WELCOME BACK ... HERE WE GO AGAIN! Another season has arrived and tonight we once again commence our aim of achieving the promotion that we have been close to over the last few seasons, but on each occasion, we have not quite been able to achieve our goal. As usual you our supporters will have a vital part to play in our season. Our average home gates continue to be larger than most other clubs in our division and we as a Club appreciate the support, as we know our players do on match days. Welcome back to all our volunteers including stewards, gate staff, 50/50 sellers Phil & Barbara Glazier, the retail shop staff, our refreshment outlet workers and Pilot Bar manager Sam Smith and her staff. We would also like to thank our programme editor Paul Hoggard and website manager Kirsty Thompson who do such good work for the Club. All these people are crucial to our operation as are you our supporters. Last but certainly not least we thank our main sponsor Burney Group and all our other sponsors and advertisers including Sherlock Consultancy, Macron Store Hastings, Littlewoods Fencing and East Sussex College Hastings for their continued support and commitment. Our thanks also go to club photographer Scott White and the supporters that helped Scott carry out numerous tasks of work around the Pilot Field during the close season. This is always a considerable task and the assistance given is much appreciated by the Club. After many years of sponsorship of The Isthmian League by Ryman we have seen two changes in league sponsor over a fairly brief period of time. Firstly, there was Bostik who’s sponsorship ended during the summer and now we have BetVictor who have taken the step to title sponsor The

Southern League, The Northern Premier League and The Isthmian League at FA Steps 3 & 4. We hope that the BetVictor sponsorship proves successful for BetVictor, The Isthmian League and its member clubs. We will again be plying our trade in the South East Division of what is now known as The BetVictor Isthmian League. There are 20 clubs in our division with our fixtures including matches against newly promoted clubs Cray Valley (PM), who we visited last Saturday, and Chichester City. The Alan Turvey League Cup has been revamped into initially a group format which sees us in a pool with East Grinstead Town, Burgess Hill Town, Chichester City, Three Bridges and Haywards Heath Town. Each team will play each other once. We are at home in the FA Cup first qualifying round against Broadbridge Heath this coming Saturday whilst in the FA Trophy we go to Hythe Town on Saturday 12th October. Tonight we welcome as our first league visitors Faversham Town FC. We hope their players, officials and supporters enjoy their short visit to the Pilot Field. We have had many close hard-fought encounters with Faversham Town over the last few years. Our pre-season games saw us achieve a varied set of results, but nothing to worry about here, as our manager Chris Agutter has very much mixed his team selections to see exactly what he has in terms of youth and experience and as to how players were suited in different positions and formations. Also, he has had player holidays to deal with along with several contract players being away on trial at various times with full time professional clubs. Chris has intimated he will continue his successful practice of getting experience into some of the Club’s young players by placing them out for particularly Saturday game time with various clubs. / ... continued on P07 05

The Development Squad will this season play in the newly branded Bluefin Sport Insurance Development League South with 7 other clubs. Home fixtures for United will be on a Monday night at the Pilot Field. The team will be managed by first team assistant manager Andrew Brown who will be assisted by James McCrossan who is learning his trade as a coach.
The U19 education scheme team will continue to operate under the banner of East Sussex College Hastings but this season in a colleges league. Home games will be at the Pilot Field usually on a Wednesday afternoon. Skiltek the Club’s coaching partner will continue to manage and oversee the Club’s very well rated football academy.
The Club this season has joined the newly rebranded U18 Sportswik Isthmian Youth League and will play in the South Division with 9 other clubs. Many of the Club’s promising academy players will play in the team whose home match night will be on a Thursday at the Pilot Field. The team will be managed by former United player and manager Sean Ray who will have Ben Cornelius as his assistant.
As regards the Club’s relocation this will happen. We are getting closer. Directly we have any news that is worthy of publication we will announce such on the Club’s website. Enjoy the season.

