The Epic Driver is now included in our club rental program, as well as through golf packages that include a custom fitting with an authorized Callaway fitter. The original Big Bertha changed the game when Callaway first introduced the iconic driver, and now the new GBB Epic Driver achieves an entirely new level of technology and performance. It’s no wonder that Golf Digest named the GBB Epic

Driver as a 2017 Hot List Gold Medal Winner. Callaway worked with aerospace experts to develop innovative technology that changes how the head and face behave at impact, which promotes more speed across a larger area of the face for increased average distance. Both the head and the shaft also incorporate Callaway’s proprietary Speed Step technology to improve airflow for a faster swing speed. The club’s combination of titanium Exo-Cage and triaxial carbon crown — the lightest ever in a Callaway driver — also creates unprecedented forgiveness in a high-launch, low-spin design.

roadmoor guests can soon enjoy a side of pickle with their tennis. This summer, The Broadmoor tennis center will convert one of its traditional tennis courts into three pickleball set ups, bringing a fun new sport to the tennis line-up. Pickleball is a growing racquet sport played on a badminton-sized court with paddles and a ball similar to a plastic Wiffle ball. Easy to

learn and accommodating to players of all levels, the game is an all-ages endeavor. Not only are the courts smaller, the nets are also a bit lower than a regulation tennis court. Rallies tend to be quick for both singles and doubles play. Look for the grand opening of Broadmoor pickleball during the ninth annual Susan G. Komen Rally for the Cure, June 10–11. day at Cloud Camp begins with the sun bursting from the plains. You can watch the flag-raising ceremony at daybreak as you savor the view of Pikes Peak and Colorado Springs. After a hearty buffet-style breakfast, some guests choose to find a cozy spot to kick back with a book. Others head out to explore the surrounding Pike National Forest or enjoy an activity — archery, disc golf, mule riding, hiking, and horseshoes are all offered. At dusk, gather for cocktails in the Main Lodge and then sit down for a relaxed meal served family style. The four-course feast may include

wild mushroom bisque, spicy gumbo, Rocky Mountain red trout, Long Island duckling, Colorado lamb, Waldorf salad, Caesar salad, apple pie, beignets and, of course, chocolate cake. Accompany it with a nice selection of house wines. Many guests relax in their cabins after dinner, but the Lodge stays open until the last camper calls it a night. Or you might roast s’mores around a fire pit and take in the star-filled sky twinkling above, with the lights of Colorado Springs shimmering below. Now that’s what we call living the high life.

CLOUD CAMP From the Manager It’s almost time to open Cloud Camp, and with this being my first season as manager, I am extremely excited! Personally, I can’t wait to explore the Sunrise Trail down to Old Stage Road that was completed last summer. I hope we can share time together hiking near the stables; I understand the mules love the added attention. There’s a quick connection to the trails leading to Seven Falls that I can’t wait to experience. I know it is directly across the road from the drop-out point of Sunrise Trail, making it a great “end hike” of 4.5 miles for guests departing Cloud Camp. Yoga classes are being planned at Overlook. The hot tubs, with their breathtaking views, will be ready to soothe you after a long day of activity. And, of course, our chef is working on a new and diverse menu to tempt your taste buds this summer. The staff and I are looking forward to serving our guests and to more adventures as we all welcome you to the 2017 season.

