HUNTSMAN BESPOKE CREATIONS FOR AMAZING PEOPLE SINCE 1849

Contemporary since 1849... Huntsman prides itself on its rich heritage and its reputation as one of the finest and most long-standing yet innovative bespoke houses on Savile Row. The most stylish leading men of every generation have relied on Huntsman’s perfect understanding of a gentleman’s bespoke desires, from Heads of state and Royalty to Sport and Rock stars. Quality and attention to personal needs and details are unmatched anywhere else in the world, hence leading designers also come to Huntsman for their own bespoke creations.

From our forebears legends...

To today’s connoisseurs...

Marc Jacobs & Char Defrancesco Huntsman had the pleasure of dressing Marc Jacobs and his husband Char DeFrancesco for their wedding in March of 2019. We also created Mark’s bespoke suit to accept MTV VMA’s first Fashion Trailblazer Award.

Alexander McQueen x Huntsman In 2004 when Lee Mcqueen wanted to work with the finest tailor on Savile Row, he turned to Huntsman.

The result, this striking double breasted, puppytooth suit, with extremely chic white silk lining and black edging.

Alexander McQueen x David Bowie McQueen also worked with Huntsman to create this spectacular hand embroidered frock coat for music legend David Bowie.

Bill Blass Another iconic couturier fan of Huntsman, Bill Blass, a faithful client of the house for decades.

The Burning Man Onesie Commissioned by Pierre Lagrange, owner of Huntsman, a bespoke onesie created especially for Burning Man desert climate. To achieve the tie dye effect, the driving suit was hand dyed in a bath by a Huntsman tailor.

Huntsman x Kingsman Kingsman movies where born and filmed in part at Huntsman, by long standing customer, director Matthew Vaughn, trusting Head Cutter Campbell Carey to create the now iconic orange velvet dinner jacket, a daring combination of color tamed by a perfect cut

The Hamish Bowles Tweed

Inspired by his love of the Scottish moors, Vogue’s editor Hamish Bowles created his own Huntsman tweed. Hues of vibrant lilac and mauve are punctuated with mossy green and sky blue for a unique cloth.

David Oyelowo’s Bespoke Jacket When David Oyelowo was nominated for Best Actor at the Critics Choice Awards in 2015, he found he had another reason to celebrate. The ceremony was to be held on 15 January: the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr, the man he’d played in Selma to such great acclaim. King’s message of compassion, equality and justice remains as relevant today as it was in the south of the fifties and sixties. And Oyelowo was keen to make the most of the coincidence. With Huntsman he came up with the idea of using his clothes as a talking point.

David Oyelowo’s Bespoke Jacket From the outside, Oyelowo’s suit for the ceremony is sombre and elegant. Inside, it is exquisite. Cream silk stitches curl through the black silk lining, as though the needle has been dipped in ink. Read them, and you’ll discover the words of Martin Luther King’s favourite psalm “Take My Hand, Precious Lord”. On top of the 80 hours that went into making the suit, Huntsman’s embroiderer added another 20, painstakingly forming each letter from hundreds of tiny stitches.

Boy Meets Girl: Ed Ruscha Lining Huntsman’s legendary sartorial style became a bona fide work of art, courtesy of a collaboration between the house and celebrated American artist Ed Ruscha. Ruscha lent the design of his striking 1987 work, “Boy Meets Girl,”– an acrylic painting that depicts a dazzling grid of lights, overlaid with the words “Boy Meets Girl” – to the lining of a one-off Huntsman jacket, which was auctioned in October for $26,000 to benefit America’s Alzheimer’s Association.

Lord Londonderry Twill As with most inspired ideas, the birth of our Londonderry Twill came from an unexpected origin, when Huntsman’s Chief Archivist Paul Abraham found a 1970s Huntsman made for Lord Londonderry for sale on Ebay. Huntsman’s owner Pierre Lagrange was so taken with the wide lapels and flared trousers that he commissioned his own in the same style, however first would come the challenge of finding the right cloth for the job; Huntsman’s Co Head Cutter Dario Carnera worked with Holland and Sherry to create a modern version of this vintage revival, now available to all Huntsman clients.

Andre Leon Talley Andre Leon Talley was first photographed in a bespoke Huntsman suit in 1986, and has been a fan of the house ever since. Photographed here with Marc Jacobs in a distinctive, chalk stripe, double breasted suit.

