Hutchison Leads Internships & Fellowships 2015-2016
Hutchison Leads empowers girls to discover their passions and galvanize their talents to transform their communities and the world.
Dear Parents, Alumnae, and Friends, For over a century, Hutchison has built on a time-honored tradition of preparing girls with the experience, skills, and confidence to become tomorrow’s leaders. Our focus on leadership begins in the early grades and culminates in the nationally recognized Hutchison Leads program in the Upper School – a dynamic learning experience that inspires girls to make thoughtful decisions to affect positive change in the world around them. Established in 2010 through a substantial gift from Hutchison alumna Abigail Ware Williams ’89 and her husband, Duncan, Hutchison Leads is often cited by recent graduates as a lifetransforming experience that enriched their lives intellectually, socially, and spiritually. Many influential community organizations are part of the Hutchison Leads experience, and we are immensely grateful for their support and inspiration. Sincerely,
Annette C. Smith, Ed.D Head of School
Internship & Fellowship Requirements The semester-long internships include at least 40 hours of on-site work, 10 hours of research related to field of study, regular meetings with a Hutchison mentor, weekly written reflections, and a Capstone presentation. Fellowships require an 80-plus hour commitment, 20 hours of research related to field of study, and the creation of a final project that reflects each girl’s unique experience. This program captures a unique period in the girls’ lives and builds on the leadership and learning journeys that have characterized their time at Hutchison.
