Welcome

John Deere World HQ, Moline IL,

Welcome to the 2020 Autumn edition of High Performance Magazine.

I

f you’re anything like me, you’ll be glad to see the end of what has been a crazy summer in Australia, and looking forward to improved conditions ahead.

With the devastating bushfires that have swept our country, our thoughts are with everyone affected as well as our many incredible staff that stood up to fight the fires. We know it’s a long road to recovery and we will continue to provide assistance wherever and whenever we can to ensure farmers across our region get back on their feet quickly. Despite the soft harvest and tough climatic conditions, we have seen a generally optimistic start to the year. It may be due to the first signs and forecast of long-awaited rain or perhaps it’s just a move away from the stifling heat, but we’re seeing a lot of good activity in the livestock market and quite a bit in prep for the upcoming Winter crop. On the Hutcheon & Pearce front, it’s been positive here, too. We graduated our first TOPGUN class to have gone through their entire apprenticeship on the program and welcomed some new (green) blood to the team. If you see a new face, make sure to give them a warm welcome to the family. We launched our High Performance Package – a solutionsbased product that offers fixed payments, extended warranty periods and servicing to help businesses maintain a good handle on fixed costs and control their expenses. We’ve really tried to build a package that brings lot of value and flexibility to our customers and so far the uptake has been very encouraging.

We also launched the John Deere Construction range across the region. Ever-mindful of our agricultural core business, we see this small construction line as complementary to our ag products with the likes of mini excavators and skid steers having clear cross-over value. If anyone is curious about the options that could work onfarm, talk to your local H&P branch. And the icing on the cake? We recently picked up the John Deere 2019 Dealer of the Year for Australia and New Zealand. More than just a nod to sales, this award also factors in important metrics such as customer satisfaction. I was proud to accept the same award 12 months ago, but I was even prouder to take the stage to accept it for the second year running. I need to acknowledge the support and loyalty of our customers, as well as the commitment and performance of all the H&P team. It’s when I travel to events like this in California, and others like the John Deere CEO Summit in Texas in February, that I realise just how well we are doing things here in our little pocket of the world. Enjoy this edition of the HP Magazine and be sure to pop in to chat with your local dealer about what’s new. Here’s hoping the forecast remains favourable and we see the dams filling soon. Arron

Fresh faces and new beginnings for TOPGUN It’s been a great start to the year for our TOPGUN apprenticeship program, as we inducted a whole new set of fresh green-bloods with our new apprentice orientation and celebrated the graduation of our very first cohort of start-to-finish TOPGUN recruits. We asked HR Mentor, Matt Duffy to reflect on both achievements.

O

rientation

Every year, we hold a two-day orientation for the new group of apprentices – mechanical and parts alike. We believe it’s very important to give the group the best start possible and make sure all the little but really important things are clear for them. Forever improving, we changed it up a bit this year and organised for the group to have a session with a retired driver trainer from the NSW Police. We robbed some time (and a WHS presentation) from Pete Goodsell and slotted in this driver awareness program. It was a real eye-opener for the group in terms of stopping distances and phone usage behind the wheel. The group also had a tour of the TAFE campus and a chat with the teachers, a chat with Harriet in Marketing regarding social media and the impact it can have from a work point of view, a chat with Jase from ITC, a chat with Shayne from Payroll discussing all the finer details, and a chat with Sonja about staff debtor accounts. To wrap up the second day, we were lucky enough for Geoff Simpson from C.L.E.E.R to speak to the group about teamwork. Geoff is a local Wiradjuri man and has a unique way of relating Indigenous culture to teamwork. I think the two days put everyone in good stead for the rest of the journey.

4

Hutcheon & Pearce

Well done and welcome to our new recruits: • Salvatore Bettio from Albury • Alex Rogers and Sam Thomas from Wagga Wagga • Jacson Reardon, Tom Breust and Neil Simpson from Temora • Mitch Bowden and Angus Johnston from Cowra • Hayden Cummings and Matt Grech from Forbes • Jason Reynolds, Jason Kearines and Sam Doidge from Griffith • James Hall from Coleambally • Jack Werner from Finley Graduation The 2019 Graduation was another successful night on the TOPGUN calendar. This year we celebrated the completion of 19 apprenticeships, with 13 able to attend a night full of laughs and fun memories. The graduation was a chance to celebrate the achievements of our apprentices and it was particularly special because the class graduating was the first TOPGUN class we recruited, starting back in 2016, and the first to complete the entire program.

