Rich Digital Features, High Density, Fast Time to Market and High Reliability Offer Differentiation and Acceleration to Aggressive Board Designers

DALLAS — March 1, 2016 — As the demand for data, analysis and access mushrooms globally, so does the need for increased computational and processing capacity. To accommodate the components necessary to provide this desired capacity, circuit board designers must find ways to get the most out of their available, valuable board space. Helping to address this, GE’s Critical Power business (NYSE: GE) has launched its new Pico SlimLynxTM family of DCDC converters, enabling board designers and engineers to design in the negative space by providing digital onboard power where space, height and airflow are extremely limited. SlimLynx, the new, lowprofile, digital series from GE, enables engineers to use power modules in very tight spaces such as underneath boards, in mezzanine structures and in very dense power applications. The product family includes digital and analog solutions in 3, 6 and 12ampere (amp) offerings, with the 12amp version measuring just onethird the size of other industrystandard modules of the same power capacity. The thin, featurerich DCDC converters deliver 12amp power at a settable 0.455.5volt output from a DC input of between 314.4 volts, without the need for an external drive voltage. The units are able to achieve this power conversion capability in a spacesaving, DOSAstandard footprint of just 12by12by2.9 millimeters. “Imagine if your car battery and alternator were onethird of their size. That reduction in size would allow auto designers to use the extra space to pack in additional features under the hood to increase horsepower. This is essentially what the improved power density of our Pico SlimLynx does on a printed circuit board. We are enabling electronics designers to incorporate more computing, communication and control horsepower into their board architectures,” said Karim Wassef, general manager of the Embedded Power product line for GE’s Critical Power business. Today, many digital converters tend to be either bulky or offer minimal functionality. Others offer limited performance at high temperatures without airflow or are only available in nonstandard footprints. GE’s digital Pico SlimLynx converters provide the power conversion density and flexibility needed to address global challenges associated with the rapidly expanding computational hunger of board designers. Additional features of GE’s Pico SlimLynx modules include digital communication and control through PMBus, a standard digital interface and a compact, leadfree design. Adding even greater design flexibility, GE’s new product family also includes fully compatible analog options, enabling dropin replacement at a reduced cost.

Their low height and high power density enable the modules to be installed in ultraslim configurations in a broad array of applications — such as data center, wired and wireless telecom, networking, servers and storage, industrial, medical and military solutions. The Pico SlimLynx modules comply with IPC9592 power conversion standards, providing the reliability required for softwaredefined networks. Pricing for GE’s digital Pico SlimLynx modules begins at $4.08 for the 3amp unit, $5.82 for 6amp and $7.59 for the 12amp module. Pricing for analog modules begins at $3.06, $5.22 and $6.72 for the 3amp, 6amp, and 12amp modules (respectively). A Drawer Unlike Any Other: Grass Vionaro Comes to Häfele Archdale, North Carolina, USA, March 1, 2016 Clean. Sleek. Stylish. These are all adjectives one could use to describe the latest addition to the Häfele America Co. functional hardware offerings: the Grass Vionaro drawer system. Adding the Grass Vionaro to Häfele’s already robust line of drawer options makes ideal sense. In a way, it’s slim, minimalist box and doublewalled design is exactly the sort of thing customers have been clamoring for on account of its superior performance and clean, sleek look. “The look and the functionality of the Grass Vionaro fits perfectly with Häfele’s tradition of making the inside of a cabinet just as beautiful as the outside,” explains Karen Armour, product manager for Häfele America Co. “This is an elegant yet strong option for practically any kitchen, bathroom or other home storage application.” Mounted on Grass Dynapro rack and pinion slides, the Grass Vionaro has a maximum load capacity of 88 lbs. Available dimensions cover all of today’s popular sizes including 15”, 18” and 21” depths for drawer boxes up to 48” wide. The Grass Vionaro can be had in 3 ½” inch or 7 ¼” heights, making it a great option for regular and deepdepth base cabinet drawers. Stocking finishes include Graphite and Silver Grey. Taking function beyond the standard drawer box, the addition of aluminum fronts make the Grass Vionaro an excellent choice for internal pullouts too – whether it be to store fine china, kitchen appliances or even typical pantry staples.

