TO ELIMINATE any bathroom odors and make towels and sheets smell amazing, try making one of my favorite homemade linen sprays!

THINGS YOU’LL NEED ax stripper or heavyW duty cleaner Grout brush

It’s simple and requires only a few ingredients. You can make this spray with any essential oil fragrances, but I recommend lemon and lavender.

cleaner and a grout brush, but don’t use bleach as this may remove the color from the grout. Be sure to never use a bleaching solution on colored grout. A masonry sealer can be applied to clean, colored grout to ward off future stains.

FOR MILDEWED GROUT in tubs or showers, use a grout brush with a 1 to 5 solution of chlorine bleach and water (do not use bleach to clean colored grout.). Never use bleach in combination with any ammonia-based products, and be sure the area is well ventilated before you begin. When you've finished, rinse the area well to remove all traces of bleach.

WE’RE ALL FAMILIAR WITH BAKING SODA FOR OUR BAKING, but what about for cleaning? Did you know you can use it as a multi-purpose cleaner throughout your home?

Sinks see a lot of traffic — usually dirty traffic — in a day. Keep your sink looking great — naturally and safely — with baking soda. When I first started Hoosier Homemade and for many years prior to that, I used baking soda to clean our KEEP IT CLEAN

home. Not only does it work great, it’s also less expensive than commercial cleaners. Not to mention, it doesn’t have all those chemicals and fumes that the sprays do. Fast-forward a few years, and the busier I am with blogging and the business,

my husband Doug has taken over much of the cleaning for me. Now, while it’s a HUGE help to have him working with me, guys sometimes just like doing things their own way. And he liked using the sprays. Since I didn’t want to complain — after all, he was cleaning the house — I let

him clean with the products he wanted. Then along came the opportunity to use baking soda, so I had him give it a try for himself. Let’s just say — he is sold on using baking soda from now on. Just a sprinkle of the baking soda in the sink, a little water and a sponge is all he used. Baking soda is perfect for the laundry room too. Add two scoops of baking soda to your load to get your clothes whiter and fresher.

1 Check The Sprayer Arm. Sometimes the way you load the dishwasher can put utensils or plates in the way of the sprayer arm’s rotation. The holes of the arm can also become clogged; use a toothpick or another item to dislodge whatever is stuck.

2 Check The Drain. Look in the bottom of the dishwasher and remove any food or other clogs from the filter. Then, run the garbage disposal to clear out the drain they share.

3 Don’t Confuse Scraping With Washing. Never throw dishes in the dishwasher with food on them. And don’t just rinse them with water either. If there are hard-to-remove food scraps on your dishes, use a utensil to remove them. The dishwasher won’t always be able to remove them, and you don’t want to clog the drain.

4 Test The Water. There’s a chance that minerals are making your water hard. This includes salts like magnesium chloride and calcium chloride or other ground minerals. It leads to cloudy residue on your dishes and the washer itself. If that’s the case, you should have a softener installed.

5 Clean The Dishwasher Trap. In the very bottom of the dishwasher, under the sprayer, is a removable trap that will likely contain pieces of food that didn’t make it through to the drain. Sometimes, the tray will come out completely, and sometimes it won’t. Clean it out regularly.

6 Clean The Dishwasher Seals. Over time, your dishwasher seal (i.e. what keeps the water from getting out during the wash) accumulates debris around the rubber. Clean the rubber gasket with a damp towel so the grime doesn’t build up and break the seal.

7 Clean The Inside Of Your Dishwasher. Inside your dishwasher, there’s the potential for grease, detergent residue and calcium buildup. Use vinegar to wash all of that away. Run a cycle of the dishwasher with vinegar only (no detergent) every few months. It helps to keep the dishwasher clean.

8 Check The Water Heater’s Temperature. Make sure your water heater is between 120 and 125 degrees Fahrenheit. Otherwise, your dishes are not being washed appropriately. If it’s too high, your dishes will not be flash dried and the dirt won’t come off.

9 Don't Overcrowd The Dishwasher. While you want to fit all of your dishes into the dishwasher, you don’t want to block the sprayer arm. Organize it well; maybe compromise and hand wash a few dishes.

10 Don’t Overuse Detergent. It’s not always necessary to fill the detergent cup. Some dishwasher manuals will tell you fill it only one-fourth or one-half of the way. Check your dishwasher’s M ARN ORE manual. LE

STEP 1 • Use

two 8-inch pipe wrenches or slip-joint pliers and attach the elbows to the ends of your pipe. Cover the jaws of the pipe wrenches or pliers with a heavy cloth so they don’t scratch the pipe and fittings.

2 – ½” floor plates – 1” stainless steel 12 wood screws

STEP 2 • Now

thread the close nipples into the elbows, do not tighten at this time.

FAST FIX This project was quick and easy, in less than an hour, including drying time, the industrial towel bar was up and ready to use.

DIY Menu Board Hey mom, what’s for dinner? OH HOW MANY TIMES I’ve heard this from my family over the years. I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect way to answer that question. After much thought, I came up with the perfect DIY Menu Board.

I wanted the board to be awesome so it combines functionality and good looks. While I love the look of chalkboard, I didn’t necessarily want the mess of all the chalk dust. My creative

solution ... cover it with clear acrylic plexiglass and use a white chalk marker or neon dryerase markers . This also makes it easy to clean. I used wall decals to add beautiful

This takes the most time but it is worth it. tart with the 1″ FrogTape, run a S strip around the perimeter of the chalkboard, then add an additional strip at the top. orking from the top left hand W corner mark 3 1/4″ in from the left. Repeat at the bottom. Then again start at the top left hand corner and mark the left edge at 8, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38 and 44. Repeat along the right hand edge.

ow we get to make the menu N board look awesome. Work from the top down starting with the menu decal. Read the directions provided by the manufacturer and important preparation tips for a foolproof application.

ext, find the center of the menu N decal, align the mark with the top center mark on the board. Remove the backing paper and align the marks. Smooth out the decal using the provided squeegee. arefully and slowly peel off the C transfer paper. Then run a piece of decorative masking tape across the top. ow let’s move on to the other N decals, this is where you’ll be glad you spent the time marking and making the string grid. Follow the same basic steps you did to apply the menu decal but use the strings to align them to keep them straight and true. Align the top and bottom dots with the vertical string and the left and right dots with the horizontal string. nce all the wall decals are on you O can remove the tape and string.

If you’re a wine collector or just like to have a few bottles on hand for unannounced guests, vertical storage can do wonders for keeping fragile bottles off countertops.
