1.-Describe AIESEC 2015 in maximum fifty (50) words each to 1) a ten (10) year-old kid 2) to a newly joined member of AIESEC 3) to Sauli Niinistö (President of Finland). Kid: AIESEC 2015 is the dream of all people that is in AIESEC, the idea is to connect all young people so they can be friends so we will have a better world for all. New Member: AIESEC 2015 is the goal that members of AIESEC set during an international Congress in 2010 hosted in India to reach all young people in the world and help them to develop themselves while we create a worldwide positive impact in the society. Sauli Niinistö: AIESEC 2015 is the goal of our organization that aims to develop the potential of young people from all over the world and help to create a better understanding between them, this goal also aim to connect finnish youth with the world to create a positive impact.
2.-AIESEC 2015, Refreshed AIESEC Experience and the BHAG were created at IC India 2010 and IPM Mexico 2011, since then a) what do you see as the most powerful effect that is has brought into the organization? and b) what is the role of the term 2013-2014 for AIESEC in Finland in the implementation of 2015 mid term ambition? a) The most power effect AIESEC 2015 has, is that it aims to connect and develop all young people in the world, to accomplish this we need to develop connections with other organizations, companies and government, so trying to reach it we’re forced to grow in all aspects, positioning, exchange numbers, professionalization of membership, etc. b) MC team 2013-2014 need to focus on continue the growth of the entity by strengthening the relations with current partners and develop new ones, also MC team need to get connected with the others youth organizations in order to show them what AIESEC can offer to them, creating synergy and becoming the driver of youth organizations, by doing this we will increase our positioning and we will be closer to our goal of being the first choice partner and youth voice.
3.-Which trends do you see shaping the world and/or Finland in the following years and what opportunities and threats do they represent for AIESEC in Finland? Nowadays the fast growth and development of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) is changing our lifestyles, affecting the way we learn, interact with other people and make business. Parallel to ICT growth, the interest in going abroad is a global trend, people is now aiming to have experiences outside their countries and this has been facilitated by growth of exchange programs for Master and Doctor’s degrees as well the increasing number of exchange trainee programs ran by multinational companies and other organizations.
Opportunities:
Threats:
*High-tech industries scenario (ICT, energy, manufacture, *Stable economy. *High educational level. *Internationalization need of technology and service companies.
*A lot of youth organizations in universities. *Lack of interest of young finnish in be part AIESEC. *Increase in Abroad Volunteering Organizations.
AIESEC in finland need to take advantage of its high educational level and the offer and get approach with the postgraduates students to offer them the GIP program. The ICT growth can be harness by implementing IT tools that enhance the processes we run for MC activities and we can be the first choice partner to ICT companies by providing them worldwide talent. About the huge number of student organizations and abroad volunteering, we need to look for the way to create join ventures with them so instead of having them as threat we will be taking advantage of it and by doing this we will be becoming in the First Driver of Youth Organizations in Finland, makin easy try to engage finnish youth to join AIESEC.
4.-What is AIESEC’s unique contribution to the Finnish society? The main contribution is that AIESEC helps to connect Finland with the world, by offering worldwide talent to the current and potential news partners (Companies,NGO’s, Universities, etc); by providing international and professional experience to finnish youth through our programs (OGX, TMP, TLP), and also letting other young people experience finnish culture with the ICX programs. All this makes Finland play a more active role in the world and shows to Companies, NGO’s, government and Universities the potential of the AIESEC that is based on their global network that allows people develop themselves
5.-Elaborate AIESEC in Finland’s current state, spirit, roles of different leadership bodies and relationship between them. What kind of leaders does AIESEC in Finland need in 2013/14 and why? How do you see yourself fulfilling that role? AIESEC in Finland is starting to grow in exchange numbers by focusing on IT sector to become a GIP entity, but as well is facing problems to recruit finnish members and that they take leadership roles in Local and National level. Seeing the structure of MC 12-13 and previous ones, this year they are starting to split some areas in order to focus more their activities and ensure that the growth experienced at this moment continue its increasing. AIESEC in Finland need leaders that help to take advantage of the finnish youth potential, make them realize that they can create a huge positive impact in their country and outside it. The people that lead the entity need to be really creative, emphatic and enthusiastic to spread the spirit of AIESEC and develop great finnish leaders. How I see fulfilling this role? I see myself as a person who always looks for challenges and every time people say “NO” I say “Why Not?” for me is amazing when I can help somebody to realize about their potential so I always try to do it with the people, also I have the philosophy of “seeing the obstacles as steps to approach to my goals”. I define myself as a person that never give up, always try see the best part of the things and try to understand the environment where I’m at the moment. Also I see myself fitting for this position because I have experience starting projects, like my blog and photoblog, and as well I have experience helping to improve Communications Area as NST of AIESEC in México, OC in International NAFTA Summit 2011 and 2012 and because of my professional experience in the ICT industries. Seeing the reality of Communications area in AIESEC in Finland and due to my experiences I visualize myself finishing setting the basis of Communications for the long term.