Hastings United Independent Supporters Club is an all new club based on the old supporters’ group, but working in a new way alongside Hastings United Football Club. It is also affiliated to the Football Supporters’ Association. The club has a committee of volunteers but needs supporters to come on board.
“We would like to run HUISC the new way of supporters’ clubs, we have to follow a blueprint, but with a new positivity.” The Supporters’ Club has come about following the positive atmosphere generated by Hastings’ third place finish in the Bostik League South East Division last season and with the support of manager Chris Agutter. For a fee of £10 per year, members will be entitled to discounts, including 10% off items in the club shop, 25% off coach travel to away games, exclusive drinks promotions in The Pilot Bar on matchdays, members only Social Media Group with exclusive news on Hastings United. CANNONS BRING IN A KEEPER Darts stopper signs permanently. Hythe Town announced the permanent signing of Dartford keeper Ryan Nicholls. Nicholls, who made half-a-dozen appearances for the Cannons last season on loan - and also turned out on loan in the North Division for Aveley - previously played for Hythe's South East rivals Hastings United. He joins Alex Brown, Luke Blewden, Ben Fitchett, Frannie Collin, Ryan Cooper and Sid Sollis as the latest in a collection of signings which look to make the Cannons real promotion contenders this season.
OAKS BRING IN RICHARDSON-BROWN Town bring a promotion-winner to Greatness Park Sevenoaks Town have announced the signing of Horsham wideman Tyrell Richardson-Brown. Tyrell joined the Hornets last summer after leaving promotion-winning Walton Casuals following their move to the Southern League, and last season went and did it all again, as he was a big part of the Horsham side who won the South East Division Play-offs - beating another of his former clubs, Ashford United.

It must be rather perplexing to be a Herne Bay supporter at the moment. As recently as March the club were describing themselves as being in a "critical financial position." Players were leaving, and the management team went too - the future looked rather bleak. Fast forward four months, however, and Altira Park looks an entirely different place. A new management team, a new structure, financial stability and a large set of eyecatching new signings must make Bay amongst the favourites for success in the forthcoming season - but if you're a fan you must be wearing an incredulous smile and wondering what the heck happened! Then came another transfer announcement that must have caused a sharp intake of breath around the rest of the BetVictor Isthmian League South East Division, as Bay secured the signature of former Hythe Town talisman Zak Ansah. After returning a record of almost a goal a game for the Cannons we all suspected he'd be moving to a higher level during the summer, but instead he has decided to take a twenty-five mile trip from one side of the Kent coast to the other (assuming he's using the A2 and not taking a more scenic route!).

GUT FEELING Simon Stoddart A light hearted – and on many occasions, anything but light hearted, look at life here in what is now known as the BetVictor Isthmian League's South Eastern Division. My rants and raves are not connected with the club in any way.
AND HERE WE GO AGAIN ......... Yes, indeed we do. The 2019-2020 season is upon us already. We've seen the summer flying along with all it's meteorological variations, a fantastic Cricket World Cup success, and it seems only yesterday we were shaking our heads at the crushing disappointment of that late late penalty against Ashford in the play-off semi-final. I personally like a few weeks away from football – pre- season continues to do less than nothing for me, I find myself spending longer and longer time away in South East Asia - with one constant theme, three points at stake in every league game and United's ongoing efforts to get promotion.
CRAY VALLEY PM Shift work and the railway conspired once again to keep me away from the opening game of the new season. Footballwebpages and Twitter kept me up-to-date with the 0-0 draw at newly promoted Cray Valley PM who's last competitive game of 18-19 was at Wembley in the FA Vase Final where they went down to Chertsey Town. Obviously we all want to kick off with a win blah blah blah – but let's see where we are once the early season of FA Cup distractions etc is out the way. 0-0 away from home is never a particularly bad start. Indeed it was the only goal devoid game in the division.
NEW LEAGUE SPONSORS So, it's now the BetVictor League, indeed it's BetVictor steps three and four. The name is everywhere. And all a bit controversial what with the well known problems for some with gambling. Mixed feelings for me – I think I see all points of view. But it is now what it is, so hopefully semi pro football at steps three and four will overall benefit from this latest sponsorship. What was the first one all those years ago? The Beazer Homes Southern League .........
PREDICTIONS Well, well – who will feature this season? Obviously we all want to be right in the mix and the ultimate aim for us, Ashford, Hythe and Haywards Heath plus the inevitable dark horse team will be to get the automatic promotion place and avoid the blood pressure destroying

