867770 Memory. Memory shouldn’t be associated with isolation and sadness. Memory has to be associated with future, moving forward and hope. In the following project, a light has been erected for each of the people who disappeared in the MH-17 accident. Each soul is represented, materialized, each of them crosses the ground and bring light to a space dedicated to culture, learning, progress and happiness. This place has to be simple. Walking in, feeling the presence, touching. Through a space that suddenly appear, and disappear with movement, everyone can experiment the duty of memory at his convenience.

WHY ME Even if words matter, even if the way I perceive and describe myself is extremely important for you, I will be mostly appreciated on what follow in those few pages. My abilities regarding on what touches directly or indireclty the field of architecture, my graphic skills, my software abilities and if I’m able to use a cutter without ending up in the emergency room. You also probably receive more job applications everyday than I could ever imagine, so let’s keep it short. I’m cheerful, passionated, full of hope and expectations and there is nothing more essential for me than learning. I believe in the value of my work, I’m skilled in several domains and I can help on a lot of different tasks. From visualization to model-making, physically and virtually, with different tools to approach 3D modelling and its potentially manufacturing, also bearing in mind honest abilities in the conception and conceptualization of an architectural project from its very beginning throughout its development. I’ll be available from the 15th of August 2016, until the end of July 2017 for an internship in your office.

WHY HENNING LARSEN I discovered your work exactly at the same moment when nordic culture was becoming my new everyday life in Denmark. A culture that attracts by its deep relation to nature, a culture that impress when seen from the outside, but welcomes you with open arms when trying to understand it. Working and learning by your side would be another opportunity for me to be part of this culture, and make my contribution. There is an extremely futuristic resonance in the Danish approach of architecture, in the way that sustainability becomes a substantial, unescapable and central notion of architecture. By working with you, I would deepened my knowledge concerning sustainabilty in architecture and therefore, ensure my place and role in a constantly changing world. A world always more attentive every day to the relation between acts and their consequences for the environnement and humanity. I believe that Henning Larsen Architects can help me on my way to become a qualified professional, able to tackle challenges of the future of architecture.

This semester project was the opportunity to work and think about the architectural project in a rural environnement. Here we are, in the little French village «La Daguenière», with its 1300 inhabitants. We were asked, after a first territorial project done with a large group of students, to design a project integrating a lot of different programs sush as a Silo, a Research Laboratory focusing on seeds, a trip field program for schoolchild and an Observatory. We thought about 4 columns containing two silos and their necessary mechanism, as well as vertical circulations and an elevator. The aim of the project is to use those columns as a structural holder and bring the programs into the generated cross plan. A lower volume contain the most public parts of the program, such as an auditorium. The design process was tough, but allow us to design what could be the future cultural and physical Lighthouse of «La Daguenière».

The relative simplicity of the plan also creates a singular complexity when combined with the outer layout, allowing several plan combinations. This thick skin of the building contain both the public stairs that lead to the top observatory floor, as well as private circulations for each program. Each floor exploit a different spatial organization based on the same plan system, creating diversity into a coherent aesthetic and atmosphere.

Thanks to this new research center, La Daguenière also become a major focus point in the researches lead on seeds, and provide an international dimension to the left behind campaign of France. The part of financial investments in rural environnements had slowly decreased seen in correlation with the increase of urban population. This project is also a manifest for the countryside, demonstrating that monuments are not specific to metropolitan areas and big cities. After the centralization of powers and activities in those cities, we should now reconsider our vision of the city, and rediscover the potential of this nearabandonned part of the country.

OF NER ST N I W BE THE RALL OVE SSION RE IMP D 2016 A&
What follow is the result of the main project developed through the 2015 fall semester project module “Tectonic Design: Structure and Construction”, at Aalborg University in Denmark. The task was to design a new church complex in the Norwegian city of Hatlehol. The church complex should not only be a place to host the church services, but also a place for the community to meet and socialize. Unlike the traditional church this complex will be a “working-church” where all administration is done within the building. Several functions and people will be gathered under one roof. Connecting and gathering people around one common purpose has been the main focal point of this proposal.

