Megan Cornelsen Megan Nicole Cornelsen was born October 31, 1997 in Liberal to Mindy and Lance Cornelsen. Megan’s plans for next year are to attend Fort Hays State University and major in nursing. Her plans for later in the future are to become a nurse, find Prince Charming, have a couple of kids, and live happily ever after. If Megan could visit anywhere in the world she would visit New York City, because it’s a beautiful city and it never sleeps. Megan’s favorite book is “Love Letter to the Dead” by Ava Dellaira. She enjoys listening to pretty much all music, but her favorite song is “My Girl” by The Temptations. She likes watching any movie where the girl falls for the cute guy. Megan’s favorite teachers are Mrs. Sosa and Ms. Lacy. Megan most admires her Granny Janny because she was such a fighter and taught her so much in her short time here on earth. School dances, cruising with her best friends, and staying up too late on school nights only to be exhausted later, are Megan’s most memorable moments in high school. She said if she could change anything about her high school career she would spend more time with her friends and not stress about stupid things. Megan's junior year of high school was the year with the biggest impact on her life because her granny died only a day after one of her classmates had died. Sustaining such shocking losses her junior year made her realize life is too short to stay home and do nothing, so for the rest of her high school career she has lived her life to the fullest.

Maverick Nelson February 25, 1997, Maverick Blu Nelson was born in Liberal to Steve and Lisa Nelson. In his spare time, Maverick enjoys listening to music, specifically country or rap music. His favorite book is “The Lone Survivor” by Marcus Luttrell and he also enjoys watching “The Pulp”. The person he admires the most is his mom because she has shown him what it means to be strong during her fight with cancer. During his high school career, Maverick most remembers Mr. Mahan's eighth hour class. His favorite teacher is Coach Rod. When he was asked what he would change in high school, he said, “I wouldn’t change a thing.” Deaths during his lifetime have had the greatest impact on him during his time period; they’ve made him realize not to take things for granted and to be thankful for the friends you have. Next year Maverick plans to attend West Texas A&M University and get a Masters in nursing. After he graduates college, he wants to visit Ireland to see the amazing scenery.

Caleb would like to visit Germany because his favorite gun manufacturing company is based there. The person Caleb admires the most is his mom because she never gives up and tries her hardest to give him a good life. What he will remember the most about school is having fun with his friends and making the most out of his four years. She reports if she could change one thing about her high school career she would have been more selective with her school activities. The person Abby admires most is her mom; she tried to attend every one of Abby’s activities. Becoming a Future Business Leader of America State officer has had a great impact on her life because she has met several amazing, lifelong friends thanks to the position.

Gabrielle Alyse Rawlins was born February 26, 1998 in Liberal to her parents Gwen and Justin Rawlins. Her favorite book is “Paper Towns” by John Green. When asked about her favorite song she said that there are “WAY too many to name” and her favorite type of music is pretty much anything. Ms. Thomas is her favorite teacher and she appreciates everything she has done for her. Gabrielle would like to visit Australia because it seems like a really neat place to her and Australians have that amazing accent! The person she admires most is her mom, because she has been through a lot and she is still faithful through it all. Her approach to life has shown Gabrielle to be faithful no matter what happens in life. One of the things she remembered about school was attending the basketball games because “. . . the community [came] together to support all the students”. What Gabrielle would like to change about her high school career would be to take all of her “missed chances” without worrying what people thought. The greatest impact on Gabrielle in high school was becoming a senior because it helped her realize who her true friends were. Next year, Gabrielle plans to attend West Texas A&M University, earn a bachelor’s degree, find a job and settle down with the love of her life and their family.

Carly Hittle

Landon remarked before he starts college, he’d like to visit New York City to admire its architecture. He vows he’ll never forget all the people he’s met in high school, but commented he would have liked his high school years to be shorter. Landon mentioned the greatest thing during all his school years will be his graduation! Right now Landon has no exact plan of what he wants to major in but he knows for sure it will further his dream of landing a good paying job.

Carly Hittle was born April 5, 1998 in Liberal to Barry and Leisa Hittle. Carly’s favorite book is “Silent Night” by Mary Higgins Clark. A place she would like to visit is the Bahamas; she has been there once and would love to go again. The person Carly admires the most is her brother, Chase, because he is her best friend, and she knows he would do anything for her. What Carly remembers the most about school is that she always had a “never ending pile” of homework. If Carly had a chance to change some experiences about her high school career, she would have been more involved in extracurricular activities. Singing solos in choir and participating in the all school musical/play her junior and senior years had the biggest impact on Carly’s high school career. Those events helped her come out of her shell and give her more self-confidence.