tension of getting into and then taking part in the play- offs. Burgess Hill and Whitehawk are with us again and you have to assume they will want their Premier places back. Burgess Hill certainly made an impact on Saturday on our local rivals, Hythe Town, who now have three ex-United men in their ranks – Messrs Nicholls, Rowe and Collin. 7-2 to The Hillians who go straight to the head of the table at this early, early stage.
ER – WELCOME BACK CHRIS Bumped into the boss outside B&Q one afternoon in early August – as you do. And I was more than happy to tell him how good it was to know the close season difficulties had been rectified. The team project is a long term one and Chris Agutter is the most vital part of it all if he is to emulate Peter Sillett and George Wakeling. Players have moved on, hopefully not too many more changes will be happening as the job continues. Chris needs to be at the helm. Well done to Jamie Fielding who has featured in the first team at Stevenage already, Bostik SE to EFL 2 in one hit is pretty good eh? All the more so given he wasn't a first team regular here this time last season. Beady eyes are being kept on Adam Lovatt and Davide Rodari from on high and while we all want them to go onto better things, we don't want to lose them either. Losing Simon Johnson and Sam Cruttwell in consecutive seasons is hugely disappointing. And it beggars belief that two such talented players are playing County League now. In my ideal world, I'd have em both back in a shot. And you just never know – players have a habit of going back to their old clubs. Not only football that has it's incomprehensible ways. Check this out for world rankings for Rugby Union. Don't pretend you understand it!
WOULDN'T HAVE GONE UP ANYWAY ... All that can be said about last season's play-off disappointment and the FA instigated points per game play off disgrace that sees Brighouse and Heybridge Swifts still playing step 4 football despite winning their respective play-offs – is that at least the Bostik SE play offs were settled on the pitch with Horsham deservedly going up with Cray Wanderers. They finished second which should always be the only deciding factor about who goes up with the champions – play-offs are a gimmick (we'll be seeing them deciding relegation issues this season – that was inevitable) and last season, even that flawed side of football was interfered with by the FA as Brighouse and Heybridge found to their cost. Haywards Heath played their semi-final at Horsham knowing they couldn't go up and even if we'd beaten Ashford, gone to Lancing and beaten Horsham in the final – we wouldn't have gone up either because our points per game tally wasn't high enough. The whole play-off business at steps 3 and 4 last season was an utter shambles. Brighouse (Northern League North West) and Heybridge Swifts (BetVictor North) won their finals and had to wait a day or two for other leagues to complete their play-offs before finding out if they were going up or not. All the play-offs should've been on the same days. Imagine it – you win on Saturday afternoon and have to wait till late Monday evening to find out if you're promoted or not. Absolutely appalling. Are there really people within the FA and the league administrations who are happy with such a disjointed way to finish a season when the biggest prize of all is at stake?
relegated three clubs each – six in total down to four divisions at step 3. Just like the step 4 promotion miasma, the maths didn't add up. The four title winners all went up leaving two promotion places to be divided amongst the play-off winners who then had to play two games between them – those daftly titled Super PlayOffs which eventually saw Warrington and Met Police miss out - like Brighouse and Heybridge. Could so easily have been avoided. Relegate four from National South and North to the four divisions below who would promote champions and play off winners = eight down, eight up. Which is what it will be at the end of this season. Great consolation that is to Warrington and Met Police, eh! It's only Non League! At least the play-offs in our division ended up being decided fair and square – where they should always be decided – on the pitch.
FAVERSHAM TOWN Our home campaign starts this evening against Faversham who are probably still kicking themselves at seeing a 3-1 lead over Guernsey on Saturday afternoon end up a 3-3 draw. Be interesting to see how Guernsey go this time round as Ross Allen - who used to score goals for fun - is back in the Channel Islanders ranks.
We played Ashford on Monday evening after playing at Greenwich Borough on the Saturday, while other leagues weren't holding their play-offs till the Wednesday – 48 hours more preparation time for just about their biggest games of the season. Absolutely appalling again. Said it last season and say it again – you can so easily envisage the FA pointed hats muttering amongst themselves - “It's only non league” as the end of last season unfolded. And the points per game infected, win yer play-offs but no promotion formula devised by those pointed hats has actually been seen for what it is – belatedly. It won't be inflicted on step 4 this season – champions and all play off winners from the step 4 leagues will go up at the end of this season. Which begs the question, why inflict all that disappointment on Brighouse and Heybridge Swifts last time around. The same applies to Warrington Town and Metropolitan Police who won their respective league play off finals last season – only to have to play “Super Play-Off” finals against Kings Lynn and Tonbridge respectively to decide who who would accompany the champions up to National South and North. The National leagues

New ground, promotion have possibly played a part in his nauseating conversion (We, Us, Our) back to the cause which includes constant reminders United are in a lower division ...... "To be fair, he is a dedicated Chelsea follower, home and away, though I say that through gritted teeth."

