EXPERT TIPS FOR YOUR SP SPRAYER

Proper cleaning and decontamination is essential to avoid crop damage and performance issues with a sprayer. Ensure you flush dead zones like the fence line circuits, second flow meters and boom ends.

Regularly check cab air filter restriction level indicator and replace carbon filters yearly.

To maintain correct rate and spray pressure check the pressure is returning to zero when pressure is relieved from boom. Carry out a nozzle catch test to ensure flow meter accuracy.

To prevent tyre wear and help Autosteer accuracy, periodically turn steering full lock left to right at least five times to rephrase steering cylinders.

Compare nozzle flow rate with a new nozzle, replace if more than 10% from new spec.

Keep the area clean around suspension, mud can accumulate and wear holes in air bag.

SPRAYING TECHNIQUE Broadcast spraying is when the entire field is to be treated. The width that each nozzle sprays, adjusted for spray overlap, is the distance between nozzles on the spray boom. Band spraying is when planted rows or unplanted gaps are treated. The width that each nozzle sprays is the width of the treated band.

SPRAYER SPEED Forward speed of the spraying machine should be measured accurately. Radar or ultrasound speed sensors should be calibrated after installation or servicing.

Wheel-driven speedometers should be calibrated whenever the driving surface changes, such as after cultivation. Speed can be determined if it is known how long it takes to drive a measured distance: DISTANCE (M) X 3.`6 SPEED IN KM/H = TIME (SECONDS) Improved vehicle design means that speeds up to 30 km/h are now possible. Higher speeds (15–30 km/h) improve work rates and timeliness; lower speeds (10–15 km/h) give improved canopy penetration and make spray drift control simpler.

CORRECTION FOR SPECIFIC GRAVITY OF SPRAYED LIQUID Application rates shown in the nozzle charts in this guide are based on tests with plain water. Calculating a Correction Factor allows you to use the tables to select a nozzle for liquids that have a different specific gravity (S.G.) to water (e.g. liquid fertiliser): CORRECTION FACTOR =

Example: if your nozzle spacing is 90cm, your application rate will be 0.56 times what is shown in the tables for nozzles spaced 50cm. ARAG BOOM RECIRCULATION SYSTEM The Arag Boom Recirculation System allows the boom to be fitted in a single boom line recirculation configuration. This allows the flow to travel through the boom and back to the tank when not spraying. The Arag Boom Recirculation Kit consists of special stainless steel to T3 adapters, a series of Arag fittings, valves and a switch box. When deciding which nozzle to use, bear in mind that the application rate tables are for water. Because the specific gravity of liquid fertiliser is higher, a correction factor needs to be applied to select the correct nozzle.

Oils, coolant, filters and parts are not included. Travel charges apply for on-site servicing. No additional work will be done without your authorisation. Additional mechanical repairs outside of warranty will be charged at normal retail rates.

Parts and labour for recommended repairs not included. Customers must have an up to date and current account. All recommended service repairs are completed using your choice of genuine John Deere or A&I aftermarket parts. Travel for on-site Expert Check is included in price (up to 150kms from nearest Hutcheon & Pearce location). Boom and tank must be decontaminated, flushed and cleaned prior to Expert Check. The H&P Expert Check Guarantee only applies if the recommended preseason repairs were completed by us.