Archdale, North Carolina, USA, February 22, 2016 The international Häfele Group for hardware technology and electronic access control systems ended 2015 with a satisfyingly positive result. The company group achieved revenue of 1.272 billion Euro (2014: 1.144 billion). This represents a growth of 11 % compared to the previous year. This meant the family business based in the Swabian town of Nagold continued on a path of remarkable growth despite the various crises ongoing around the world. With a rise of +16%, it is the 37 foreignbased subsidiaries that are to be accredited with this increase in sales. As announced by the company management, it is these international markets that apart from the odd exception have performed markedly well, with the broad growth also bolstered by foreign exchange rate developments outside of the Euro zone in 2015. Strong growth was especially apparent in the USA, Great Britain, India and Australia, so making a considerable contribution to the doubledigit rate of growth. Häfele is now generating 79% of its revenue abroad. This development is also reflected in the number of employees. It rose by 200 to 7,100 worldwide. For its part, the parent company in Germany performed well again following a weaker first six months to the year. This is due not least to the international IT conversion project. In the light of this, the 1% rise is a satisfactory result and the forecast for this year is for growth to return to about the 5% mark. The number of employees in Germany remains unchanged at 1,600. Growth through strength “Strong regional diversification is enabling us to share to a large degree in the growth outside of Europe”, is how the situation is summed up by Sibylle Thierer, Managing Director, who took over management of the familyowned company rich in tradition in 2004 and now represents the 3rd generation. “The last decade has been largely shaped by the tremendous dynamism exhibited by our Asian subsidiaries. The international knowhow and expertise we have gained from this, has allowed us to steer the whole Häfele organisation into the future, ensuring that we continue to remain profitable and so be able to grow under our own steam.” Häfele is represented in over 150 countries throughout the world and has independent sales subsidiaries in 37 countries. With 23 sales subsidiaries operating for 15 years or more, the philosophy of staying in close contact with customers, which Häfele has lived by for many decades, enables the company to produce a range of products and services which are all tailored to their customers’ needs. The products and services of the corporate group are used by the world’s leading furniture manufacturers, architects and planners, joiners/cabinet makers and dealers. This backdrop of superlative product and market expertise has been the setting in which global and local product ranges have been developed to meet the various requirements down through the years. These

Own house assortments for global success In recent years, Häfele has made considerable investments in the development of its own house assortments now used around the world. Apart from wellestablished ranges such as furniture connectors and fittings for sliding doors and furniture flaps, there are also the highly popular Dialock electronic access control systems for project business. These systems are used to open doors in global hotel chains as well as in small familyoperated hotels, and we should not forget our Loox LED lighting, which is used in many kitchens and furniture pieces. Both of these highly soughtafter ranges are contributing to provide more convenience and luxury in buildings and furniture the world over. These own house assortments represent Häfele’s dynamic innovative capability. “Our claim is ‘Thinking ahead’, which means that we must already be thinking about what our customers will need in future, today”, says Sibylle Thierer, explaining the family enterprise’s motto. This is likewise reflected in how Häfele has engaged with the current megatrend that is urbanisation, thanks to which Häfele has developed itself into something of a pacesetter in recent years. And so today guided by the motto “More life per square metre” the company is creating sophisticated hardware fittings for multifunctional furniture with innovative designs and the optimised use of space, making smallscale living and working equally attractive in both the residential and commercial settings. Hardware fittings with rediscovered importance In view of this situation, Sibylle Thierer thinks the corporate group could not be better steeled for challenges both current and future, and she sums it up so: “The importance of hardware fittings has increased in recent years, especially in the kitchen context. Whereas hinged doors were seemingly ubiquitous just a few years ago, today the look is dominated by drawers with soft closing systems for base units and userfriendly furniture flaps for wall units. And then there’s the Italian sliding kitchen door trend that has now emerged in Germany. Our mission is to make this increasingly complex technology as easy and as userfriendly as possible to those who install these products and to those who buy them. We have identified good opportunities for Häfele to make even more progress.” Global networking and current challenges Our global network has a crucial role in the future viability of the business. Over the past year, Häfele has invested 30 million Euros in markets, logistics and production with the aim of interlinking the various markets, so as to offer our increasingly internationalised clientele the level of service

To this end, we have developed global methods of cooperation in order to win over investors, planners and the fabricators. Outlook for 2016 Häfele has made an optimistic start to the new financial year. In the light of the investments already made in a global standardized IT, in markets, logistics, production and services, the company sees good opportunities for again achieving international growth throughout 2016. “We are anticipating a midsingle digit increase in revenue, due to the fruit borne by our investments and projects”, explains Managing Director, Sibylle Thierer. The amount of investment of the Group for the coming year will be approximately 35 million Euros. Risks continue to be seen in the volatile foreign exchange markets as well the growing number of trouble spots, to which a flexible and careful approach will be applied just as in 2015.