FAVERSHAM TOWN HISTORY The club was formed in 1884 and experienced many ups & downs during the early years. The story below takes you from the 1970’s to one of its most successful periods, which arguably has been the last 5 or 6 years. After a brief flirtation with the Athenian League in the mid seventies, the club returned to the Kent League, winning the Kent Senior Trophy in 1977. The following season they repeated this success and were also crowned Kent League champions, completing a famous "double". The Lilywhites won the Kent League again in 1990, but league form dipped in the 92/93 season and was to stay that way for several seasons. The club managed to reach the final of the Kent League Challenge Cup in 2000, but things were in rapid decline. Matters reached crisis point in 2003 when the KCFA suspended the club for nonpayment of fines, with the club's operators blaming just about everyone for the mess except themselves. In the following months, the once proud Salters Lane ground was systematically wrecked by vandals. Meanwhile, club trustees led by businessman Ray Leader fought a desperate battle to heal a widening rift with the previous regime over the ownership of the club and ground. In a separate development, the Faversham Town Independent Supporters Club had been formed and quickly gained a membership of over 300 paid-up members in the market town. This was despite the fact the club had no team, no manager, and a ground that had been totally wrecked by vandals and now resembled a bomb site. Perhaps the real turning point came when trustees and Independent Supporters Club committee members got together and declared an alliance to get the club back on its feet. An interim club committee was formed, and the long road to recovery was started.

The revival was slow, but things finally started to happen. The ownership dispute was settled and access to the ground obtained. Volunteer workers were confronted with completely smashed and vandalized buildings, and shoulder-height grass on what had been the pitch. A massive clear up operation began, but it was back breaking work. Meanwhile, paperwork was put in order with a new club constitution written and agreed. Kent County FA allowed the club to retain their coveted senior status subject to several conditions. Local authority grants were applied for and secured, sponsorship deals obtained, and the club embarked on a range of fund raising initiatives. Slowly but surely, Salters Lane was returned to its former glory, before the future became even brighter with the erection of brand new floodlights. The revival of club and ground from the jaws of death was nothing short of a miracle - a story that would surely rival the efforts to revive both "The Valley" at Charlton, and Accrington Stanley F.C. The revived club played their first season back in 05/06, competing in the Kent County League and finishing as runners-up. Having passed ground inspections and fulfilled minimum criteria, promotion to the Kent League was confirmed, and Faversham Town had at last "come home". Season 2007/08 saw the arrival of Justin Luchford and Jimmy Strouts taking over the management with Town second bottom of the league. The team sunk to bottom before the pair gradually steered them up to mid-table. Strouts soon left for personal reasons and Luchford, along with Clive Walker, took the Lilywhites to the Kent Senior Trophy final in season 2009/10, beating Greenwich 2-1 to lift the trophy. A week later, they were crowned Kent League Premier Division champions. Towards the end of his first season in the Ryman League, and with Town within touching distance of the play-offs, Luchford resigned. His place was taken by his assistant Ray Turner. Turner took charge of the last seven league games securing eighth spot - the highest position of any Kent team competing at that level.
Another significant milestone was reached in 2010 when the revamped stadium was renamed Shepherd Neame Stadium after a sponsorship deal with the town's famous brewery. Having consolidated their position as a mid-table Ryman South side during the first two years of Turner's reign, Faversham embarked on one of the best seasons in the club's history during the 2012/13 season. The Lilywhites lost just three away league games all campaign on their way to finish third and reach the Ryman South play-off final against all odds. However, at Maidstone United's newlybuilt Gallagher Stadium in front of a 2,226 strong-crowd, Town were unable to pull off one final upset against a side with huge investment and backing. Maidstone cruising to a 3-0 victory to deny Faversham their first taste of Ryman Premier League football. Town spent the majority of the 2013/14 campaign just outside the play-offs, and ultimately had to settle for tenth position in their fourth season in the Ryman South. Off the pitch, Town continued to grow with another significant advance. They came together with nearby Faversham Town Youth & Juniors to form a new youth section, meaning boys were now playing in the famous white and black kit from the age of five. The move also created a route through from youth development into the senior side and enabled the newly-expanded club to achieve FA Charter Standard Community Club rank, marking their rise in status. The Lilywhites took another step forward in February 2014 with the announcement of an ambitious project to redevelop Shepherd Neame Stadium. The plans - broken down into five phases include rebuilding the changing rooms, adding hospitality an function rooms, extra seating in the stands and a new stadium entrance. A coffee shop and retail store will then be added, with meeting rooms and offices also being built to bring in additional revenue. A new 120-seater stand, fitness centre and sports hall will also be built. Fundraising for the project then began. Faversham had a productive 2014/15 season, scoring 111 league goals - more than any other Ryman League side that campaign - and amassing a record 97 points to finish in third
place in the Ryman South for the second time in three seasons. But the club suffered more playoff heartache, as they lost 5-4 on penalties at home to Merstham in their Ryman South Playoff Semi-Final following a goalless draw away. Faversham came fifth at the end of the 2015-16 season, again reaching the play-offs, but after beating Dorking Wanderers 2-1 in the semi-final they lost 3-0 to Worthing in the final, leaving them knocking once more on the door of the Ryman Premier Division. The 2016/17 season was one of transition for the Lilywhites on the pitch, and success off it as they forged ahead with Phase One their ambitious rebuilding programme. A tenth place finish was achieved with a young squad as manager Ray Turner dealt with a number of unexpected player departures, which led to a mid-season wobble. However, in May 2017 MP Helen Whately opened the new changing rooms as the first stage of the stadium redevelopment was finally completed. Another significant advance came when, for the first time, the club were able to field Kent Youth League standard squads at every age group from Under 13s upwards in the 2017/18 campaign, a mark of their growing stature in the region and of their commitment to a successful youth policy. In a further development, the Under 21s also switched to become an Under 23 Development team with the aim of helping young players bridge the gap from the Under 18s to the first team. The progress marked the fruition of a vision set out five years earlier by Ray Turner and Head of Youth, Chris Greenfield, who was promoted to Under 23s Manager. In 2018/19, a disappointing start to the season led to Ray Turner stepping aside. Phil Miles and Dan Chapman were appointed as joint managers in his place. The lacklustre season continued, and in the end the team finished 17th, two places and ten points clear of relegation. Towards the end of the season, Paul Gates and Keith Chilvers were appointed joint managers of the renewed Under 23s squad, and senior players were let go in favour of rebuilding the team with a greater emphasis on promoting youth into the first team.