BURRATA CHEESE

F

ollowing the appointment of John Johnstone as the resort’s Vice President of Food & Beverage, The Broadmoor is pleased to announce new enhancements in our ongoing commitment to offering guests an unparalleled dining experience. Chef David Patterson has been named Executive Chef at The Broadmoor, only the sixth in the resort’s nearly 100year history. Chef Patterson joined our team in 2013 as our Executive Sous Chef of Restaurants. He was instrumental in opening Ristorante del Lago and Natural Epicurean, as well as the reimagining of La Taverne and The Golden Bee. Chef Patterson also shepherded Broadmoor Farms from concept to creation. “I could not be happier for David,” Johnstone says. “This promotion recognizes not only his talent and commitment to The Broadmoor, but also his wealth of experience. I look forward to partnering with Chef Patterson to continue creating culinary excellence at The Broadmoor.” Prior to joining The Broadmoor’s team, Chef Patterson trained under acclaimed Chef Alain Ducasse in his celebrated kitchens in Paris and Monaco, including Plaza Athénée, Benoit New York and Louis XV at Hôtel de Paris. Chef Ducasse invited David to assist at Benoit New York, and eventually to join in the menu re-launch of Adour at the St. Regis New York. Additionally, Chef Justin Miller has been promoted to the position of Executive Sous Chef of Banquets, where he will lead a team in extending the high-quality dishes served in our restaurants to a group setting. Chef Miller has enjoyed a distinguished career with The Broadmoor, including as Chef De Cuisine in Penrose Room and, most recently, of Ristorante del Lago. “Justin’s background gives us a unique opportunity to bring restaurant-quality dining into the group setting, highlighting innovative and creative concepts,” Johnstone says. “With the addition of Broadmoor Farms, we can also create meals for groups that are not only delicious, they're healthy.” Our chefs have worked in some of the top restaurants around the globe, and bring an international perspective to all the resort's restaurants, lounges and group dining. We invite you to taste The Broadmoor difference.

JUST FOR HIM More men than ever are enjoying the restorative benefits of a spa visit. We’ve introduced a new line of treatments that are just the thing for him.

W

here in the past some men felt like fish out of water in a spa, now they’re just asking for more cucumber water. Spa use by men has increased steadily in the past decade, and it’s clear that today's guys are taking better care of themselves, including an emphasis on skin care and regenerative treatments. “Last year we saw a 10 percent increase in our male customers,” says Cassie Hernandez, spa/ salon and fitness director at The Broadmoor. “Thirty percent of our customers are now men.” With him in mind, The Spa at The Broadmoor is pleased to introduce new treatments that are

specifically tailored for our male guests and that complement our extensive treatment offerings. Our new 80-Minute Gentleman’s Facial, for example, begins with a soothing back massage, and then focuses on the face with a simplified cleanse, mask, and a facial massage, complete with lots of steam towels. enerations of Broadmoor guests have enjoyed the legendary service, hospitality and everevolving activities and amenities of America’s premier mountain resort. And now, under its newly announced exclusive ownership, our guests can also enjoy the same commitment to excellence at Sea Island Resort in Georgia’s Golden Isles. The coming together of two iconic brands under shared, privately held ownership is nearly unheard of in today’s hospitality industry, yet it makes perfect sense given each property’s long-standing reputation. Each offers guests an unequaled experience steeped in tradition, while also continually enhancing its offerings to better serve today’s discerning luxury travelers. “While the diversity of the two settings — ocean

“While the diversity of the two settings — ocean and mountain — creates uniquely different guest experiences, what truly binds these legendary resorts together is an unwavering commitment to excellence,” —STEVE BARTOLIN, PRESIDENT OF THE BROADMOOR-SEA ISLAND COMPANY

Now in its eighth year, the PGA TOUR’s RSM Classic is a FedExCup tournament hosted by Sea Island resident Davis Love III, and held on Seaside and Plantation courses at Sea Island Golf Club.

and mountain — creates uniquely different guest experiences, what truly bonds these legendary resorts together is an unwavering commitment to excellence,” says Steve Bartolin, president of The Broadmoor-Sea Island Company. Despite the differences in scenery, the parallels are many. Like The Broadmoor’s storied golf program, Sea Island is likewise known for its three championship caliber courses — Seaside, Plantation and Retreat. Both The Broadmoor’s top-rated tennis program, and Sea Island’s Cloister Tennis Center, offer full-service

instruction and clinics for adults and children. While The Broadmoor’s Penrose Room is the only Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond restaurant in Colorado, similarly Sea Island’s Georgian Room at The Cloister is the only FiveStar and Five-Diamond restaurant in Georgia. At both spas, the stars again align, with both being consistently recognized by Forbes as the pinnacles in the industry. You don’t want to take chances with your hard-won vacation time. Our guests can rest assured that they’ll enjoy the same superior level of service and hospitality at both The Broadmoor and Sea Island.