2019 TOPGUN Graduation: 13 of the 19 2019 apprenticeship graduates

I was really proud of this group. I thank everyone who has put the time and effort into training them, and I thank the graduating apprentices for their commitment to their learning.

The TOPGUN program is moving into its sixth year in 2020 and the benefits are really coming to the surface now – like the 14 great young staff we just trained and employed, who will only get better and better as time goes on.

The thing I am most proud of is the number of graduates this year sticking with H&P. From the 19 completed apprenticeships, 14 have committed to staying on with us.

Thanks to all those that put the time and effort into ensuring the success of both the orientation and graduation this year.

Congratulations to the following graduates progressing with H&P: Shan Lewis Luke Wood Bryan Green Sam Cropley James Bennett John Soligo Sally Clayton

Mat Booth Matt Leadingham Lewis Dingwall Brad Herbert Luke Bake Bromeo Purtell Lachlan Foster

Congratulations and all the best to the following graduates that have since left H&P: Matt Hudd Mackenzie Devlin Joel Trenerry

H&P Photo Competition Todd finds beauty in the every day

H&P Photo Competition winner, Todd McCarten

We asked and you delivered! When we put out the call for your best John Deere photos as part of our 2020 Calendar Photo Competition we didn’t expect to be inundated with so many fantastic shots. What a talented bunch you are!

T

he winner of the 2020 Calendar Photo Competition was Todd McCarten of Nargoon, Rankin Springs, who snapped an impressive sunset on a day on the farm just like any other. It just goes to prove what many of us already know; there’s beauty all around when you’re lucky enough to live and work on the land. Todd was wrapping up a long day’s work on the header when he took a moment to capture the beautiful sunset he saw withhis iPhone. “We were in the middle of harvest and we were just about to walk off but there was a really nice sunset behind our two headers, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to take a photo.” When he saw the Hutcheon & Pearce 2020 Calendar Photo Competition, Todd remembered the shot and decided to enter. “I take photos here and there. If I see something worth taking, I’ll stop and take it. I tend to wait for the perfect opportunity that I think people would enjoy, I suppose. “It could be a dust storm, or a really hazy day, or like in the [winning] photo, just a really nice sunset. I try to capture the beauty of the land, which is there even in the drought.”

6

Hutcheon & Pearce

When he’s not taking photos, Todd is working on his family’s 16,000 acre cropping and sheep farm in Rankin Springs and their 20,000 acre property in Nymagee, near Cobar. With farming in his family for five generations, Todd hopes to take over operations from his parents one day. “I love working the land. You’re your own boss and you sort of rely on yourself. You take pride in what you do. “While things at Ranking Springs are looking pretty dry right now, there’s rain forecast that’s looking promising, so fingers crossed!” Todd’s next adventure might see some more winning photos, as he prepares to race his motorbike in the Finke Desert Race, an off-road, multi-terrain race from Alice Springs, through desert country to the small Aputula (Finke) community, in June. “It’s the biggest race of its kind in Australia. I’m sure to get some shots along the way.” We can’t wait to see the photos, Todd!

High Performance Magazine Autumn 2020

A new day. A new Deere. It’s not every day we get to add a completely new range of machines to our arsenal, so taking on a John Deere Construction franchise has got us pumped. From May 2020, we’ll be offering compact construction equipment – one of just six dealers on the eastern seaboard to do so.

A

nyone who knows John Deere knows they are world leaders in providing products and services to those who live and work on the land

Their world-leading expertise extends to the range of John Deere Construction and Forestry machines – dump trucks, excavators, backhoes, graders, bulldozers, skid steers and loaders – machines to handle just about any excavation or construction situation. Following a successful 29-year distribution arrangement with Hitachi Construction Machinery, John Deere has recently appointed a number of construction and forestry dealers across Australia. As Sales Operations Manager Andrew Watt explains, the compact construction equipment arm of John Deere has just opened up as a new franchise opportunity for agricultural dealers, and Hutcheon & Pearce couldn’t be happier to jump on board. “Hutcheon & Pearce has been successful in getting a franchise for all our locations, which means we are now able to sell skid steer loaders, compact track loaders and compact excavators.

