Ages 4 – 6 If a friend is doing something that looks like a scary choice you can say, “Stop! That’s not safe!” Ages 6 and up If a friend asks you to do something that is not a safe and smart choice you can say, “No, Let’s do something else.”

You can use your Safety Voice to Report something important to your grown up!

Going from Start to Finish follow the KidSafe path to get the child to their grown-up. When you get to the Grown-up use your Safety Voice and say “I have something important to tell you.”
There is a difference between Tattling and Reporting. Reporting helps a child make safe and smart choices and access help when they need it.

Ask your child – How do you know this is a safe or unsafe choice?
FIND:
Circle the Safe Choices • The child wearing their seatbelt • The child on bike wearing his helmet • The child talking to their grown-up • The child swimming with an adult • The child holding hands with an adult • The child answering the door with a grown-up
Put an X on the UnSafe Choices • The child not wearing seatbelt • The child running into the street • The child answering the door alone • The child riding a bike without a helmet

My Body is Special and Belongs to Me! Color the kids in their bathing suits. All of the parts of their bodies covered by bathing suits are their private parts.
You can say: “All of the parts of your body that are covered by your bathing suit are your private parts. Your body is special and belongs to you. If you ever have any questions about your private parts you can ask me anything.”
Empower your children by teaching them the proper names for their private parts!

Remember a Circle of Safe Adults is the people a child can talk to about happy things or sad and scary things. Let the people your child drew know they have been chosen by your child as a person they can reach out to for help.