GREEN LIONS READY TO ROAR! Guernsey celebrate the return of their star striker.
NUTS AND BOLTS SIGN SEMI-FINAL OPPONENT Hastings man heads to Ashford Ashford United fans last saw Hassan Ibrahiym when he took the field against them in last season's South East Play-off Semi-Final at Hastings United, but they'll be seeing far more of him in the forthcoming campaign as he has been confirmed as a new arrival at Homelands. Ibrahiym made fourteen appearances for the Pilot Field side last season, scoring one goal - in defeat to Hythe Town - although he would undoubtedly have played much more often had he not been troubled by injury. The forward started the season with Kingstonian, making three appearances before his move to the Sussex coast, having previously played for the then-K's manager Leigh Dynan at Whyteleafe.
Guernsey FC have been punching above their weight for many years. A small island with an accordingly limited catchment area, the quality of football played by the Green Lions since they entered the English football pyramid has always been at odds with their playing resources. Last season, however, they came very, very close to relegation from the Isthmian South East Division, and as such were amongst the favourites for a relegation battle in the forthcoming season - but perhaps that changed when the club made an announcement that sent social media into overdrive. Ross Allen is back! With two hundred and thirty-nine goals in two hundred and twenty-six games, Allen is the club's record goalscorer, and the scourge of defences across Step Four and Five. He left the club in November 2017 to head to New Zealand, and returns as a Champions League winner, as his Team Wellington side won the Oceania Football Confederation Champions League. He kept up his exploits in front of goal on the other side of the world, too, scoring twenty six more. Whether he'll be able to match the 54 goals he scored in winning the Non-League Paper's National Game Golden Boot Award in 2014 remains to be seen, but he'll certainly frighten a few South East defences - and he might just persuade BetVictor to change their odds, too!

Cyril Jeans
TRIBUTE Cyril Jeans, ex-player, coach and manager of the former Hastings United, has died, aged 79. Well known around Sussex, Kent and Hampshire football circles, Cyril enjoyed a distinguished playing career. In 1958 he signed a professional contract with Portsmouth. He also played for Ramsgate, Margate, Gravesend & Northfleet, Sittingbourne, Canterbury and Deal. He joined the former Hastings United club in the 196869 season, becoming the club’s player-manager in the summer of 1969, a role he held until 1971. Cyril also had a long and successful period as player-manager of Sidley United, winning promotion before rejoining Hastings as boss, a spell that was short-lived.
Cyril was a tricky winger who possessed a powerful shot and scored some great goals before turning his talents to coaching and management.
He also successfully managed Little Common, getting them back into the County League. Sadly Cyril passed away in the Conquest Hospital, Hastings, earlier this month. His funeral will take place on Friday, August 23 at 3:15pm at Eastbourne Crematorium.