8

Hutcheon & Pearce

“To start, we’ll have 1.8 and 3.6 tonne excavators for the tradesmen or small earthmoving contractors and that will expand up to 8 tonnes in the coming year or so. “We will have enough stock to have visibility in our major locations at first and as volume increases, we’ll have visibility across every branch.” Andrew said Hutcheon & Pearce representatives were asked to be part of initial market investigations by the John Deere Construction & Forestry team, based in Singapore. “We found that the new franchise would be quite a nice complement to the Small Ag and Turf product line, because we do have quite a lot of customers, in particular the turf farms, dairy operators and veggie growers, that already have this type of equipment on-farm and we were pretty keen to showcase the John Deere line-up to them. “There’s also a huge industry around tradesmen owning their own equipment rather than hiring, with finance packages, government incentives and hire-to-buy options these days making this more and more affordable. “Apart from the builders, plumbers and electricians, we’re keen to also talk to earthmovers, landscapers, landscape suppliers, nurseries, market gardens, local and state government bodies and plant hire businesses to let them experience the John Deere product for themselves.”

This is quite a nice compliment to the Small Ag and Turf production line, because we have quite a lot of customers that already have this type of equipment on-farm

If you’re interested in talking about the range of compact John Deere Construction machines, contact your local branch for more details or head to the Hutcheon and Pearce website. www.hutcheonandpearce.com.au As with every machine H&P sell, customers can expect the same assistance with parts and after-sales service. “We have the size and scope to provide excellent service beyond the sale. We can hold lots and lots of parts and a wealth of experience in dealing with emergency breakdowns. With our agricultural machines, we know that time is money and any time a machine is down, that affects the bottom line. It will be no different with this machinery, with our teams across 11 locations ready to assist.

“Across sales, service and parts, our team will undertake online self-paced training and face-to-face machine operator training through John Deere. “This is a new day and a new John Deere product for Hutcheon & Pearce, and we’ll be ready to hit the ground running when the first machines hit our branches.”

“We’ll also have a demonstration fleet, and because we want to go to market in a big way, we’re keen to talk to some of the contractors in our area and get onto work sites to give them a test drive.” While the team is excited about the new arm of the business, Andrew is quick to point out that our existing ag customers were an important consideration in the decision. “We’re a business built on family and farming so of course we’d never have made this move if we weren’t absolutely certain we could maintain the same level of commitment to, and exceptional service for, our existing customers. We’re also excited to bring to all our customers a product range that can benefit many of their business operations.” While it’s still early days, the Hutcheon & Pearce team will complete comprehensive training before the first John Deere Construction stock lands in May.

Happy customers the key for Andrew When we find a staff member who loves nothing more than to help our customers, we stick to them like hot asphalt on Blundstones! That’s how it is with Andrew Haenig, who’s just wrapped up his Automotive Sales traineeship.

W

hen you talk to Andrew Haenig, it’s clear that he loves helping people out.

Originally from Tumbarumba, Andrew has been a valued member of the H&P team for three years. “I grew up in Tumba and went out to Yanco Ag for my high schooling. I went from Yanco to a farm to do harvest in 2015, then on to do my Cert IV in Ag on a property just out of Book Book. I pretty much came to Hutchies from there.” Andrew started in a rotating role between parts and the workshop, but he was needed in the spare parts department pretty much full-time from the get-go. As a result, he can probably rattle off more part numbers than you could poke a stick at. “Coming into the department, I thought it was quite an interesting part of the operation and one I didn’t know much about. Once I started doing it, I could see the enormity of the spare parts side of the business, and it really intrigued me. No day was never the same and I sort of just wanted to get better at it.” Always keen to learn new things, Andrew decided to tackle his Certificate III in Automotive Sales. “It’s always handy to have those bits of paper under your belt, I reckon. “It gave me the background on why things are done the way they are and hints and tips to do the job better.

10

Hutcheon & Pearce

“The theory was like homework, in a way. We’d work Monday to Friday and then our TAFE teacher would come around once every couple of months, or earlier if we had our assessments done, to check in.” When asked about his favourite part of the traineeship, Andrew can’t pinpoint just one factor. “Just everything, every day. Every day you’re talking to customers and trying to make it as easy as you can for them. You’d know yourself, if you go into a shop and you’re struggling to find what you want, you ask for help. When it’s a nice smooth transaction, you leave the place feeling better than when you went in, and that’s what I try to do every day, to make it as smooth for the customer as possible.” Throughout it all, Andrew felt supported by the team at H&P. “Nothing was ever a hassle for anyone, especially the Wagga parts team. I’m lucky that I’ve got a wealth of knowledge behind me in the spare parts side of things. Both Les and Rocket, they’re the best. If I knew half the things that they know, I reckon I’d still be pretty smart! “The support from within the Hutcheon & Pearce network is amazing. There’s never a question that can’t be answered. Whether it’s within the Wagga Branch or sending it out to other branches, there’s a wealth of knowledge. “And you’re always encouraged to ask. Rocket always says, ‘The only silly question is the one you don’t ask’.”