The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) is proud to announce the selection of light artist LIZ WEST as their artist in residence for Light + Building 2016 in Frankfurt, Germany. IALD is working with trade show organisers Messe Frankfurt to deliver IALD LIGHTING PERSPECTIVES , a free twoday conference divided into single presentations. Next door to IALD Lighting Perpsectives, IALD will host a free DESIGNERS LOUNGE , where IALD members, lighting designers, attendees of the conference, and industry leaders can relax, connect, and host informal meetings. But conference rooms are dull, so the IALD has involved the talents of light artist Liz West to make the Designers Lounge an appealing space where you can meet and connect with others – and with light! West’s work focuses on the human reaction to pure colour. In 2015, she exhibited more than 12 works in the United Kingdom, including the internationally acclaimed “ Your Colour Perception .” West creates vivid environments that mix luminous colour and radiant light. Working across a variety of mediums, she aims to provoke a heightened sensory awareness in the viewer through her works. She is interested in exploring how sensory phenomena can invoke psychological and physical responses that tap into our own deeply entrenched relationships to colour. West's investigation into the relationship between colour and light is often realised through an engagement between materiality and a given site. As a contributor to IALD Lighting Perspectives, West will be speaking during her session about her past works, her design theory, and her newest creation for the Designer’s Lounge. Don’t miss the chance to hear her perspective and see her work in person at Light + Building!

Great American Knows Commercial Trucking February 23, 2016

Great American, a leader in distribution for Automotive Parts and Hydraulics, initially came to J.W. Speaker in 2012 looking for an innovative lighting solution and a leader in quality. Today, they are one of J.W. Speaker’s main partners, distributing INDUSTRIAL REPORT FOR LED LIGHTING PROFESSIONALS For the latest news and insights on the web at www.superindustrialonline.com or www.edanaro.com Compare leasing and finance vendors online

commercial truck lighting across their 80 vendors throughout the southern United States.

Established in 1980, operations for Great American began in a small warehouse in Roswell, Georgia with only 3 employees and 12 direct product lines. The company focused on providing high quality heavyduty truck and trailer parts for a variety of customers and quickly grew, establishing new offices and warehouses in both Lithia Springs and East Dublin.

Their distribution now supports everything from truck fleets, repair shops, and automotive jobbers, to farmers, construction sites, and municipalities across the southern states, from West Virginia to Alabama.

It was a natural fit when Great American first came to J.W. Speaker in 2012. They were introduced by a business relationship and were quickly attracted to the core company values found at J.W. Speaker. Peter Howson, owner of Great American, explains, “J.W. Speaker had a variety of valuable traits that we commonly look for, but rarely find.” Peter noted 3 of these traits:

● Highly innovative and quality products. ● Manufactured domestically in USA.

● A vendor which is recognized as superior to its competition. Peter continues, “The most desirable thing about J.W. Speaker is the valueadd they provide to their product line. The safety features and long term cost savings provides a real value for our customers.”

They took notice of the Model 8700 Evolution that first year, and after launching that spring of 2012 they added it to their distribution line for their commercial trucking market. John Howson, president of Great American added, “After seeing the difference that their LED lights could offer, we welcomed the opportunity to partner with J.W. Speaker. We look forward to marketing the innovative and value added products that they provide for years to come!”

Great American became a main distribution partner for J.W. Speaker this year, welcoming a wide assortment of LED headlights for their heavyduty aftermarket customers. Here at J.W. Speaker, we’re excited about the prospects of jointly growing our business with them and are focused on introducing even more new products for them in 2016!

J.Führ took one look at their market and knew that LED lighting was a must. Today, J.Führ is one of J.W. Speaker’s main partners for Industrial Safety, distributing LED lighting to 24 countries across Europe.

After partnering with J.W. Speaker last year, J.Führ has expanded their LED lighting selection to now encompass a wider variety of work lights and strobe lights.

Alexander Führ, President of J.Führ, says, “From the start, we knew J.W. Speaker was the right partner for us. They were a leader in the market, producing LED technology when it was still in its infancy. We were looking for a partner that could fulfill the needs of our customers today and well into the future. We knew that J.W. Speaker was the one who could do that for us.”

Alex is no stranger to the growing needs of the industrial safety market. His parents started the company J.Führ in 1972. Initially they were selling water pressure boosting systems, which also needed gauges. From these they came to gauges for industrial trucks (hour counters and discharge indicators), which was their first foothold in this market. As the company started to sell these systems to forklift manufacturers, they recognized material handling as a key market and have since grown it into 75% of their annual business.

As they continued working with this market, it became apparent that LED technology was a must. Alex explains, “We quickly recognized that the material handling market was keen for new technologies. Warehouses are often running 3 shifts a day, 24/7, so they see an important benefit in efficiency and reliability in their lighting systems. LED lighting quickly became a focus for us in this market.”

Interested in the Model 405 LED strobe light, a customer of theirs introduced them to J.W. Speaker. “It was an easy fit,” Tilman Linn, Director of Marketing says, “We were on the lookout for an LED partner and with this introduction we found one! Early on J.W. Speaker offered one of the largest ranges of ECEcompliant road approved lights for the forklift market. This showed the capabilities of JWS to be a manufacturer of high tech LED products. And we knew, the speedtomarket was essential for success. Today J.W. Speaker continues to help us supply this demand, of SOTA lighting products to our demanding customers.”