Jackson Crawford

Vicente Flores

Jackson Crawford was born in Liberal September 30, 1997 to Brett and Kerrie Crawford. His plans for next year are to attend college at Wichita State University and in his own words “just wing it”. His favorite book is “American Desperado” by Evan Wright and he claims to enjoy all kinds of music. “The Dark Knight” is Jackson’s favorite movie, and he says the Dallas Cowboys are his favorite team. His favorite teacher is Coach Rod. Someday Jackson would like to visit New York City because of all the people and things to do. Jackson most remembers all the times he wished high school would just “hurry up” so he could graduate, but now, it’s almost here and it seems unbelievable. He says if he could change one thing about his high school career it would be to be more involved in sports and other similar activities. The person Jackson admires most is his mom Kerrie because she is such a hard worker and always puts him and his little brother first. All the events throughout high school he experienced with his close friends have influenced his life in a very positive way.

Vincente Flores Munoz was born July 27, 1997 in Johnson to Maria and Vicente Flores. His plans for the upcoming year are to hopefully go to college and visit new places. His favorite book is “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins and his favorite song is “Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra. He doesn’t really have a favorite type of music, enjoying many different genres. He does have a favorite movie - “Ten”. Vicente’s favorite teacher would have to be Mr. Rodriguez. A place Vincente would like to visit is Europe. The people he admires the most are his family members. One event he remembers the most about school is being part of cross country. He wouldn’t change anything about his high school career because he is satisfied with how it went. Vincente’s favorite high school events were the LMD trips to universities.

Irving Hermosillo May 4, 1998, Irving Hermosillo was welcomed into the world in Chihuahua, Mexico to Miriam and Sergio Hermosillo. Irving’s favorite book is “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”. His favorite type of music is country and his favorite song is “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett. The teacher he enjoyed spending his time with was Mr. Hawley. Irving’s plans for the future are to attend Fort Hays State University and study to be an electrician. The place Irving would like to visit is Italy because of the food, scenery, and the opportunity to learn Italian. The person Irving admires most is his dad because of his impressive work ethic. What Irving remembers the most about high school was how nervous he was when he started his freshman year. If Irving could change something about his high school experience it would be to overcome his shyness. He says his shyness got in the way, and he wished he’d talked more. Iriving really enjoyed getting to meet new people each year, and becoming good friends with them during high school.

Brandi Holmes March 13, 1998, Brandi Holmes was born in Liberal to Joe and Terri Holmes. In her spare time, Brandi enjoys listening to ‘60s music and ‘80s rock, especially her favorite song “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. Brandi’s favorite movie is “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”, and she enjoys reading the book “Where are the Children?”. The teacher Brandi most admires is Mrs. Sosa. She admires both her parents the most, for they have sculpted her into the person she is today. They have also helped Brandi grow, shown her unending love, and she can’t thank them enough. Brandi’s plans for next year are to attend Wichita State University and study psychology. After completing her degree, she plans to become an Occupational Therapist. The memory Brandi remembers most about school is cruising with her friends almost every weekend and making sure she had at least one friend in each of her classes. Brandi would like to change her high school career by spending even more time with her friends and not worrying so much about tests and irrelevant matters. Brandi would love to visit Scotland to experience the beautiful scenery firsthand and mingle with the locals. The event with the biggest impact on Brandi’s life in high school was talking to her classmates about their future plans. Discussing their future plans made her realize that once school is over she won't be seeing the same familiar faces she’s grown up with. That epiphany caused her to realize everyone with whom she had spent more than twelve years of growing up will all be living their own lives. She marvels, “We will all be starting new chapters in life, and that blows my mind.”

One of the places Mariana would like to visit is the “Mariana Island” because it has her name in it, and she thinks it would be nice to visit somewhere she has never been before. People she admires the most are both of her parents because they taught her a relationship with God is the best relationship she can have throughout her life. What Mariana remembers the most about school is relying on Jesus everyday, hoping He would give her the answers to her test, always waiting for her favorite bells - the “lunch bell” and the “out of school” bell, going to the bathroom just to have a five minute break from class, and making the most memorable moments with the cross country team that she will cherish forever. If Mariana could change some experiences about her high school years it would be getting more sleep, less homework, and late starts everyday. The school events with the most impact on Mariana’s life are the cross country memories she will never forget. Her favorite memories from school range from going to State cross country for the past three years to running three to four miles a day, then ordering a large M&M Sonic Blast. Mariana’s high school memories also include the “longest bus rides” because none of her teammates were quiet, going to Two Buttes with the team during the summer, and getting to know every person on the team. Even though most of them were leaving, the team will always be a family and everything they accomplished together will be something to remember forever.