6.-What is your vision for AIESEC in Finland, which of your top 3 personal values, strengths and weaknesses support its achievement and how do you picture organization in the end of your term? My vision of AIESEC in Finland at the end of the 13-14 term is an entity that continue its growth, becoming the leader of the Nordic Region, having more presence in the network, starting to be recognized by others student organizations because it will be becoming the leader of youth organizations and having more finnish membership driving the entity. Specifically I see Communications are already set with processes and guidelines implemented to ensure long term growth. The values, strengths and weaknesses that I have and for sure will keep me moving are: *Empathy *Passion *Creativity *Adaptability *Obstinacy
Specific Questionnare 7.-Please, choose and rank accordingly 3 positions on which you would like to work in MC 2013- 2014 (if 1 is the most desired position): 1.-Member Committee Vice President Communications
More Prefered
2.-Member Committee Vice President Incoming Exchange GCDP
3.-Member Committee Vice President Business Development
Less Prefered
8.-What are the key responsibilities and role of the MC VP Communications of AIESEC in Finland 2013-2014? What do you consider as your strengths and weaknesses regarding it? The main responsibilities are ensure the growth of AIESEC in Finland by providing support with the Brand Management, Positioning in Finnish Society (Students, Companies, Government and NGO’s), ensure the Information Management, provide and/or develop IT tools to enhance the processes of the other areas, Manage Internal and External Communications and with Business Development develop and deploy marketing strategies to increase our presence and operations in Finland.
Stregnths. Creativity: I always have been a creative person that is looking to solve problems or issues wherever I’m at, also I like to encourage people to develop their creativity, the question I always ask myself is “Why not?”, so I will use this strength to improve the performance of Comm & IM by developing strategies, creating products and troubleshooting the problems we will face. Adaptability: I have experience in many different areas facing their problems, for example in my professional life I had to learn a whole new engineering and work in different shifts (day, night and afternoon) all this in short periods of time as result I learn how to adapt my life style and take advantage of it. I will use this strength synchronize my work with the other areas looking for the middle points when disagreements and when we face unexpected changes I’ll be able to manage it and take advantage. Troubleshooting mindset: The best experience I get while working in the Network Operation Center at Ericsson was developing troubleshooting mindset. Troubleshooting mindset is be aware that everything is connected and a small problem can become a huge one if it is not attended in time, also it is know that you have to view the whole picture and start making zoom to go specific to find the cause of the issue, also I learned that you need to know when and who to engage when problems increase in number and scope. I will use this to try to prevent problems and to face them if they occur, being able to engage others and investigate further if necessary until the problem is resolved.
Weaknesses. Be too straight talking, sometimes when I have to said what I think about something or provide feedback i tend to be very direct, sometimes even rude so many times people confuse this with being critic and mean. Because I’m always get too much involved in what I do, sometimes I look for solutions to problems that I’m not responsible to resolve, so I propose ideas to solve them even when people never ask me bothering them sometimes. I like to go to the bottom of things when I’m involved too much in something spending some time for this and getting a little bit distract of what I need to do.
