NEONOMADS DESIGN BUILD 2017 - 2018 This project involves us working for the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) in Sharjah, to build a shelter for hikers and scientists in Hatta. The Project was ďŹ nished in its entirety by the end of May 2018. It is a shelter that is sustainable and is also very lightweight. As makers, we dealt with every aspect of working on a real project with clients who gave us valuable feedback. We celebrated a sense of making that comes from a design build studio and came up with efficient ways to tackle problems in the professional world of architecture.
PHASE 1 - DEPLOYMENT This roller aims at using recycled materials like cardboard tubes, bicycle rims to create a simple prototype that can be used in the desert to transport goods. This unit can be aggregated when needed. These rollers can eventually be used as storage containers and light-weight furniture in the shelter. CARDBOARD ROLL

ARC 401 / George Katodrytis Museum of Views Hatta
A series of model iterations were made to understand the dynamic nature of puzzles. The final model is superimposed onto the site, the Hatta dam, where each puzzle piece opens to different parts of the site and each view is intended to be observed as a piece of art, making this a Museum of Views. The relationship between the site and the building is celebrated with moving parts that emphasize the flexibility of the site. It is considered to be in a state of utopia.

Maya / Faysal Tabbarah Ant man's House This project is a home for the superhero, Ant-man. The tools in Maya were explored and and this design was made to understand and learn Maya to its maximum potential. The concept was to have a house where Ant-man could exist in both his big and small form. The sleek elements in the design create structural integrity by holding the building together.

ARC 402 / George Newlands Maritime Museum Al Jadaf, Dubai
This is a maritime museum in Al Jadaf, on the Dubai creek. It is located beside a an old dhow that was being constructed. It is a collaborative project which involved me and my partner making important decisions that would be made in a professional work setting. It also included the Schematic and Construction Design phase. We aimed at having a project that has merged water parking and is also materially contrasted on its facades. The under construction dhow was the most important part of the project as it gave the users an experience of a real life construction of a dhow. The Museum has big open spaces for the boats to be exhibited in with ample light for users to engage with the building. The horizon could be seen from the back of the building and it was used to create a backdrop for dhows that were exhibited.

ARC 301 / Bill Sarnecky Community Centre Al Muwailah, Sharjah
A community center for the residents in Muwailah area in Sharjah, UAE. It includes a library, gym, auditorium and cafe. It is an infill project which has subtractive and additive moves. The project has an open space on the back for relaxation purposes where one can come and sit in an open area to experience a sense of calmness. The narrow space on the ground floor tempts the user to experience the other side of the building. The relationship between the spaces is choreographed to give maximum light .

ARC 302 / Gregor Weiss Arts Center American University of Sharjah This project is an arts center located in American University of Sharjah. The auditorium for the performing arts students is the most important part of the space. The project celebrates the natural slope of the auditorium to make it an inhabitable and experiential with a cafe right under it. The secondary program like presentation rooms and lecture halls are located around the auditorium. The shell that is the auditorium creates a canopy to merge the building together as a whole.

ARC 201 / Amin Alsaden Retreat Socotra Island This is a retreat for a botanist in an island in Socotra Island. The concept behind this retreat is the long bar shaped building that has a view straight into the ocean. Additionally, keeping in mind that the ocean is the most important factor of this site, the retreat has a staircase that leads straight to the beach. The entrance to the retreat is a staircase that starts out from the roof as the whole retreat is submerged into the lanscape in order to give a clear view that is not obstructed by anything when you enter the site.

ARC 237 Furniture Design / Daniel Chavez Drawble Drawble is a two in one table and stool designed to be used as a product on which you can draw or work on. The stool has a mortise joint whereas the table has a box joint. These two join together to create a intersecting wooden piece that saves up space in a room.
