFC Supporters & Members Club Ltd on the 1st November 2013. To streamline, the company then became Ashford United FC Ltd who own all freehold that is The Homelands which includes Homelands Stadium and Ashford United FC. The club began the 2016-17 season with the legal dispute from the previous campaign unresolved. Against this backdrop the returning player coach Danny Lye put together a strong squad with many players returning from the previous campaign and with several strong additions – although the club asked the supporters to contribute towards the playing budget. Off-pitch matters continued to feature: December brought news that, despite being in top spot in the league table, the club had not registered with the FA for acceptance for promotion. The club stated their application had not been received by the FA and in light of this mitigating circumstance the club appealed and in mid-February the FA accepted the application. Whilst this played-out news came that the teams’ league organisation had deemed the 3G pitch at the Homelands as unsuitable for matches and the owners Minotuar stating £220,000 remedial work would be required. They however gained a temporary dispensation from the FA against the league decision which allowed matches to continue to be played on the pitch. Mid-March brought an announcement that the legal dispute between the club and ground owners had been settled and ownership of the Homelands had been transferred back to the football club. Subsequently, the pitch and facilities passed ground grading requirements. Amongst all this a new Director, Derek Pestridge, was appointed and a legal charge over the ground was established in his favour against an interest-free £500,000 loan made to the club. On the pitch the team challenged all season at the top of the SCEFL Premier Division. In a pivotal match at the Homelands at the start of April they defeated their closest rivals in the table Crowborough Athletic. It was the only defeat the Crows suffered all season on their travels and although they had established a one-nil lead, a hattrick from Rory Hill saw the Nuts and Bolts triumph. It put the clubs level on points but crucially Ashford had a superior goal difference and victories in the remaining five matches of the campaign meant they clinched the SCEFL Premier League title and promotion to Division One South of the Isthmian League. It was a season of records: most league wins (30 out of 38 games); most league points (92); highest Homelands league attendance for Ashford United of 807; and in scoring 119

goals, the club record of 115 scored by Ashford Town in the Kent League of 1931-32 was eclipsed. There was also success in the Kent Senior Trophy where after twice in previous years being runners-up United lifted the trophy with a 2-1 win (both goals from Shaun Welford) over Cray Valley PM on neutral turf at Maidstone. There was too a personal record for Shaun Welford (who with a hattrick in the season’s last match) notched 48 goals in all matches (with 37 and the Golden Boot in league matches) beating Start Zanone’s record of 47 from two seasons previously. With the legal/stadium disputes settled and promotion achieved the close of the 2016-17 season saw the team return to where their forerunners Ashford Town had been when they ceased existence 7 years previously. Ashford returned to the Isthmian League for the 201718. Any thoughts of a successful season were quickly extinguished with defeats in the first two games which led to the club parting company with manager Danny Lye and subsequent departure of experienced players. Youth team coach Jason Whitmore was appointed manager but having to rebuild the squad – and in the interim fielding inexperienced youth team players – led to a continued run of poor results including an autumn run of 12 league matches without a win (10 losses; 2 draws). During January the club appointed experienced former manager of Greenwich Borough Gary Alexander as Whitmore’s assistant with a plan for the former to take over as manager the following season. There was a significant turnover of players with 78 players donning the clubs jersey over the season; the highest appearance by any player was 32 (Jonathan Difford and Pat Kingwell); 31 players played in 3 or fewer matches; there were 21 goalscorers with Max Watters topping the list with 8 (from 27 appearances). The previous season had been one of positive records this one featured negatives: in conceding a record 111 goals over the league campaign it was the first time that in excess of over 100 had been conceded by either Town or United; the goal difference of negative 51 was similarly an unwanted record; the 28 league losses was the worst since the record 29 in the 1997-98 campaign; the Nuts and Bolts 9-1 defeat at Cray Wanderers was the record league-wide scoring/winning margin match of the season. The team finished 21st from 24 clubs in the league and thus maintained their league status. The 2018/2019 season started slowly and saw manager Gary Alexander, along with coaches Huseyin Torgut and John Mackie relieved of their duties in October 2018. Ex Nuts & Bolts player and Thamesmead Town manager Tommy Warrilow took over at the helm and lead us to our first ever play-offs. After beating Hastings United 3-2 in the semi-final, we were defeated by Horsham in the final but it was an excellent season for the Nuts & Bolts.