Wagga Branch salesman Andrew Haenig

Since completing his Cert III, Andrew has made the switch to Small Ag and Turf Sales which includes sub-100hp tractors, gators and mowers. “In the new role, once again, it’s all about customer satisfaction. And that’s where the real job satisfaction is for me. “I guess I’m the type of bloke that really likes seeing people happy, and nothing beats the smile that you see on peoples’ faces when they have the first spin on their tractor, or first spin around on their mower. It’s priceless!” If you’re in the Wagga area and you’re in the market for a new small ag machine, gator or mower, Andrew is your man. Drop into the Wagga branch and see what deal he

Make every drop count with T3RRA When you live and work on one of the driest continents on earth, you need to make every drop count. We caught up James Rovers from terrain-based water management company T3RRA to talk about the latest in landforming technology.

S

ince 2015, T3RRA has been providing precision terrain solutions to allow farmers to reshape the surface of their fields to increase water efficiency, improve manageability and boost profits.

T3RRA Territory Manager James Rovers knows just how important the smart use of water can be. “Land forming and water management is important to all Australian farmers. It is the major limiting factor to most agricultural production in Australia, which is why we’ve worked hard to develop tools to suit almost all farming systems in Australia.” Starting with just two employees, building and marketing a single software product, T3RRA now markets four main software products in markets across just as many continents and a growing number of countries across the globe. “The tools we build are designed to work seamlessly with the John Deere platforms, including John Deere’s online Operations Centre and John Deere machinery. “There’s T3RRA Cutta, our all-in-one landforming package sold by John Deere dealers like our friends at Hutcheon & Pearce. We also offer T3RRA Ditch for designing and implementing ditches and levees, our laser levelling solution T3RRA Plane, and T3RRA Survey, our easy-to use package making it simple to collect full field or ditch and drain surveys without tying up your existing earthmoving software and equipment.

12

Hutcheon & Pearce

“We also offer professional desktop terrain modelling software, T3RRA Design. It can help achieve any earthworks layout required and is loved by our professional users. “While we specialise in spatial algorithms and GPS driven applications for agriculture, we also have electronics specialists on staff and custom build our own machine control and sensing systems. “We are small and innovative company, and we regularly update our software to give our amazing customers the very latest tools and techniques we have to offer farmers.” T3RRA now employs nine staff in Queensland, Victoria and Arkansas USA. Along with markets in the USA and Australia, they have established sales into Canada, Central America and Europe and are investigating new markets in Africa, South East Asia and South America. “We have a strategic global partnership with John Deere, including dealership agreements with more than 90 John Deere dealer groups around the world. This extensive network allows us to sell and support at a level well above that which would be expected for a company our size. “And GPS guided terrain enhancement is not just a reality. It’s necessary. There are projected to be 9 billion people on this planet in another 20 years. We want to help feed and clothe them all.

“Our innovative solutions, out-of-the-box thinking, and fantastic people mean we can offer software unavailable anywhere else to do just that. Every farmer should at the very least utilise the T3RRA Tools integrated with John Deere’s Operations Centre. These tools are free to use as a demo and are extremely valuable to help farmers visually analyse the topography of fields quickly and easily with data already collected through previous machine passes. “Our industry-leading software can help Hutcheon & Pearce customers with their landforming and water management with greatest ease at least cost.”

“We chose this option over conventional scraper GPS systems for the flexibility it provides. Set-up time on the job is now down to under 10 minutes and survey and designing of jobs can be done in-cab for drainage, hard stands, roads and irrigation bays within minutes. This allows both operator and client to get the volumes of material required to be moved, with estimating costs for task at hand made easy. Combine this with the technology in the new John Deere that allows steering control, and our time on jobs has been reduced.” Duncan said that any time he needs advice on how the system works, the TECSight crew in Wagga is always available.

