WATER LABRATORY & GALLERY This project is located in Rozelle Bay in Sydney, Australia, an area that is highly polluted with heavy metal. The brief is to design a three-part building(sentinal, bridge and island) whereby each has its own structure system and function. The sentinal built on land to be a load-bearing system that houses a gallery and an artist’s living space. The island to be a water labratory that is frame structure and the bridge as a connection. As the site is a public park that is utilised by surrounding residents, I have designed the buildings to have as much public space as possible to provide alternative areas such as cafe, roof-top park and access to the labratory to view the progress of water research.

IMMERSIVE LABYRINTH THEATRE As Sydney CBD already has the iconic Opera Theatre designed by Jorn Utzon, I saw the opportunity to design a theatre to accomodate immersive plays. In immersive theatre, the audience are not merely passive bystanders. They are part of the story, however small their role may be. Furthermore, the design of the theatre is based on the Labyrinth theory by Jorge Luis Borges In the Labyrinth when one discovers the center or in other words the purpose of their life they choose to surrender themselves to death. It means that the mysteries of the universe once revealed allows man to see time and space simultaneously. Therefore, the theatre rises as the audience progress through the spaces and at very end of their journey, they are able to see the routes that they have taken from the top.

The audience gets to see a glimpse of the outside world, through array of walls. This occurs before the end of the journey. Here, they are able to see a glimpse of labyrinth.

MACLEAY MUSEUM EXTENSION This project is located in the University of Sydney. The art and architecture are aimed to be in harmony for the extension. The design is adapted from a butterfly wing that is permanently exhibited in the Macleay museum and been used as a plan for the gallery spaces to reflect the art in the architecture. Before the design process started, I studied the Altes Musuem located in Berlin and have adapted the circulation system, grand stairs as well as the courtyard space into my extension design. The visitors are greeted with grand stairs that then guides them through the gallery spaces in a circular motion.