MCMAHON IS THE NEW CHIEF OYSTERBOY

OMPREON BECOMES A MILLER

Whitstable Town this week announced that their new manager is Keith McMahon. Keith replaces Lloyd Blackman, who stepped away almost two weeks ago. Keith spent five years - from May 2015 to June 2020 - in charge at VCD Athletic, where he had replaced the now Lewes boss Tony Russell after his departure to manage Cray Wanderers. Athletic ended the incomplete 2019-20 season in sixth place in the Pitching In Isthmian South East Division. Prior to his time at Oakwood he managed Thamesmead Town, and indeed was a big part of the club for eleven years, steering them to promotion from the Kent League and then to another promotion to our Premier Division, his side winning a famous penalty shootout over Maldon & Tiptree in the 2012-13 North Division Play-off Final. The Oysterboys haven't had the best of starts to the campaign and are still looking for their first League victory. Keith's first match in charge couldn't be more difficult, as they travel to face title favourites Hastings United on Tuesday evening.

Leatherhead man David signs for the Millers. Cray Valley PM have signed former Leatherhead man David Ompreon, who was announced as departing from the Tanners recently. Defender David came through the Academy at AFC Wimbledon after being a schoolboy at Fulham. He made four appearances for the Tanners during the 2020-21 season, generally from the bench, and has followed that with three more this season, generally in the number three shirt. His last appearance as a Tanner was in the four-nil defeat to Worthing on September 14th. He previously played for Cheshunt, Sutton United, Whyteleafe and Sutton Common Rovers.

HEATH SIGN MIDFIELDER Haywards Heath Town recently confirmed that they had signed midfielder Jordi Ndozid from just down the road, as he arrived from Burgess Hill Town. Jordi has been a Hillian since the start of 2020, making eleven appearances after moving over from Met Police. He then made another ten last season, and six more so far this, his last coming in FA Cup defeat against Dorking Wanderer. Heath Manager Shaun Saunders commented: "He's a player we've admired for a while now and I'm really pleased we got him on board."

GRANT FOR FAVERSHAM ONE STEP FROM THE PROMISED LAND!

Faversham Town sign Dean Grant from Herne Bay.

Herne Bay have announced that striker Dean Grant has left the club to return to former club Faversham Town. Dean has made one hundred and four appearances in two spells with Bay, including five this season. He has also played for the Lilywhites and Whitsbtable Town, Margate, Hythe Town, Sheppey United and Canterbury City, amongst others. He may make his latest Faversham debut against another of his former sides, Hythe Town, on Tuesday night.

The draw for the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup has been made. We've got eight representatives - and the Curfews are off to Southend United! Here's what we've got to look forward to. One more win and a collection of Pitching In Isthmian League sides will get the chance to face the big boys in the First Round of the FA Cup. But first they've got to get that win - and the medium-sized boys of the National League Premier are now in the competition, too! The draw was made on Talksport 2, and below is what occurred for Isthmian League clubs ... Southend United v Chertsey Town (Step 1) (IL1SC Step 4) Bowers & Pitsea v Aldershot Town (ILP Step 3) (Step 1) Bedfont Sports v Kidderminster Harriers (IL1SC Step 4) (Step 2)

PERFORMANCE OF THE MONTH AWARDS Pitching In Isthmian South East Division Whitehawk haven’t had the best of starts in the League, but they have been superb in the cup. They travelled to take on National League South side Slough Town, and after falling behind on five minutes the odds were against them, but they turned the match on its head, Henry Muggeridge, Javaun Splatt and James Fraser scoring to earn a well-deserved three-one win. A shiny trophy will be winging its way to the Hawks shortly.

AFC Sudbury v Dartford (IL1N Step 4) (Step 2) Maidenhead United v Hastings United (Step 1) (IL1SE Step 4) Corinthian-Casuals v St Albans City (ILP Step 3) (Step 2) Eastleigh v Folkestone Invicta (Step 1) (ILP Step 3) Horsham v Woking (ILP Step 3) (Step 1) Matches to be played on or around Saturday October 16th. Winners pick up £9,375, losers £3,125
