01 GRADIENT OF THE RIVER

Riverside Park Developement

Year:2009 Third Year Project / Independent work Project Location: Taipei, TAIWAN

Taipei City

Wenshan Dist.

From Hustle And Bustle to Peaceful 1. PARKING LOT To maintain the original function and make it better. I cover the parking area by bunker to avoid sunshine, and built a courtyard in the middle of it to keep free convection and daylight.

2. Riverbank Park 3

2

Summer in Taipei is very hot. The riverbank park provide a saver space for the people in neighborhood to get close to the river.

3. Educational Garden of Aquatic Plants As a educational garden, I crop all kinds of native aquatic plants. Here is a small pier as well.

SKY WALK The sky walk connects the upper floor of the MRT station and the other side of the river. It let people approach this park more easily and can enjoy the view in different position.

PLANT ARRANGEMENT I isolate different activities by plant arrangement. Six different varieties of trees, which show different appearance in four seasons, are chosen. Most of the arbors were set in the middle of the site in order to keep an open space with lawn near the road on the parking area, and block interferes for the organisms near the waterside.

Path system In order to maintain the land set of water, the trail will be paved by permeable materials.

UNDERGROUND SPACE It’s a multifunctional space. The function of connection, parking, education and exhibition are integrated in this underground area.

02 RESUSCITATE THE WILD

Reprogramming The City Zoo Year:2010 Thesis Project / Independent work

Issues The Kaohsiung City Zoo now is facing several difficult situations, such as financial difficulty, spatial dimensions expand hardness, and the form is out of time. It can be devastating to the zoo, and has negative influence on the citizens by the wrong concept of conservation.

I reprogram the zoo into eco-park by blurring the boundary between the park and the surrounding environment. In order to maintain the responsibility of education and conservation, I develop the space by three R. First, reduce the not native species and unsustainable object. Second, reuse some of the structures. Third, recover the sit by sustainable and eco-friendly design.

Da-dao-cheng Pier

No.82, Sec.1, Dihua Street is a historical building. It located at the Da-Dao-Cheng Historical District, where the Taipei city started from. Renovation was the main target in this project. Instead of being a designer, I tried to work as an archeologist and a coordinator. Since the goal was to combine the modern function and the original circumstance, most time spent on this project was to integrating the opinions of the owner, craftsmen and historians.
