BENEFITS OF ANXIETY HYPNOTHERAPY Anxiety is a body’s natural response to dangerous situations; however, at times it can be difficult to control these emotions. Many people compare anxiety with fear. You should know that anxiety is different. It is a disorder and should be taken seriously. There are many treatments to control unwanted anxiety, and one of them is anxiety hypnotherapy.
Anxiety hypnotherapy offers relief from the following types of anxieties:
Mild Anxiety: This type of anxiety is most common in students that are about to sit for an examination
Moderate Anxiety: This type of anxiety is when the person starts to panic, but still has some control over the situation. Commonly found in individuals who are about to undergo any type of invasive treatments, or some people experience it before a root canal.
Severe Anxiety: Severe anxiety occurs when individuals start to have racing thoughts that they are going to die or something bad is about to happen to them. Their mind takes control of them and this in turn reduces their thinking capacity. This is when the patient needs help.
Panic Anxiety: People suffering from panic anxiety are always edgy and need immediate help. Most commonly found in abused individuals and rape victims.
Role of Anxiety Hypnotherapy
Individuals suffering from distorted thoughts need help and this is where anxiety hypnotherapy helps them through psychoanalysis. There are two types of anxiety hypnotherapies; regression hypnotherapy and behavioral modification hypnotherapy.
1. Regression Hypnotherapy
In this type of hypnotherapy, the hypnotherapist will use an autogenic training where the client will be asked to close their eyes and feel their surroundings. Next, the hypnotherapist will tell them to relax their body muscles by inhaling deeply through the nose, and exhaling through their mouth. Gradually, this will lead to the regulation of their breathing and heart rate. Once, the client is completely relaxed, they may be asked to think about the traumatic events that caused the anxiety in the first place. The hypnotherapist will then guide the client to forget about that event and let go of the anxiety with it.
Behavioral Modification Hypnotherapy
Behavioral Modification Hypnotherapy uses meditative training, biofeedback, and pure imagery to induce relaxation in the client. The client is asked to relax themselves before the procedure starts. They are then asked to tell what triggers the anxiety attack. The hypnotherapist will then examine these thoughts. The client is then guided to change these negative behaviors to more productive ones. The hypnotherapist works to build the confidence of the client and tells them how to eradicate the negative feelings and turn them into something positive.
Conclusion
These therapies are also useful in patients with other psychiatric disorders like phobias, post-traumatic stress disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and so on. The procedure must be halted once the client starts to panic.
