Drawing inspiration from the architectural work of Louis Kahn, District Eight presents its latest merging of materials to create these distinctive designs.
District Eight was founded in April 2010, a furniture design firm that creates quality work, inspired by the industrial age. Informed by our location in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; much of our work reflects the raw, bold character of our surroundings. At District Eight we pride ourselves on creating handcrafted furnishings that combine industrial elements with modern aesthetics.
The collection consists of the following design - desk, sofa, console, coffee tables and dining table. Each piece is created by D8 utilising traditional techniques but still taking into account peoples modern needs. This can be seen in the Salk desk which comes in three finishes of charred black oak with acid black concrete, whilst the raw and seared oak are matched with grey concrete. Clever concealment of cables is provided by the unique desk set. No work space requirement has been left unanswered.
Clever storage options and dual function are also characteristics of this well thought out collection. The coffee tables in both rectangular and our larger square option, along with the console include concealed drawers allowing for additional storage. The Salk dining table features a butterfly extension which can be easily manipulated from 6 person dining to seating an additional 2 guests. In keeping with the architectural inspiration the sofa is a unique, contemporary industrial design, that features incorporated side tables in solid oak. It’s modern styling of concrete and oak is offset with plush cushion inserts of natural feather covered in a selection of fabric and leather.
