In our company every employee contributes to the creation of the collection. From the members of the development department, through sales, production, stores, checking and the accounts department. We test out every prototype, we discuss it, offer ideas, and we constantly point out potential improvements. And this is just it! This is the driving force which moves us forward. The passion of everyone for the common cause: to improve, innovate and present new, improved, lighter and even more functional products. I can assure you that it is not different this time. The new collection is innovative in all ways. New items, innovations but also a return to well-known, tried and tested models in a new rendition. In our top Mountain Top Series, the jacket Pandora - ladie‘s version of the popular jacket Cerro Torre is worthy of mention for its design. And we are also offering to customers much wanted ¾ version of the tried and tested summer trousers Cruise Lady. And we welcome a new addition to our strong lineup of trousers – the universal sports trousers Cascade Light, lighter version of the year-round model. The Mountain Top Series remains the main standard bearer of the values of the brand DIRECTALPINE and guarantees maximum functionality and reliability under all circumstances. The first thing that strikes one about the popular Outdoor Active Series is the greater use of colour. Customers will definitely appreciate the shorts and trousers, functional „traveller‘s“ shirt or, for example, ladie‘s skirt made of popular and tried and tested material. You will also notice that we have not skimped on the innovations in the fashionable Climbing Series. First of all we present to you fundamentally improved climbing jackets and sweatshirts, and secondly a whole pallet of trousers in the many variants and colours so important for customers and your sales. The new summer collection represents far more than just the last half year of our work. It is also the result of many years of work on all our various ideas. Laboratory for outdoor testing We use the most up-to-date materials and textile technologies. For the focused selection of high quality and functional materials it is necessary to test all of them both by actually wearing the product (the Direct Alpine testing team) and by thorough checking and verification of the parameters and the properties of the materials selected under laboratory conditions. We have a fully-equipped laboratory available in which all the materials are subjected to testing for scuff-resistance, breathability, waterresistance, water repellence and durability. Do you know, for example, how it is that your Patrol, Mountainer or Cruise trousers withstand several years of very intensive wear without any damage? We test all materials that are utilised on a professional Martindahle device and choose only those that are of the highest quality.

This is a device for determining the resistance of fabrics to abrasion and to pilling. The material is rubbed against a standard woollen fabric that actually works like sandpaper. The benchmark for quality fabrics is cca. 15,000 revolutions without the occurrence of any major damage. (This is equivalent to approximately 3 years of normal use without any pilling). Our basic trousers will survive 20,000 to 40,000 of these revolutions. Illustrated are the effects of the pilling tests for the Patrol and Badile products (materials) following 20,000 and 40,000 revolutions. We measure the breathability of the fabric - so important for comfort during increased activity - objectively on the device that simulates the behaviour of human skin.

Human skin simulation This device measures resistance to water vapour. It is based on the use of a heated and humidified porous board that simulates human skin. The measuring monitors the interdependence of the evaporation of the moisture and the heat flow. At DIRECTALPINE we use for this measurement a method that evaluates the vapour permeability of the membrane in g per m2 and per 24h. (or alternatively using the Ret method). Important for most customers who really move around outdoors are materials that adequately protect them against the effects of wind. This property is difficult to express objectively - everybody has different opinion, every tester has a slightly different experience that may depend on the physical constitution of the individual or on the force of the wind and the temperature. Ideally, therefore, is to use an objective laboratory method in conjunction with the apparatus for measuring resistance to airflow.

This test determines the resistance of textiles to the effect of exposure to outdoor air. The lower the level of windpermeability of the material, the more resistant it is to the actual effect of the wind. Therefore you can go out into a strong cold wind in a TACUL jacket and/or CRUISE trousers and you will be sufficiently protected. At the same time these materials are perfectly breathable even during increased activity such as walking or running uphill. It simply keeps you comfortable even under demanding conditions. We want you to benefit from the best materials; their quality makes them the ideal choice for both maximum comfort and durability.
