PATIO PAVING | STONE SETTS | COBBLES | WALLING

Welcome

Landscaping the garden and driveway of our home is arguably the best ‘value for money’ home improvement investments that can be made. Current poor interest rates on savings and low house price inflation makes home landscaping an excellent investment. Good landscaping will immediately create a visual statement about your home, an impression of your lifestyle, enhancing the desirability and ultimately the value of your home. Within this brochure we seek to inspire and assist you in selecting the right choice of materials for your landscaping project whatever your budget and choice of design style. Our extensive range of natural stone materials are sourced to an ethical code from audited suppliers with a strong focus on labour rights. So whether you seek a traditional English garden, with hand dressed natural stone paving and walling, or a modern, bold contemporary garden, we are confident that you will discover your perfect hard landscaping materials are from Pavestone. Regards,

Jon Layton Commercial Director Pavestone UK Limited

SILK

Modena Silk derives its name from the key features associated with this sandstone paving. The honed and polished paving face creates a silky smooth luxurious finish that is particularly suitable for the creation of modern, contemporary areas. Modena Silk Paving not only looks good but it also feels good ‘under foot’ making it ideal for both internal flooring and as an external paving.

Tudor Cobbles complement perfectly the Tudor Antique paving range and are particularly suitable for paving courtyards and terraces where a smaller size paving creates a better aspect ratio. Slate

Pavestone Slate fully encapsulates the timeless beauty and character of a bygone age. Its lightly riven surface makes it an ideal base for garden furniture and the deep dark colour tones of blue/black in the Midnight range or the wonderfully vibrant gold and bronzes of the Rusty Slate provides a magical intrigue. Slate also looks fantastic when used in the home as a floor covering. For some inspiration with your kitchen or conservatory flooring, visit our website.

Sandstone Part of the character of Sandstone paving is that no two stones are coloured the same; however, when combined they create a rich tapestry of colour to make an overall hue as presented here. Seasonal changes also bring differing perspectives to the reflected colours.

In strong summer sunlight a sandstone patio will appear to have less colour variation, whilst after rain the colours will be of deep patina.

Being a natural product there will inevitably be natural variants in the colour of our paving from batch to batch. The colours depicted in this brochure are a representative sample only and before committing to purchase any natural stone product it is always recommended that you visit your stockist to check the colour and texture of your chosen paving. Because these are natural materials, there will also be minor dimensional variations which can normally be adjusted for in the laying pattern. It is always recommended that the layout is checked by dry laying natural stone paving prior to mortar jointing. Natural stone paving should always be laid on a full bed of mortar and have joints of between 8-15mm wide also mortar pointed.

Limestone

Limestone is an attractive and very durable paving which has a softer surface than sandstone and features a variable, soft-riven, textured finish. Pavestone offers three colours, all of which will complement classic and contemporary gardens.

Limestone paving flags are particularly effective where patio furniture is to be extensively used. The subtle riven texture on the paving face produces a flatter patio surface that helps to eliminate the ‘rocking’ of patio tables and chairs.

SETTS

Rumbled

Natural Stone Setts are ideal for creating winding and undulating pathways with rustic charm through the garden. Setts also can provide an attractive border to patio paving or driveways adding contrast and rustic intrigue to a paved area.

PAVERS

Pavers are thinner than Stone Setts and look like small paving slabs. They have been rumbled to create a time worn effect and are predominantly used as pathways or border edgings. The rich colours of these Pavers are often used to contrast large uniformly paved areas.

WALLING

Slate Stack

WALL CLADDING Slate Stack wall cladding is a new and inexpensive way of transforming existing boring old brick walls into modern contemporary works of art. Alternatively if you don’t have the walls you need, then new walls can be constructed from cheap concrete blocks and faced with the Slate Stack wall cladding to provide an impressive finish. Slate Stack couldn’t be simpler to install, no pointing is necessary, just bond them on the wall leaving no spaces. The units can be easily cut to facilitate corners, window frames, doors etc. Slate stack walls are becoming a new trend in outdoor and indoor wall décor with typical projects ranging from internal walling, fire hearths and pillars to external walling, barbecues and water features. Pavestone’s Slate Stack can be used inside or outside residential, commercial and/or landscape gardening.

SPLIT, PITCHED & TUMBLED WALLING Burford reconstituted stone walling is now available in three finishes:

& PIER CAPS

Split has a slightly uneven finish to its face which looks similar to rough hewn stone. Pitched is similar to naturally quarried and dressed stone. It has a rough raised profile that produces the subtle, authentic rugged appearance of traditional tooled stone.

Add the finishing touches to your walling with Pavestone Copings and Pier Caps.

Tumbled has a rough irregular shape and finish that replicates old weathered stone.

Corporate Responsibility Trading Ethically Pavestone has always been acutely conscious of the concerns raised through consumers increasing awareness of the ethical issues associated with the production of natural stone products from India.

The ETI is an alliance of companies, trade union organisations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) committed to working together to ensure that the working conditions of employees in companies that supply goods to consumers in the UK meet or exceed international standards.

4.Child labour shall not be used.

• 211 million of the world's children under 15 (one in five) works full or part-time.