ON THIS DAY A look back at some of the matches played in past seasons on: Tuesday, 20th August.
1968 Leeds United took over top spot in Division One after winning 3-2 at mid-table Ipswich Town to go above Sheffield Wednesday who were held in a goal less draw at Nottingham Forest. Fourth placed Sunderland were also hampered by only managing a 2-2 draw with lowly Q.P.R. In the other two games played there were home wins for Burnley and Liverpool, the Clarets beating Southampton 3-1 while the Reds bettered Stoke City by the odd goal of three. In Division Two table topping Crystal Palace crashed 0-4 at Middlesbrough who replaced them as leaders. Sheffield United moved up to third with a 2-0 win over Derby County and Charlton Athletic stayed in contention with a 3-1 victory against Birmingham City whilst the night’s other two matches were both drawn.
We, then still Hastings & St. Leonards, did not start our fixtures in Division Two of the Sussex County League until the following Saturday.
1996 Three British clubs were involved in UEFA Cup first round, second leg ties: Aberdeen went down 1-3 to Lithuanian side Zalgiris Vilnius but progressed having won 4-1 away two weeks earlier. Celtic who had been in a goal less game away to Slovakian side F.C. Kosice and it looked as if their home game was going the same way until Jorge Cadete netted for them two minutes from time. At home Barry Town matched their 1-3 away defeat to BVSC Budapest and the tie had to be decided on penalties which the Welsh side won 4-2. In the F.A. Carling Premiership Sheffield Wednesday went top after winning 2-0 at Leeds United with goals from Andy Booth and Ritchie Humphreys. In Nationwide Division One a goal from Per Frandsen was enough for Bolton Wanderers to defeat Manchester City. In the Coca Cola League Cup there were first round, first leg ties where Barnet were top scorers who won 4-0 at Exeter City whilst nearby the highest aggregate was registered as Torquay United drew 3-3 with Bristol City. Brighton played their tie the following evening when they lost 0-1 at home to Birmingham City
We, then still Hastings Town, visited Salisbury City in the Premier Division Two of the Southern League where we lost 1-2 and even our goal was scored by a home defender.
2013 Having played through the qualifying competition Celtic travelled to Astana in Kazakhstan – the world’s largest land locked country – for the first leg of the play off round in the UEFA Champions League where early and late goals saw them go down 0-2 to Shakhter Karagandy. In the npower Championship relegated side Wigan Athletic were held 2-2 at home by Doncaster Rovers who had been two goals ahead by half time scored by Theo Robinson and Chris Brown. After the break Shaun Maloney pulled one just before the hour mark and Leon Barnett earned them a point with a last minute equaliser. There were no other games until level six, the regional divisions of the Football Conference: In the Southern Section Eastbourne Borough entertained Tonbridge Angels in a bad tempered match which saw the visitors go ahead after just six minutes when a free kick was deflected into the net. Borough eventually pulled one back through Elliot Levy with Simon Johnson netting a late winner. Whitehawk went down 0-4 at Bromley.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS vs FAVERSHAM TOWN Faversham Town’s location and chequered history have meant that the clubs have rarely met although we did visit Salters Lane for pre-season matches in 1989, 1990 and 1991: The first meeting on Tuesday, 1st August saw Faversham Town win 2-0, a year later on Tuesday, 31st July the sides played out a goalless draw then on Thursday, 1st August, 1991 when we won 2-0 both goals being penalties scored by Terry White. In season 1993/94 both sides competed in the Kent Midweek League where sides often fielded near first teams for matches; we won our home match 3-1 with goals from Peter Heritage, Paul Tuppenney and Danny Whyman, completing the double with a 1-0 away victory courtesy of a lone David Powell goal. In season 2012/13 we visited Faversham Town for a pre-season fixture on the evening of Tuesday, 31st July, 2012 when a small crowd of just 70 saw the home side run out 2-0 winners with goals from Luke Harvey, in the first half, and a sixty-sixth minute goal from former United player Antonio Gonnella. Season 2016/17, in addition to the Ryman League fixtures, we visited Faversham Town for a Ryman League Cup 2nd Round tie. On the evening of Tuesday, 8th November, 2016 the match resulted in a 1-1 draw upon the full-time whistle. Matt Bourne scoring for the hosts and Tristan Jarvis netting United’s goal. In front of a crowd of 101, the cup tie was decided by a penalty shoot-out. Faversham Town running out 6-5 winners. Our first Ryman Division One South meeting took place on Tuesday, 3rd November, 2015.
