A crankshaft damper protects your engine from any harmful vibrations that could occur when torque is applied. Dampers can help extend belt life, reduce gear wear, and protect the crankshaft. The engine damper consists of an inertia ring, elastic member, and hub assembly which is attached to the crankshaft. The damper should be replaced whenever an engine is overhauled or replaced with a re-manufactured engine.