Duncan McCallum, a civil/earthworks contractor based in Coolamon, has had good results using T3RRA Cutta.

“If it’s a complicated issue, the fellas can remote access the program to assist the operator to remedy the issue. I have found this to be extremely helpful.

“We operate more than 20 large pieces of earthmoving equipment including dozers, excavators, graders and scrapers, from all leading brands and recently purchased a John Deere 9620R that pulls a Horwood Bagshaw grader bucket. This plant has been equipped with the T3RRA Cutta GPS system.

“As new technology arrives, the training needed to do what we do in an ever harder business environment is critical. The combined team from John Deere, Hutcheon & Pearce and T3RRA seem to be among the easiest available to assist us meet our business goals.”

A new level of customer service Our all-new High Performance Package is stepping up our service game and locking in exceptional support for our customers, now and into the future.

G

roup Aftermarket Manager Tom Hensgen knows all about delivering the highest levels of support to our customers and believes in leaving no stone unturned in ensuring machines are running in tip-top condition. Tom was part of the team to put their heads together to deliver the High Performance Package – a new service option for customers when purchasing selected new machines. “The High Performance Package gives us the opportunity to deliver our highest level of support and coverage. At the core of this package is one of our flexible Service Plans, the PowerGard™ Extended Warranty, and phone and field support via TECSight. Together, it adds up to exceptional customer support and value. “Our Service Plans allow our customers to lock in today’s labour and parts pricing for machinery maintenance, with flexible payment options. The chosen service plan can either be financed upfront with the machinery through John Deere Finance, billed as the work is completed with today’s pricing locked in, or billed in equal monthly instalments to make it easier on cashflow. “The real power in this offer is that each Service Plan is then linked to both our business system and JDLink Telematics meaning that once the plan is activated, we set alerts to automatically notify us 50 hours before the machine is due for a service. We then work proactively with our customer to arrange a convenient time to come and complete the service.” The upshot is that with the High Performance Package, services will never be missed. In the rare event of a breakdown between services, H&P will also waive any travel charges while the machine is on the Service Plan.

14

Hutcheon & Pearce

“For us, it’s all about adding value and giving our customers peace of mind.” “We created the High Performance Package to ensure our customers minimise machine downtime. And to encourage and reward customers that allow us to fully maintain their machinery, we have included what we believe to be a huge amount of additional value in the package.”

Additional value: • Special finance deals available to finance the Service Plans with an upfront payment discount of 5%. • Covering a free additional year of John Deere PowerGard™ when a matching Service Plan is signed. • Covering any PowerGard™ Extended Warranty Excess in the event of a failure. • Free access to our TECSight Support Centre for over-thephone machine, GPS, technology or MyJohnDeere.com support – valued at $550 per year. • Access to our TECSight Field Specialists to conduct on-farm training and optimisation of machinery. • Free yearly machinery inspections to ensure that we pick up any potential failures before they occur. • Access to John Deere Connected Support tools, which include a system called Expert Alerts. Expert Alerts are the next evolution in predictive failure alerts. When a series of codes occur on the machinery, advanced algorithms are used to provide a prediction of a >90% chance of future component failure. This allows the repairs to be scheduled before a failure occurs in the paddock.

The High Performance Package at a glance:

While the package itself is full of savings, Tom said the real value in the package is that it allows H&P to fully maintain and optimise the machinery. “The High Performance Package allows our customers to keep their full attention on running their business without having to worry about whether machines will be ready to work when they are. We do that for you. “Meanwhile, at H&P, we continue to heavily invest in systems, technology, tooling and people to ensure that we can meet and exceed our customers’ expectations now and into the future. It’s a pretty sure deal.”

• Flexible Service Plan payment options Upfront, Pay As You Go (PAYG) and PAYG Monthly • We will cover any PowerGard™ extended warranty excess if a failure occurs • Special Service Plan and PowerGard™ finance deals available • Free extra year of PowerGard™ when a matching Service Plan is purchased • Free TECSight support for the length of the High Performance Package. Including remote data and yield mapping support • Access to TECSight Field Specialists visits for either machine optimisation or data / precision ag based services on request • Free yearly seasonal H&P Expert Check inspections • Access to John Deere’s Connected Support Tools. Terms & Conditions • Min 2000hr Service Plan to qualify for High Performance Package • 12 months/0hrs PowerGard™ is in addition to any current PowerGard™ offer • Service Plan must match the PowerGard™ coverage hours to be eligible for the high performance package • Maximum Service Plan • For new Machinery paid by the customer upfront – 60 months or 5000 engine hours maximum (whichever comes first) • For new and existing Machinery where the Customer is paying monthly or Pay As You Go – 36 months or 3000 engine hours maximum (whichever comes first).

