HUNTSMAN TAKES SAVILE ROW ACROSS THE USA As our store needs some minor repairs, This Fall we are taking our newly refurbished Airstream RV travelling across the US to celebrate Huntsman’s expansion in New York. We now have our dedicated Cutter Ralph Fitzgerald from our Savile Row home take residency in the US, offering Savile Row Bespoke Cutting services from 57th Street in New York. The Airstream plans to visit Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Louisville, Napa Valley, Black Rock City and other various exciting destinations to be confirmed.

WOOD, METAL AND FABRIC HAVE BEEN CAREFULLY CHOSEN TO COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER It all started with the countryside; for Lagrange, a keen sportsman, that includes time spent hosting shooting parties at his home in Hampshire. And it was when he was looking to create more rooms for guests that an idea came to him that would pay tribute to Huntsman’s heritage, and give it a modern twist. He knew he wouldn’t get permission to extend the house, living in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. So he decided to take the indoors outside – to the orchard in fact, where two vintage Airstreams glimmer and glint in the sun.

REFLECTIONS CURL ACROSS THE POLISHED ALUMINIUM CEILING At the heart of each Land Yacht, as they’re affectionately known, is a Huntsman tweed. “For one we chose a purple check to suggest the heather moorlands of Scotland. And the other is a more sandy hue to match the earth of the local partridge fields.” Tweed lines the walls and is enhanced by richly grained woods, antlers, copper and iron. The colours are earthy and warm, the textures sensual and rewarding. Some of the original aluminium has also been kept and polished to a high sheen, rippling with the light that streams in through the windows.

ASTON MARTIN SHOOTING BRAKE Following on from the success of the Airstreams, Lagrange has had his vintage Aston Martin DB5 Shooting Brake covered in tweed too – a stony grey check to match the silver birch original exterior. This Concours d’elegance winner is featured in the September issue of Vanity Fair en Route, by Nick Foulkes.

THE USA TOUR HUNTSMAN AIRSTREAM The iconic 1980’s original Airstream has received a full Huntsman Savile Row Bespoke treatment, thanks to a careful restoration program by Timeless Travel in Colorado. The exterior, sheltered by our Huntsman red claret awning, has a vinyl stripe in a Bespoke Tweed design for Interior designer Robert Couturier. Inside, we used the Tweeds designed homage to Gregory Peck, with striking patterns, balanced by the subtle shade of the Thane of Cawdor Tweed. A selection of Bespoke Tweeds designed in collaboration with Huntsmen American enthusiasts, Picasso scholar John Richardson, architect Leo Daly and American Vogue’s editor-atlarge Hamish Bowles complete the personal touch of Bespoke Tweeds.

FROM THE HUNTSMAN CLUB TO THE AMERICAN HIGHWAY The Airstream upholstery features the Tweed adorning the walls of our Savile Row Club room, bringing a bit of our London home to the American Roads. We could not move the Tweed pool table sadly!

AMERICAN TWEEDS
To celebrate our expansion across the pond, we have worked with four of our beloved Huntsman clients from America to create Bespoke Tweeds for our suitings and Interior design commissions. Messrs Couturier, Daly and Richardson selected a pattern from the Carnegie family, clin d'oeil to our 57th store, a stone's throw from Carnegie Hall. While Mr Bowles selected a classic herringbone pattern with purple accents as in our Northern grouse moors. The Huntsman Airstream features those fine gentlemen Tweeds, upholstering beds, sofa, walls, driver and passenger seats.

FIRST STOP ON THE HUNTSMAN TOUR: PEBBLE BEACH, CA Over the coming months, our team of highly skilled Cutters are travelling from state to state to provide our cherished US clientele with the Huntsman Experience. The first stop on our road trip was Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where showgoers were given a taste of Huntsman's history and what to expect when ordering one of our bespoke suits.