6. Working hours are not excessive and comply with national laws and benchmark industry standards.

• At least 20 million people are affected by bonded labour. • One in four people in the world live on less than a dollar a day.

7. Workers should be treated equally regardless of race, caste, national origin, religion, age, disability, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, union membership or political affiliation.

By adopting the ETI Base Code and working with other ETI members, Pavestone is seeking to assist in the process of establishing new standards of working practice so as to provide a better quality of life for those employed in the quarrying and processing of natural stone in India.

The ETI Base Code 1. Employment should be freely chosen with no forced, bonded or involuntary labour. 2. Workers have the right to join or form trade unions of their own choosing and to bargain collectively.

Pavestone has been particularly impressed by the MP Goyal Group commitment to the communities local to its operations and the funding and assistance provided to dramatically improve the quality of life within these communities. We are currently working with MPG Group and have agreed that a financial contribution linked to our sales volume be donated, on an ongoing basis, ensuring further contributions to these primary charity projects. MP Goyal Group is focused primarily on two projects that it believes to be of prime importance to the shaping of a future Indian economy - Health & Education.

For many years we have been importing only from audited stone producers who can successfully demonstrate that that their processes meet the moral and ethical codes as established by the ETI (Ethical Trading Initiative) Base Code. In doing so we have contributed to the economic success of the communities in which our stone processors work and have helped to provide a safer and more secure working environment for our supplier partners' employees.

At a most basic level, these are the reasons that ETI exists.

Pavestone has chosen to become more involved in ways in which we can further improve the quality of life, not only for those immediately employed by our primary supply partners but also all those living in and around the immediate community.

8.Regular employment for individuals should be provided where work is ongoing. 9. No harsh or inhumane treatment of workers. Physical abuse (or threat of), sexual or other harassment including verbal abuse or intimidation shall be prohibited.

The MPG Group recognises the importance of education and developing ‘home grown’ skilled people within its businesses to keep a pace with India’s fast emerging economy. The group operates a programme of identifying ‘raw talent’ to sponsor so as to provide a pool of talented engineers who have the power and knowledge to adapt to new challenges. MPG Group core competencies lie in developing dynamic engineers for their many businesses, which include IT services, glass importation & installation and real estate in addition to stone production and masonry. Sponsored students graduating from the specialised courses and attaining recognised qualifications are not tied to the MPG Group and are often found employment in alternative industies.

3. A safe and healthy working environment shall be provided.

5. Wages should always be enough to meet basic needs and to provide some discretionary income.

Education

Hari Om Aggarsen Hospital Located in the Rewari District, Haryana, the hospital is staffed by fully qualified doctors, nurses and administrative staff, all of which are fully funded by the MP Goyal Group. The MPG Group have an ideology that welfare and medical treatment should be available to all, including the large under-privileged section of the society and as such the hospital offers free ‘walk in’ treatments in addition to free long-term medicines and continuous care. There is no discrimination based upon sex, creed, religion or caste. The hospital is also funded to conduct weekly field clinics to include blood donation, health education, health checkups, welfare camps for women and general counselling sessions. Most often these will be held at schools or village focal points in the within the district. This visible and continued effort to improve the health of the underprivileged has built a strong relationship between the MPG Group, the corporate body, employees of the organisation and the communities in which it operates.

At Home... Our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives seek to make our businesses more accountable for our actions and decisions. We are committed to full legal compliance in all that we do and to make our business accountable to those that we directly or indirectly impact upon through the adoption of good practices. Practices include:

Natural stone coverage quoted in the brochure includes the appropriate joint widths to enable the correct amount of stone to be purchased to cover a given area. Where space is critical and particularly when a circle or feature kit is being incorporated into a design, it is essential that the product is dry laid in order to understand the gaps required to make the feature work. Retrospective correction of gaps once a job is underway is not always possible. Basic laying patterns with joint widths are available upon request from Pavestone.

Sealing

We reserve the right to change dimensions and pack sizes without notice.

To avoid grout or mortar staining natural stone flooring laid internally, it is recommended that a uniform treatment of a propriatory sealant be applied prior to grouting and again afterwards to fully protect the stone.

Variations in colour and shading will occur in natural stone paving. The swatches reproduced in this brochure are as accurate as reprographic processes allow and are indications of the overall hue produced by the variety of colour variations in the given product. It is essential that you view the actual product at your stockist prior to purchasing. It is also advisable that when the product ordered is delivered to your site, that you inspected it to deem it suitable prior to installation.

The seal, which on porous stone may need up to four coats, will also provide a protective coating against wear in most light traffic situations.

Chamfered edges Hand split natural stone paving usually has chamfered edges. Always lay the stone with the chamfered edges down.

When laying multiple packs of natural stone paving care should be taken to ensure that product is drawn equally from all of the available packs as the project progresses rather than one pack at a time. This eliminates odd patches of colours and will give a seamless more natural blend to the finished project. Total coverage per pack 20.70m2 laid with 8-14mm joints (10mm approx)

Maintenance Pressure washing natural stone is not recommended as it will damage the joint pointing. We do not recommend any chemical cleaners be used on our products but instead suggest that warm soapy water and a stiff broom be used to clean the stone surfaces.