Farmers get active at Games We know how important it is for our farming communities - the lifeblood of the land - to be fit and well. That’s why we were proud to sponsor the 2020 Active Farmers Games, that were held in Temora on March 14.

I

t’s all systems go for Active Farmers Acting CEO Marliese Heffernan, as the Active Farmers team prepares for the 2020 Active Farmers Games, to be held in the beautiful surrounds of Lake Centenary, Temora.

“The other great thing is that while most teams are from the Riverina, we’ve had lots of interest from further afield this year. One of our trainers from WA is bringing over a few teams, and another of our trainers in Victoria is bringing up a few teams as well, so a further geographical spread than last year’s Games.”

The aim of the Active Farmers Games is to raise awareness of the importance of physical and mental health by inspiring people to get off the farm, or out of the house, and participate in a fun fitness activity with other people from the land.

Marliese said the driving force behind the Active Farmers Games was to promote community connectedness as much as a healthy lifestyle.

“Last year, at our inaugural Games, we ran just two courses – one for adults and one for kids. This year, we’ve got two heats for the adults – one a fun, untimed heat and the second a timed heat for those who are a little bit more competitive. There will be 14 or more obstacles around the 2.5 kilometre course – tyres to stack, hay bales to climb over, mud to crawl through. And, provided there’s enough water in the lake, there’ll also be a very short swim leg. “This year, the kids will compete as individuals, but the open section (over 14yrs) has teams of three and the rules state that there must be at least one female and one male on every team. “So far, we’ve had more than 45 teams enter, with capacity for 54 teams. Mostly people are in their 20s, 30s and 40s, but we have people right up to 70 years of age participating, which is great.

“It’s a good excuse for people to get together and have some fun away from the job. I think a lot of our farming communities are experiencing tough times at the moment, so this is an opportunity for them to step away from that for a short while and just have some fun with their mates. “We’re very much focused on getting the men involved this year, because we want them to take their health seriously and we know the statistics around mental health issues are generally higher for men. “For us as an organisation, through registration fees, the Games gives us a small source of revenue that we then invest back into the 35 communities where we are currently active. That’s really important because most of our communities are experiencing drought and now, of course, some are also experiencing the effects of the bushfires. Extra funds also allow us to expand into new communities and remain as a presence for long into the future, which is always our goal.”

But an event like this doesn’t just happen. Along with hundreds of hours from the Active Farmers crew and volunteers, the Games would not be possible without sponsorship from local businesses like Hutcheon & Pearce. “We heavily rely on sponsorship to run events like this. We simply wouldn’t be able to run Active Farmers or Active Farmers events without the support of event sponsors, as well as our longer-term partnerships. All our sponsors and partners are already a part of the communities where we’re active. “In essence, this is an opportunity for them to give back to their communities in a really proactive way and it’s important for our sponsors to be a part of something that promotes physical and mental health. I think we all have a responsibility to get behind our communities and support their wellbeing.” CEO Arron Hutcheon said he was pleased to see the Games continue this year and proud to support the event as a sponsor.

Operating in small rural communities across NSW and in Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland and Western Australia, Active Farmers is all about promoting health through physical fitness, which in turn improves mental health.

“For us, community involvement is a very big part of what we do. We’re here to support our customers in a commercial sense but also in a community sense, and there’s no doubt a lot of our regions have faced some pretty tough climatic and economic conditions.

“We bring group fitness classes to rural and remote farming communities, where a lot of the time they have little more than a corner store or a football field. It’s our aim to bring about community connectedness in order to build the resilience of individuals and our farming communities.

“Mental health is at the forefront of a lot of discussions these days, and I see more and more people drawing that linkage between physical and mental health. If you’re physically fit, you’ve got a lot better chance of staying mentally fit and Active Farmers has some very good successes in their simple yet effective approach of getting the community together to exercise and stay connected.”

“Our big message is for participants, or anyone thinking about coming along to an Active Farmers class, to come with an open mind and to use it as an opportunity to think seriously about their health. Taking time off to improve your physical fitness is an investment. “Looking after yourself is good for you, your family and your business.”