A Bespoke Commision: Kesewa Aboah For his wedding coat, Huntsman’s owner Pierre Lagrange knew that he wanted something truly bespoke, and truly remarkable. pierre commissioned artist kesewa Aboah to create a canvas based piece, based on her paper based stitching art pieces to then be incorporated into a Huntsman coat to wear on the big day!

Marc Newson Marc Newson, designer of the Apple Watch commissioned Huntsman to create the perfect bespoke driving suit for driving his 1950s Ferrari and 1920s Bugatti in the Mille Miglia race

The Marc Newson Driving Suit Process For discussing his bespoke commission with Head Cutter Campbell Carey, Marc Newson came fully equipped with a reference book of individual details to create the ultimate driving suit. The suit had to be the perfect combination of comfort and technical performance, with consideration such as designing the right pocket to reach for his sunglasses or toll money whilst cramped in a foetus like driving position and not lose precious minutes in the race.

Ini Archibong Ini Archibong, designer of the newest Hermes watch, commissioned Huntsman to create a killer three piece suit in hues of green and yellow, in homage to his ancestral Nigerian roots

Tomoaki Nagao Known better as Nigo, the Japanese fashion designer, DJ, record producer and entrepreneur best known as the creator of the urban clothing line A Bathing Ape (Bape). Known for his love of headwear, Huntsman produced a series bespoke hats for Nigo’s personal collection.

Ashley Hicks Suit Renowned designer and artist Ashley Hicks is celebrated for his vibrant and intricate interior design, bold unapologetic use of colour and pattern which define his signature interior style. Hicks turned to Huntsman for his bespoke suit, but with his commision he wanted something truly unique. Knowing Huntsman’s reputation of bespoke excellence and innovation in tailoring, Ashley worked with us to create a cloth all of his own. Taking his own design, Huntsman printed directly onto a cotton cloth, to create the fabric for Hicks two piece suit. The resulting cloth was everything you might expect from an Ashley Hicks design; subtle, intricate and striking. A typically conservative pallet of blues is deconstructed in the print which comprises of fluid lines and circles; a commision that truly represents Ashley as an individual and his brand.

Huntsman & NFL The worlds of bespoke tailoring and American Football had a serendipitous meeting when Huntsman’s creative director Campbell Carey fit Jacksonville Jaguars star players Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson in celebration of the NFL coming to London.

The Francis Bacon Art Lining A blast of colour. A flicker of movement. A flash of detail. Huntsman has perfected the art of printing on silk and lining a jacket to deliver the ultimate private commission. For collectors, this service has opened a new route to personal expression. For Pierre Lagrange, Huntsman chairman, here was an opportunity to play with expectations. On the outside, his camel coat is classically cool and stylish. Inside it explodes with colour – oranges, yellows, black and greens – in a detail from Francis Bacon, Landscape in Malabata. A technically demanding piece, balancing the tones and getting the best colour match was a highly collaborative process between printer, tailor and client.

Tiziano Mazzilli His own avant-garde, often outrageous and always iconic style may seem at odds with the formality of Savile Row tailoring, however, Huntsman has created garments for Tiziano Mazzilli, founder and head designer of iconic VOYAGE brand, which reflect his own aesthetic, with the appreciation of the quality and craftsmanship of a bespoke commission.

Michael Craig-Martin Huntsman’s legendary sartorial style became a bona fide work of art with a dinner jacket designed in collaboration with Michael Craig-Martin, for a JDRF charity auction. Michael Craig-Martin, regarded as the principal figure of British conceptual art, designed a bespoke lining for the garment. His work probes the relationship between objects and images, harnessing the human capacity to imagine absent forms through symbols and pictures. The perceptual tension between object, representation, and language has been his central concern over the past four decades.

Huntsman x London College of Fashion: Huntsman asked 27 students to consider the beauty of bespoke tailoring within the context of sustainable fashion while discussing the evolution of a garment through design, innovative cutting and manufacturing to produce pieces of exceptional quality that may exist for many decades and transcend fast fashion trends.

Using the pork product as a canvas, each student was briefed to reimagine Huntsman in their language, using the pork to create a new and original garment which honour Huntsman’s tradition of utmost bespoke craftsmanship.