J.W. Speaker is excited to be partners with J.Führ, whose goal is to move further away from commoditytype lights and move more toward these new hightech products, like their new intelligent work lights. “We want to be known as our customers source for

BAYER POLYCARBONATE SHEET AVAILABLE IN NEW OPTOMECHANICAL SOFTWARE LIBRARY FOR LIGHTING SYSTEM DESIGN Littleton, MA, USA – When developing new products, time is money and production and design mistakes can be costly. Lambda Research Corporation's awardwinning TracePro® optomechanical software – used for design, analysis and optimization of optical and illumination systems – allows designers to reduce costly and timeconsuming trialanderror prototyping steps. Lambda Research's latest software installment, TracePro 7.6, includes new diffuser catalogs, new features and a simplified menu structure that broaden the program's capabilities. One of the enhanced features in version 7.6 is the availability of the Makrolon® diffuser sheet catalog from Bayer MaterialScience LLC. TracePro 7.6 users can specify Makrolon® Lumen XT polycarbonate sheet for a variety of optical applications, including luminaires, LED lighting, flat panel displays, consumer electronics and aerospace applications. Dr. Ted Trautman, technology director – polycarbonate sheet products, North America, Bayer MaterialScience LLC stated, "We offer a wide range of diffusion levels within the Makrolon® Lumen XT product line to allow designers the flexibility to optimize LED light fixture efficacy and aesthetics. Optical modeling software such as TracePro allows lighting fixture designers to quickly and economically screen a range of LED and Lumen XT diffuser combinations and geometries." The TracePro program uses scatter measurements to mathematically describe how light is absorbed, refracted and scattered for each optical element, including Makrolon® Lumen XT polycarbonate sheet. To specify a grade of Makrolon® polycarbonate sheet, the TracePro user selects the correct Makrolon® polycarbonate sheet surface property from the TracePro Bayer diffuser catalog, then applies the property to the diffuser CAD model in the TracePro model. The user's design will now reflect the properties and behavior of the chosen Makrolon® Lumen XT polycarbonate sheet grade. Michael Gauvin, vice president – sales and marketing, Lambda Research Corporation, explained, "By having Bayer's material available through TracePro, users don't have to guess how the wide range of Makrolon® diffusers absorb, reflect, refract and scatter light. They now have at their disposal the measured catalog data available in the TracePro optical properties catalog and can use TracePro's virtual prototyping capability to simulate the diffuser in the TracePro model before manufacturing." This capability reduces trialanderror prototyping and gives the user the benefit of computer simulation – saving time, money and the effort required to produce prototypes. LED Engin doubles the flux density from tiny RGBW emitters to set a new standard for industryleading performance Narrowbeam stage and architectural lighting made twice as bright without increasing fixture size San Jose, CA, USA: February 18, 2016: LED Engin, Inc. has launched a 4die, high

current, RGBW flat lens LED emitter that sets a new standard for bestinclass flux density in stage, entertainment and architectural lighting. The LZ404MDPB emitter delivers more than twice the light output of the company's previous version because each individually addressable green, blue and white die can be driven at up to 3 amps and the red die up to 2.5 amps from the same 2.15mm x 2.15mm light emitting surface as its predecessor. The emitter's output ranges from tungsteneffect white lighting to a full spectrum of brilliant colors in fixtures such as moving heads with zoom optics, directional effect lighting and wall washes... The tiny emitter, which has a 7mm x 7mm footprint, rapidly and effectively dissipates up to 40 watts of power thanks to the breakthrough performance of a thinner, 4channel, multilayer ceramic substrate which cuts the thermal resistance to just 0.9 °C/W. This facilitates better heat dissipation, allowing each die to be driven to a higher current without compromising reliability or operating life. The new emitter has a lower profile substrate and thinner flat glass lens than the previous version. Secondary optics can therefore be positioned closer to the surface, maximizing coupling efficiency to deliver powerful, punchy illumination from fixtures with tightly controlled INDUSTRIAL REPORT FOR LED LIGHTING PROFESSIONALS For the latest news and insights on the web at www.superindustrialonline.com or www.edanaro.com Compare leasing and finance vendors online

Fixture designers can adopt the same secondary lenses and optical design used with any existing flat top RGBW emitters, providing the lenses are rated for the increased temperatures that result from higher power operation. LED Engin CEO, David Tahmassebi, said, "Once again, we've advanced our proprietary technologies to deliver exactly what customers in these demanding lighting applications have asked us for: ever higher light output without increasing the emitter size. Most importantly, we've done so in a way that ensures sustained performance and longterm reliability." LZ404MDPB emitters are available now from LED Engin and its distributors.
