ABOUT HWAM HWAM A/S is a privately held, family-owned company with headquarters in Hørning, Denmark. Founded in 1972 by Vagn Hvam Pedersen, it is one of Denmark’s leading manufacturers of wood-burning stoves. After building the company from the bottom and r unning it successfully for several decades, the founders’ two sons have followed in their father’s footsteps and are today in charge of the company. Stefan Hvam Pedersen has taken on the role of Managing Director, and Torsten Hvam Sølund is the Head of Research & Development. Guided by an entrepreneurial spirit, solid knowledge and many years’ experience, the company is committed to developing sustainable wood-burning stoves that meet tomorrow’s strict environmental requirements.

Made in Denmark Danish design is characterized by functionality, simplicity, and clean lines. It promotes creating sustainable items, made to last rather than being replaced. The minimalistic Danish design tradition was born during the 1930s, inspired by nature and climate. This strong link between design and nature has played an important role in the development of designs and resulted in a sharp contrast between abstract and natural shapes. A HWAM wood-burning stove is the perfect example of Danish design. Solid artisanship, aesthetic functional design and innovation combined. All HWAM wood-burning stoves are designed and produced in Denmark, from the first draft to the final product. This process is a close collaboration across all departments, in order to end up with the very best result.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

With a HWAM wood-burning stove, you can heat up your home with a clear conscience. Burning of wood is a CO2 neutral process. The wood simply releases the same amount of CO2 that it would if it were decomposing naturally on the nature. When you fire in a HWAM wood-burning stove, the chimney lets out mainly water vapour, which has only a minimal impact on the environment. This is the result of continuous development to ensure that the HWAM wood-burning stoves are highly efficient, utilising nearly all the energy in the wood. Meeting tomorrows requirements At HWAM, we develop wood-burning stoves that meet the most rigorous standards, and even now, we more than satisfy EU’s future requirements on particulate matter emissions which will not be implemented until 2022.

However, to ensure a minimal impact on the environment, the wood-burning stove must be fired properly. All HWAM wood-burning stoves are equipped with a HWAM® A utopilot™, while WIKING stoves are fi tted with an Automatic™ system. Both the HWAM® Autopilot™ and the Automatic™ system automatically regulate the air supply for combustion in order to optimise firing and considerably increase the longevity of the firewood. To ensure that the wood-burning stoves comply with our rigorous environmental requirements in any situation they are s ubjected to comprehensive, regular testing to ensure optimal performance.

INTELLIGENT HEAT Save money Protect the environment Enjoy the convenience The main secret b ehind good combution is a c onsistent control of air. HWAM and WIKING Wood-burning s toves show high efficiency and clean burning, due to the HWAM® Autopilot™, and Automatic™ system respectively. The HWAM® Autopilot™ Automatic™ s ystem The HWAM® A utopilot™ and Automatic™ system controls the air inlet by means of a bi-metal spring, made of two different m etals that respond differently to changes in temperature. As the combustion temperature goes up and down, the bi-metal spring automatically adjusts the air flow.

When lighting up a wood-burning stove, a lot of primary air is provided to ensure a rapid increase in temperature. When the wood logs burn properly, a limited amount of s econdary and tertiary air is added, preventing the temperature from rising too high and avoiding heat loss through the chimney. In case of a drop in flue draught, more air is supplied to avoid inefficient burning and ensure a clear view of the fire. When the last embers are glowing, a small amount of primary air is added to ensure swift combustion of the embers without undue loss of heat. The bi-metal controlled HWAM® A utopilot™ and Automatic™ system respectively does not re quire electricity and is easily accessible at the back of the stove.

Benefits of the AutopilotTM Use up to 40% less wood* Self-regulating Clean burning = clean window Best environmental and low emission burning

* Based on comparison with a similar HWAM wood-burning stove without AutopilotTM

3 STEPS - As simple as this Light the fire as usual Set the temperature level using the app Receive a reminder when it is time to add more firewood

HWAM® SmartControl™ The HWAM®SmartControl™ is an intelligent control system for the wood-burning stove. This feature allows you to light up and control the process through an app. The app easily allows you to set up the desired room temperature on your smart phone or tablet – and the app even reminds you when it is time to add more firewood. All you need to do is to light up the fire and set the desired temperature. The system will take care of the rest for you, so you can relax, kick back and enjoy the flames and the cosy heat.

You can operate the HWAM® SmartControl™ by a smart phone or tablet. We are continuously working on improving and optimising combustion in our w ood-burning stoves.