The Church room The waffle structure used for each wing, allowed us to create specific atmospheres and at the same time keep a coherent aspect through the whole project. The project is also using the vertical structure as a tool to control flows and avoid doors as much as possible. Ideas of concentricity and connection express themselves in the building through a reciprocal layout incorporating principles from the two design themes; Nordic architecture and tectonic design.

Or «Stable au max» in French, expressing the strong structural and architectural tone of the project, and «4000» to stimulate imagination, like if this project was a teleshopping product, that you could buy and put everywhere. Defying the common statement «We could have seen this elsewhere» , and wonder if this argument is enough to break the credibility of a project. Decontextualisation is the main purpose of this 90 dwellings unit. Four bars relying on each other, like a children’s game, structurally interdependent, whose uprising generates a strongly city connected heart. An autonomous piece of green, offered to the neighbourhood and the city.

Each bar is organized under the same principle, the main structure (in green on the diagram), is supported by the next bar. Common vertical circulations are shared by two adjacent bars which then distribute to horizontal circulations (in red). What we called the «Active zone» (in blue), contain all the servant spaces of the project, wet areas. and apartment entrances. This uprising movement is creating 3 specific units, regading their position in the bar. The upper appartment, which is basically looking «over» the bar, the middle one, that has a more intimate exterior space, and the low one, that is looking «under» the dwellings and has a strong relation with the public space.

The aim of this competition, organized by [AC-CA], was to design a new Cinema for the city of Dakar in Senegal. The cinema of Dakar is dying, because of a lacking renewal and a loss into the interest of the population regarding the seventh art, and we were asked to design a new Cinema that could help and boost this renewal. For us, the future of the Dakar Senegalese cinema and a larger scale is in the most obvious and inexhaustible resource, children. 40% of Senegal’s population is between 0 and 14, they are the ones we need to educate, the ones to be aimed as a priority, because they will finally build the future of Dakar’s cinema. By broadcasting cartoons in larger part, Naawie promises to boost the spread and popularity of cinema for children, and increases the chance that bloom one day, a present cinema, well distributed, quality and a growing variety.

In a futuristic scenario the role of architecture is reconfigured into a fully perceptual augmented reality, deconstructing the need for context, program and function. Architecture will be defined by its rooted and essential qualities; tectonics without a physical boundary, atmospheres and the journey of the mind. Instead of being a static object, architecture will be defined by its ability for the user to interact and create a world with the power of curiosity and imagination. The quality of architecture will become to get lost and discover.

A LAMP FOR JADOU La lampe de Jadou is a gift for my sister, as spontaneous as it should be. Designed parametrically with Grasshopper, and laser cutted entirely, I wanted the design to be as minimal as possible, using a single material for the whole lamp, one another for the box, playing with curves by using a planar material.

Letter of recommendation I, Michel Bertreux architect. Acting as a partner of the company Tetrarc Certify that in the period March July 2015 Hugo Lebrunet was employed by our company as an architect assistance. During this period, he participated in several projects, including the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the western headquarters of a large regional bank of France. During his period of activity in our agency, he was able to grasp the complexity of public and private commissions. Hugo addressed his role with professionalism and determination. With a strong appetite for the building process, he showed real qualities to tackle and synthesize complex issues inherent in setting the architectural point of complex operations. Furthermore, I head to the Nantes School of Architecture, a teaching unit in the field of theory and practice of architecture and urban culture entitled ÂŤ Extreme Situations Âť. In 2013/2014, Hugo participated as a student in the "Extreme Situations" project. This teaching unit aims to bring the creative potential of students test a climate extreme environmental situation, to build a realistic utopia, a potential habitat. His project involved the disappearance of Inle Lake in Burma. The hypothesis developed in 2030. Extensive agriculture has devoured the lake by turning it into a wide range of cultures crossed by canals ... The tanks cities network over the territory, a new economy develops around them and their strange architecture. His final score was: 15/20 Hugo Lebrunet has very great potential. A curiosity and a great appetite for architecture. His studies at the National School of architecture of Nantes are those of a brilliant student. I think he can develop his abilities in any program of regional and urban strategies including his ability to understand the complexity of urban phenomena seen at different scales. Taking into account all the aspects of his work and personality, I wholeheartedly recommend him. To exercise that right. Michel Bertreux. Architect. Nantes, the 07/03/201
